***GREAT IDEA to spread the message!!!*** UPDATED!!

My wife and I were just talking while reading the "Manifesto" together and came up with a great idea to spread the message...

Imagine if everytime any one of us goes to lunch, dinner, drinking, etc... where a tip is left to your server... you leave a businsess card along with your tip (that I'll gladly create) that says....

"Ron Paul will NOT tax your tips!"
Ron Paul for President 2008!
www.ronpaul2008.com

I'm totally open to suggestions on what it could say, but WOW.... what a way to open people's minds and get them interested.... then they'll learn that our good Dr. wants to eliminate the income tax!!!

If we all did this, we could reach millions in just a few weeks!!

ps. on pages 79/80 of the Manifesto, Ron Paul explains his point on eliminating the income tax and how it would reduce our federal budget by 40%. Then he explains that in order to see what its like to live in a country with 40% LESS budget than 2007... we have to go all the way back to...... 1997!!!! Doesn't sound that crazy now does it???

UPDATE!!! Click link below for the business card front and back... "Tent Style" in the works! Thanks to fanofwalt for the upload!
http://homepage.mac.com/c...
and as fanofwalt says below... use the ones that end in back2 & front2

UPDATE #2!!!
I have 2,000 cards here and want to know who needs them...
Send me your information and I'll send them to you....
I'LL PAY FOR THEM..... JUST DISTRIBUTE AND SPREAD THE WORD!!!

This is a really wonderful idea. Good job.

THEY'RE HERE!

The cards are here and I'll gladly send some to anyone who wants them.... I don't mind paying so long as they get out there!!!
Let me know!!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

GREATCARD!

I would offer a suggestion - as a general rule, "periods" are not necessary since they are points and not all are complete sentences. The exclamation point, however, adds impact.

These are great cards to keep the message growing!!!

Thank you for sharing!

I knew that....

Thanks for the props and suggestion.... I knew they weren't necessary and probably should have used exclamation points on all of them but didn't want overkill....
Let me know if you want some!!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Hell yea!

I want some too!

OOOOOH!! ME! ME!!!

You ROCK!! Contacting you now to get some o' them distributed!

Just spoke yesterday with a tip-earner about RP -- she didn't know about him, didn't know about his tip legislation, and was very eager to learn about "this guy"!!!

how about this re conveying "he can still win" concept ~

~

Ron Paul can still win! You have a real choice... find out more here:

and provide them with a link to the helpful website of our choice

(btw, both the campaign + dailypaul websites are listed on this card, yes?)

Volume Order and Linky

Photoshopwiz, I like your simple line!

I was just going to suggest looking into a large volume order to help with costs, but I see that's already been posted (my, we're a smart bunch, aren't we!). Of course, if there's no additional discount, then it wouldn't make sense, but if the costs go down substantially, then yes, we would be wise to pool our efforts. I know I want me some!

As far as links to put on the card, there is another one which I think is really great, particularly for people brand new to RP:

10-minute Introduction to Ron Paul: http://RonPaulReveres.com...

Naturally, we can't put on every link we'd like, unless we use 3 pt. type, and surely, not even then! So this is merely a suggested addition. Take a look at the link yourselves, and see if you think it's worth including. It does give a nice, professional overview of RP and where he stands on the issues.

wow, what a great link, fanofwalt!

~
I like it! That's great with me! That DVD is a real beauty!

(plus, the waiters and waitresses, many of whom are actors, gay or straight ...should like the cute and articulate guy who is the host! ;-)

btw re packing a lot o' info on a small surface:

The Liberty card designers did a great job and I felt they should be emulated.

Great engineering: Maximum amount of info in a minimum amount of space.

225 Page Hits!!!

225 Page Hits so far!!!
Great job everyone!!
If I get enough requests, I'll buy them in bulk and just charge you guys for shipping.....
Any thoughts???

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Where can I buy these cards? Please, let me know.

"first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks...will deprive the people of all property" -Thomas Jefferson

You can either...

You can either download them from the links above and buy them from www.overnightprints.com or www.vistaprint.com or any print shop for that matter OR if you want.... I just ordered 1500 and i'll mail you some when they get here.... I'm thinking about ordering a big order to make it more affordable for everyone, but I need a good idea on how many people would want.... makes me feel a little dumb for ordering only 1500!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

I just keep finding stuff :)

Well, who knew? There's actually a website dedicated to this issue:

http://www.notaxontips.co...

You're on fire fanofwalt!!

Where did you find that one?
It looks like they let it slip a bit.... you can't download the JPG file.
Looks great though!
Check this out... I just got back from CNI (www.golddealer.com) in Inglewood where I buy gold & silver from... they're by far the best, but this was my first actual visit there... the guy I deal with ... "Sal" saw my RP stuff on my car and the button I was wearing and he went to his desk and grabbed his copy of the Manifesto!!! He was so proud!

Take a look at the following video showing my kids and their RP knowledge!
http://www.youtube.com/wa...

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Aw, cuties!

And I see you're raising them right! ;)

Thanks fanofwalt....

I just put some comments below regarding your other ideas.... thanks for checking out the video.... and contrary to popular belief, I really don't hammer my kids at all... we actually discuss the issues (except for my 17 month old... he only discusses waffles!)

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Just found this

Not in place of, but another tool -- found this two-sided B&W palmcard on the Salt Lake Meetup site's files (designed by Jake of Tulsa, OK.):

http://files.meetup.com/5...

Reinventing the wheel

I just use the "Let me give you a tip" cards I got from ronpaulcard.com. The website seems to be gone. (Not to be confused with RonPaulCards.com - also no longer selling them.)

I've been handing them out for a year. Be sure to leave an actual FRN tip.

A friend who runs a restaurant was thrilled with the idea of no-tax on tips. California was trying to force restaurant owners to be liable for reporting their employees' tips.

IMissLiberty

Can you scan?

Man, I wish those were still available! But, as you say, since they aren't, we are relegated to reinventing the wheel. If you could show us what those looked like, it might prove helpful.

Here are some other layout templates, from the Ron Paul Liberty Card (say, I've just noticed that these are no longer advertised on the Daily Paul). While we wouldn't want to copy these exactly -- some info is outdated and/or not our point of focus -- they may still help with layout and type and general info ideas to draw from.

Ron Paul Liberty Card Front
Ron Paul Liberty Card Back

I can describe

One Side:

photo of man handing $1; banner on top says, "Let me give you a tip on how to keep the IRS off your tips!

Introducing the Tax Free Tips Act
Congressman and Presidential Candidate, Ron Paul, recently introduced legislation to make tips exempt from federal income and payroll taxes.

If this bill is passed, you will be able to keep all your tip money with no fear that the IRS will be looking over your shoulder.

Turn card for 3 steps to get this bill passed.

Other side:

Left: Find more on Ron Paul at YouTube Meetup myspace RonPaul2008.com

Step 1: Go to www.house.gov/writerep or call the White House switchboard at 202-225-3121 to look up your state representative and ask him to support Ron Paul's Tax Free Tip Act.

Step 2: Mark your calendar and vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Presidential Primary in your state.

Step 3: Visit the Ron Paul websites to the left, inform your friends and co-workers about Ron Paul and his Tax Free Tip Act.

____

Then the address for more cards, now defunct. Obviously, Step 2 needs updating.

There is a picture of Ron Paul on the left as well.

I don't see these as particularly useful right now, but we should have them ready to go when he gets the nomination.

IMissLiberty

Don't forget

Revised Already!

Use the same link as before, but be sure to view the files ending in 2.jpg.

Great job fanofwalt!!!

Thanks so much.... please see my comments below about Tent Style, etc.....
You rock!!!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

wow, that mac folder is a cool presentation device!

~

Looking good! Type suggestion, if I may...regarding:

- has never voted for an unbalanced budget

- will fight to abolish the Federal Reserve

- voted against regulating the internet

..If you make type a point size smaller or use a more condensed typeface and keep these bullet points on one line, then you will have space to add 2 or 3 more bullet points

- or -

you will have more room for a really convincing sentence why Ron Paul can win. That will be the main reason why people won't vote for him. We have to change that thinking!

Good ideas

If it can be condensed without looking too "crushed", I'd second that type idea.

How would you encapsulate why Ron Paul can win? I agree with you, that we really need to change that pervasive thinking. Any idea how to phrase it?

Photoshopwiz, I just expected by your name that you're a fellow Mac person who would already know about iDisk. Yeah, it is pretty cool, ain't it? :)

Keep commenting, keep tweaking as needed...if there's another revision to be put up, crazycarman can send it to me and I'll post later today at the same site.

you would think i would know this...

~
but I'm not always up on the latest and greatest. I just email jpgs or psds!

The type is pretty darn small on the Ron Paul Liberty cards. Do you have one you could look at? You could easily go smaller on your taxtips card, if I could easily read your type in preview mode on that iDisk folder!

The Liberty Cards are pretty good looking and If you can find one online to look at and "lift" some of the copy, it would be nice. O, here y'go...

http://www.libertytalk.co...

Okay, I have to leave soon, but I will be in a computer lab and will keep checking in. (You also have my email) I will try to think of a line, but you may find something here:

http://www.apaulogist.com... (he just posted!)

photoshopwiz & fanofwalt...

I'm totally into adding more if we need to.... I think it'll be clear enough if we added more bullets, but I think the idea of adding something about how Ron Paul can win is a better idea... that's kinda why I wanted to put in that he's still in the race.... any suggestions on a "one-liner" that would be strong enough???

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Ah, there's the rub!

This is the crux of why so many people write off RP -- it takes more than a sound bite to explain his info in a fully comprehensible manner, and who has time for that when American Idol is coming on in five minutes?

You and I and everyone here understands how he can win, but, how to convincingly convey the idea that RP can win in one bullet point?
- "He really, really, really can win!"
- "Trust us; there's a plan; he CAN win!"
- "No time to explain here, but he can win!"

Yeah; I'm not doing so great with this one-liner. I wish I could somehow tack this onto the card.

Hello, other people? Ideas for this one-line assurance of real possibility?

As far as adding other stuff, the truth is, the simpler, the better (KISS). Focus on the most pertinent ideas, springboarding off of the no taxes on tips headline. I agree with you that we need to affirm the viability of an RP win.

I like those!

I like those!
I kinda like the idea of turning people on the way I was turned on which is.... DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!
Hence.... Do your own online research! He CAN win!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Cards are UP (No Tax on Tips)

You can view them at this site! Then come back here and add your feedback to the comments in this thread.

The front and inside are posted -- what is called "back" is actually the "inside" of the folded card (right, crazycar?) -- but the back of the card has not yet been designed. How about this idea:

Keep the back simple. Just "NO TAXES ON TIPS" and RonPaul2008.com. Then, we encourage people passing out these No Tax cards to take their very own local Meetup cards and affix one of those to the back of each card. This way, service workers receiving the No Tax card will also be alerted that there are local groups who are working to help get RP elected and also working in general to restore the Republic!

Thoughts?

Another approach

If this is not a fold-over card, perhaps some room can be left on the back (what I was calling the inside) so people can rubber-stamp in the url for their local Meetup -- I do think it's important for people to be able to connect with each other locally, and find like-minded folks!

One great advantage of having a "tent" style card is that it stands up, so other waitstaff or service people will see it, as well as customers. A flat card lies, well, flat. Still good! But, a tent card may reach more eyes.

Let's do this...

Let's use this one for just a business card (flat), which will be a little more cost effective for some THEN I'll make the "Tent Style" and share it here as well...
The issue I need help with is finding the right website so we can get the proper SIZE for the Tent Style.... the site you gace me below (Vista) has a "Folded Note Card"... then we can leave the whole back blank for Meetup stamps, etc.
Comments????

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

I do this at fast food joints all the time!

I keep RP flyers in my car. After I go through the drive though I always ask the person behind the window. Do you like paying taxes? Everybody knows the answer to that one. Then I hand them a RP card and tell them to check out this guy out. I converted my local Jack in the Box Manger for sure, he thanked me for telling him about the good dr.

That's a great idea!!!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

This sounds like a great

This sounds like a great idea. I can see a lot of people taking part in this promotion with it being such an easy thing to do. Maybe even leaving several cards along with the tip would be good so your server has a few to give to the other servers.

Anyhow, about printing, it might be worth checking out http://www.ronpaulprintin... to see if they can help. Their website says they only print the items listed, but maybe they would consider this as well. They do not charge for printing, only for shipping.

I checked out the site...

I checked out the site and there isn't a contact page... just home & order.... I wonder if anyone has an email address for them????

Great idea on leaving extras!!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

ronpaulprinting@sbcglobal.net

ronpaulprinting@sbcglobal.net is the email address listed on their domain name registration. Might try that one.

I have the front done...

I have the front done and fanofwalt is going to upload it for critique...
OvernightPrints.com will print 1,000 double sided glossy business cards for only $49.95 or 100 for $14.95... not too bad!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Standing by to receive

Incidentally, here's another company -- Vista Print --

1000 double-sided glossy for $32.98
250 for $16.98

I'd really hope to find a printer who is a known RP supporter, if we can. Surely they exist!

Wow... what a deal!

That's a great price!
I emailed you the art and I'm open for constructive criticism....
Let me know!!
Thanks!!

"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"

Yes

Tax on tips does reach many. Don't forget your hairdressers.

You could even have a two sided card that says even more than you have here. Those cards can pack the information. I think it is a great idea. I would even suggest a focus group to do nothing but contact these groups day in and day out and spread the word before November. See they think-Great, then they find out he would remove all income tax and they think-that won't work. Then someone tells them he wants to do away with the government and they give up hope. So they need to know he will stop tip tax with todays tax code. They need to know no income tax does not get rid of government.

Slim Jims And Dvds

I 've been telling them he wants to stop taxing tips and leaving them slim jims and /or dvds since Nov. 2007 they light up :)
