Easy to see why this beautiful country is chosen over all the rest by offshore patriots. Personal security and freedom. Live the life you love without fear or violence ( unless your a child abuser or equal ).

Working in Costa Rica?
I have read that it is for all practical purposes impossible for Americans or other foreigners to work in Costa Rica ---- can anyone tell me if this is truly correct? If so, then it might be a great place to retire to, but not all that practical if one is not retired or ready to retire (BTW, I have read that this is also true of many other "desirable" places to relocate).

Does Costa Rica have an organized militia similar to Switzerland's? How would they defend their country from another?
Switzerland is essentially a heavily fortified nation with basically every citizen responsible to help defend the country if it were attacked. There's a very good reason Hitler never invaded Switzerland.

There is no way Switzerland can be conquered. They have hidden military bases in the mountains, a treacherous terrain and more money than we can imagine. It is a beautiful country. A bit progressive for me but not overbearing on enforcement.
