Official Ron Paul Candidates

Editor's Note: I asked the campaign for a list of all the candidates Dr. Paul has endorsed so far, and this is what Jesse Benton sent me: (below)

Followup 5/7/2008: I received the following email from Tom Lizardo regarding Bill Johnson:

My name is Tom Lizardo. I work as Chief of Staff in Ron Paul's Congressional Office. Over the past several weeks, I have also been involved in assisting Dr Paul with the consideration of candidates who are seeking his endorsement for their campaigns. We have gone through the process of setting up a method by which candidates are to be considered for such endorsements. During that period, we have also received and reviewed requests from dozens of candidates.

Although Bill Johnson's name ended up on the endorsement list, he did not go through this process. In light of this fact, and in light of the revelations regarding his past statements and associations, Dr Paul has retracted the endorsement and hopes that, in the future, the process that has been put into place will mitigate the likelihood of similar errors.

Thank you for your inquiry on the topic.

Sincerely,

Tom Lizardo

who's been supported by dr paul in the san diego, California area? id like to vote for him or her

Micahel Benoit

I don't know that RP has officially endorsed him, but Michael Benoit, running for Congress in San Diego, was instrumental -- key, actually -- in getting RP to San Diego for that wonderful brunch, booksigning and rally on May 23rd. He's also the organizer of two (three?) San Diego Ron Paul Meetup groups.

Ron Paul Candidate, Pat Dixon Wins Election!

Congratulations to Pat Dixon! He was endorsed by Ron and he was elected yesterday to the Lago Vista city council (near Austin, Texas). Pat is the Chairman of the Texas LP.
Way to go, Pat!

Unfortunately, Kevin Tunstall did not win

He put up one heck of a fight against the old Tom DeLay machine though.

It's not just Rehberg, Broun and Singh must go too

Tom Lizardo in Ron's DC office is responsible for approving the endorsements. He admitted last week that errors were made and a retraction of Bill Johnson's happened. But, more of these guys have to go:

Rehberg - the MT warmonger

Amit Singh: War profiteer and NSA spy guy who thinks the 4th amendment to the constitution is a "distraction". Fortunately, he won't get past Mark Ellmore in the primary, but this hurts Ron's credibility.

Paul Broun: Among other things, he considers himself the self-appointed master of morality:
http://www.military.com/features/0,15240,167090,00.html?ESRC...

Remember, these guys are getting the $$$ that we donated to Ron's congressional primary. I've already called the DC office to voice my disapproval. Here's the number: 202-225-2831.

Did we run out of real libertarian candidates that deserve our money?

I can't even begin to tell

I can't even begin to tell you how sick it makes us to know that rehberg could be getting some of the hard-earned money we donated to Dr Paul......

**the soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears**

Call Ron's DC office 202-225-2831

And let them know where you stand.

add

JC cunningham from Massachusetts for US House of Reps

PLEASE REMOVE Rehberg - MT

from this list! Obviously, Rehberg's voting record has not been reviewed at all....there is No Way denny is a Ron Paul candidate and to continue to list him here is Damaging Dr Paul's image and credibility here in Montana thereby making our work much Harder. See the posts below for just a bit of supporting evidence (the list of evidence would be Much too long to post here) as to why Denny Rehberg has absolutely No business being on this highly esteemed list. Please Remove Him....thank you.

**the soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears**

Important

Vern McKinley is a very smart candidate and the first Ron Paul Republican, who announced his candidacy against Frank Wolf (R-VA district 10) even before Dr. Paul announced his candidacy for president. The primary is on the 10th of June, thus not much time left, and if he wins the primary, he will probably win in November too as it is a GOP stronghold. Dr. Paul referred to him in congress years ago.

Can Dr. Paul or someone with his campaign contact him soon and arrange a personal meeting for an endorsement of him, with a youtube video (like with Amit Singh) as well as a fundraising banquet, perhaps on the same day as Amit's?

http://www.mckinleyforcongress.com

email: info @ mckinleyforcongress .com

www.libertymaven.com - that supports Dr. Paul 100% - has already had interview's with him and very impressed.
Vern has also been endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus, just like B J Lawson etc.

I have been thinking: can Dr. Paul or someone with him arrange for a Barry Goldwater Jr. and/or ex-gov. Gary Johnson endorsement and possible fundraising for Vern? This could gave additional strong effect, as Wolf would not be easy to beat.
I think any helpers in Virginia and neighboring states would also be welcomed
and donate for him also. He had a moneybomb on 1st of May, do not know how much money was raised. Vern has a very impressive CV and international experience.

He sent me the very same

He sent me the very same "Bush-ese" letter. He also voted For the Thought Crime Prevention Bill, voted For the Patriot Act, Refused to support any investigation whatsoever into Bush and Cheney's lies, war crimes, or the 978 laws they have allegedly broken. He says he supports the rights of Montanans but consistently votes against them once he gets to Washington. (Check out his voting record and be prepared to vomit.) I could go on and on....Rehberg cares nothing about his oath of office, he just sits and rubber-stamps whatever Bush pushes. Not only that, but Montanans (by a margin of 2:1) voted for term limits and he has exceeded those term limits. IF he cared about the voice of Montanans at all, he wouldn't even be running. Please remove him from this list....he's truly one of the Last people who should be on it.

**the soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears**

Question

Can you/the local RP meetup group get a good candidate to run against him?
Dr. Paul fared quite well during the primary in Montana, thus a "RP quality candidate" should have a good chance of beating him.

Agreed

I'm in western Montana too but have extensive contacts throughout the state. Do you have any ideas? Letter from Rehberg

When asked to vote NO on FISA, this is the response I received.

May 7, 2008

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act. It's good to hear from you.

Earlier this year, Director of National Intelligence Adm. Michael McConnell informed Congress that antiquated provisions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) were forcing him to get court orders to monitor terrorist communications and preventing him from collecting a significant amount of intelligence on terrorist activities. The FISA law, originally passed in 1978, has forced our intelligence community to go through red tape in order to intercept electronic communications among foreign suspects who are outside the U.S.

On August 4, 2007 the House passed, with my support, an updated, bi-partisan version of the FISA legislation called the Protect America Act of 2007. In order to safeguard the civil liberties of Americans, this legislation contains a provision requiring FISA court approval in order to conduct any surveillance that would target an American. However, the House Democratic leadership in the House allowed these provisions to expire on February 16, 2008.

I'm disappointed that the House Democratic leadership are willing to compromise the security of American families for the sake of politics. The Senate, the President, House Republicans, and even some House Democrats were willing to come to the table and negotiate a bill to keep our country secure. Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi decided to allow this vital provision to expire.

The Protect America Act brings the outdated Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) of 1978 into line with current technological capabilities while adding appropriate liability protections for patriotic third parties who have helped defend our country.

The House of Representatives must pass this critical legislation without delay to ensure that Americans are protected from those who want to do us harm. I will do everything I can to ensure that these important protections are reinstated.

Thanks again for contacting me. If you get a chance, I encourage you to visit my website at http://www.house.gov/rehberg where you can find the latest news about what's happening in Congress. Also, if you haven't already done so, please be sure to sign up for my free E-Newsletter at http://www.house.gov/rehberg/newsletter/ which will help keep you up-to-date with what is going on in Washington, DC and how it affects Mo ntana. Check out the new campaign website at peterjames08.com/new

I have a general election on June17th(my birthday). That means I can take office this summer with your help.

On May 6th we had a general special election for county council. It got a whooping 4.3% turnout.

If there was ever an easy lection to win for a Ron Paul Republican this is it.

Your strong support will make it happen. I decided not to waste time and money raising money for my primary campaign and paid for it myself. Even though antoher supposed Ron Paul candidate came from outside the distirct to run, I won handlely in a 4 way race a full 13% ahead of the next closest challenger.

But now I need to raise not a lot fo money but a decent amount to assure 25k votes.

I believe people falsely assume that it takes money to win an election. This is true if your not very creative. But PR, robo calls and automated phone surveys are dirt cheap and can be used to drive voters to your website.

Any of your here with businesses can share mailing costs with me and have your advertising sent to my target mailers. We are target mailing liberty doctors, homeowners, business owners, etc.

I need Ron Paul supporters to stop posting and start chipping in. I have received two donations so far from other candidates. I need your donation each reader hear should donate something at my sight(After they have read my web site. Read "a letter home from the troops/Stay the course" for my position on the war.

I am developing a campaign automation web portal that will be available to all liberty candidates who can share the costs.

This includes:

2)list web scrapper and phone number extractor.
3)web based volunteer management syste see peterjames08.com/ronpaul prototype

Denny Rehberg - NO!!

My support for Ron Paul is unwavering but I must admit I was Appalled to see this endorsement of Denny Rehberg. Rehberg has repeatedly violated his oath of office and is the epitome of a neo-con with few or no principles. He certainly has ignored the will of us Montanans! Denny has been a solid rubber-stamper for Bush. Even an endorsement from Ron Paul will not motivate me or anyone else I know to vote for Rehberg. I am inclined to think that perhaps this endorsement was made in error......

"I believe David Gay is the best qualified candidate to serve in the US Congress from the 25th district of New York. David believes very strongly in the traditional Republican principles of constitutionally limited government and free enterprise. I am happy to give him my endorsement."

Singh Endorsement Undermines Ron

Ron has retracted his endorsement of Bill Johnson because of his past statements on race. But Amit Singh has actually helped oppress the American people with NSA and TIA spying on dissidents. He has also personally profited from Pentagon wars. This is 180 degrees out from what Ron believes in and fights for.

Here's the link to Lizard's statement about endorsement errors and retractions:

http://opinion.latimes.com/opinionla/2008/05/ron-paul-statem...

Tom Lizardo and Ron should review and retract this endorsement too!.

Amit Singh

After reviewing amit website and personally corresponding with him it is my opinion that he will vote with Ron Paul at least 80% of the time and has a good chance to win.

Ron Retracts Endorsement

The following is a quote from Tom Lizardo, Ron's chief of staff in the DC office that appeared in the LA Times blog:

"Over the past several weeks, I have also been involved in assisting Dr Paul with the consideration of candidates who are seeking his endorsement for their campaigns. We have gone through the process of setting up a method by which candidates are to be considered for such endorsements. During that period, we have also received and reviewed requests from dozens of candidates.

http://opinion.latimes.com/opinionla/2008/05/ron-paul-statem...

So, Lizardo is admitting that errors have been made and will be corrected. With that said, we must get Ron to review Rehberg and Amit Singh (the Gov't spy guy). Neither of these candidates are qualified to be Ron Paul Candidates......nor should they be given money that was contributed by us to Ron's campaign(s).

So much for the Ron Paul “revolution”
May 8, 2008 in Denny Rehberg, Regressives, Ron Paul

by Jay Stevens

You may remember that both Pete Talbot and I went to see Ron Paul when he made his appearance here in Missoula, and we both liked some of the things he was saying.

Pete:

Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul has a seductive message: get the U.S. out of Iraq, get the government out of personal lives, and put the country on a sound financial footing….

To probably the biggest applause of the evening: “End this war!” — it’s hard not to agree with that.

“How you spread democracy is by setting an example” and, hinting at the current administration, “we should teach a few people in this country about democracy.”

He’s anti-Patriot Act. He opposes FISA and warrantless searches. He’s against torture: “We’re known around the world as torturers.”

Our current economic policy “destroys the middle class and sends money to the Wall Street rich.”

And I even gave Paul kudos for speaking out for traditional conservative values, like sane fiscal policies:

And, while I certainly don’t share Paul’s vision of a crippled government, of regressive taxes and deregulation of business, it was at least refreshing to hear a Republican genuinely embrace those issues, and to see his supporters passionately voice their support to those ideas. It was certainly a marked contrast to the actions, voting records, and deeds of the current incarnation of the GOP at the state and national levels, which seems dedicated to bloated, inefficient government, irresponsible fiscal management, and authoritarianism.

It should definitely come as a surprise and a disappointment to Paul fans that his rhetoric appears to be just that: hot air.

Why, do you ask, am I saying this?

He endorsed Dennis Rehberg.

Can you think of a Republican who more embodies everything that Ron Paul was speaking out against in the UC Ballroom? Does Rehberg support the war, and has he supported it since its inception? Check. Did he gladly support the administration’s illegal “anti-terror” policies? Check. Is he one of the “spend-and-run” Republicans? Check.

I already quoted Rehberg from the Choteau shrimp peel, but it’s worth repeating in context of Paul’s endorsement:

Rehberg, giving an overview of national politics, defended George W. Bush’s policies and “You bet I defend George Bush.” The current president’s policies will someday be viewed as successes in a historic perspective, he said. Rehberg said Americans have enjoyed safety and no more attacks on U.S. soil since 9-11 because Bush took the war on terrorism abroad.

Really, what else can we possibly think of Ron Paul after this move, other than he really didn’t mean much of what he said here in Missoula? I mean, really? You support Dennis Rehberg

Murray Sabrin and B.J. Lawson

Just contributed to their campaign with my check and "Loan Money" sent out to the American Citizens to get the economy going again..lol!!! Go Murray and B.J !!! I couldn't think of a better "Investment" , than in our future leaders. God Bless Ron Paul and The New American R3VoLuTiOn!!! :)

Is there any reason why

Is there any reason why Murray Sabrin is not on this endorsement list above?

Since the Bill Johnson for

Since the Bill Johnson for Judge Meetup group has banned anyone asking questions about his past, the info will have to posted elsewhere to hopefully force this guy to address the accusations one way or the other. After minimal additional digging around:

The Truth about Bill Johnson

It's pretty easy to say that Bill Johnson is racist, after all he looks white, though I believe he's 25% or 50% Japanese, more than twice what amy31416 (aka GB) said he wrote a person should be to be an American, but since he looks white he is an easy target for racists accusations by those trying to sabotage a campaign, just like the accusations Ron Paul has had to deal with.

I've never heard of the Prometheus 6 web site, a site that GB quoted to cast doubt on Bill Johnson supporters, but to use a race group-centric web blog as GB's primary credible reference source should raise questions to the foundations of GB's argument and how GB thinks, because Ron Paul has set a high standard of thinking about people as individuals not as groups, so why would GB be reading and quoting from a site that is against the fundamental principals of Ron Paul if GB truly is a Ron Paul supporter.

As far as the Opinion column author Robert Greene, I found it interesting that he wrights self help books about "How to crush your competitor", "How to secure the corner office" and "How to take over your supervisors position", note: Law #3 of his book "The 48 Laws of Power" is 'Conceal Your Intentions', sounds like a dishonest power hungry individual who's intentions should obviously be questioned.

If you had ever met Bill Johnson in any of the Ron Paul activities and meetings that he participated in, organized and hosted, you would know, as all of us know, he is the kindest and most generous freedom loving Ron Paul activist, and none that know him would believe is any kind of a racist.

If you live in LA and are a Ron Paul activists, you would know Bill Johnson, and the video here, is not Bill Johnson:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UdFsL9iy84

I didn't know he ran for congress, but I did know he was a Democrat and changed parties to join Ron Paul in his quest to spread Ron Paul's message of freedom and encourage America to believe once again in our constitution, he still stands for the same values today as he has stood for as his archived site shows:

1. Bring all the troops home from Iraq
2. Protect our rights to bear arms
3. Right to privacy
4. Cut federal spending
5. No tax increases
6. Opposes government secrecy

http://web.archive.org/web/20060813131502/www.gobilljohnson....

I've been by his side:
1. as he has hosted both the LA and Pasadena monthly meetups at his home and office
2. as he was the Organizer from the beginning of the Pasadena meetup when Bill Dumas left to join Ron Paul on the campaign trail
3. as he organized and held one of the 'R O N P A U L' signs seen at the rose parade by over 40 million television viewers:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=F82Patrp6aQ
4. as he hosted the construction of the signs and crates I organized that were thrown over the Santa Monica pier on December 16th:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=pqD1K6lvY0g

Bill Johnson has been very generous and kind and eager to do anything he can to promote truth and freedom.

Some say the Ron Paul Bill Johnson group is trying to stop people from asking honest questions. Yet we all believe we should be able to pose questions, in fact we have to, even hard ones, but there is proper etiquette in how such leading questions of slander should be asked. If you have questions of someone, such as these, you go directly to them, if you don't get your answer, you go to their leaders, if you don't get an answer, you go to the community.

These were not honest questions, they were an attack, they were quoting black separatist blogs and an opinion column written by a power hungry author, Robert Greene, who admittedly can't be trusted and promotes such ideas of destroying your enemy, usurping power and seduction which is only a ploy of deception.

Bill Johnson is not a racist, his central focus of business is working with Japanese, he lived in Japan and majored in Japanese and all of us in So Cal meetups who have worked with him know he is not a racist.

GB's email was sent out to the entire group the same day GB joined one RP group, the Bill Johnson for Judge group and should be obvious enough to anyone where GB's intentions lie.

What these "questions" have done is shaken and divide us, what this attack should do is unite us, this is not an attack on Bill Johnson, it is an attack on the highest position any of us has sought to be elected to in Southern California, it is an attack on the Ron Paul Revolution.

Bill Johnson

Completely separate from questions of racism or bigotry or whatever, I find several examples of positions espoused by Johnson on his Democratic campaign website that, in my opinion, are not at all in line with Ron Paul Republicanism. The following are all copied and pasted from that website:

No Refugees - At the end of all past conflicts, America has taken in a large number of refugees from countries we have fought. This time we should not make immigration available to the vanquished Iraqis.

Health Care Reform
Bill Johnson intends to give serious consideration to a universal health care system similar to the Massachusetts State example of mandatory health coverage. This plan would require all persons to procure and maintain health coverage either through their employers or as an individual. No subsidies or coverage would be available to illegal immigrants.

Role of Corporations in America
Corporations and business enterprise play a vital role in America, but under the leadership of special-interest Republicans, that role has been obscured. Businesses should not have as its primary goal the generation of shareholder profits and excessive executive compensation--at the expense of society, the environment and the worker. Corporate America should be encouraged to establish the following goals in the following order:
• Provide valuable goods and services to its customers
• Provide living wages to its employees, and a working environment that will enable the employee to enjoy life in the fullest
• Promote sound environmental policies that will help preserve this great land for our descendants.
If the corporations will embrace these goals, then government must reciprocate. This means that the government must reduce taxes, government expenditures, and the size and reach of government. We must also dramatically reduce the current litigious environment that acts to redistribute wealth to litigants and their legal counsel.
In order to earn easy profits and to drive down domestic labor costs, Republican policies encourage the outsourcing of jobs overseas and illegal immigration. They also are not as sensitive to environmental concerns as they should be. Traditional Democrats promote the environment and the work force, while creating a business environment that corporate leadership embraces.

Environment and Energy
Bill Johnson is an environmentalist. Dealing with the nation?s energy problem is a top priority. He strongly supports legislation that will preserve our nation?s natural resources for future generations. It is important to cut day-to-day consumption by all segments of society. Steps to curtail global warming should be given top priority.

Science Education in School
Bill Johnson will support science education in school. Intelligent design is an appropriate topic for church, but not the schoolroom.

Thanks stuff

I'm the one who got banned from the meetup. I have a sinking suspicion that Bill Johnson is playing all of them, and is certainly not being honest about his past or possibly even how he feels now.

I was banned without having

I was banned without having even made a post.
