A neo-con friend of mine sent me this video link- to make his point that our 'war' is not the result of "a relatively new theory" called blowback, but simply the religion of Islam that teaches 'kill the infidels.'
I would love to hear your comments before I reply.

This woman's only real answer is to "educate" ourselves and the Muslim communities in our midst and not to take this "cancer" laying down. Which I thought was a weak response for someone who has been through such horror.
My action would be what I THINK Dr. Paul would do, not sure. But if we are hit anywhere around the world, we use our superior intelligence (not the stuff we used for 9/11) to find and kill the exact perpetrators of the crime immediately. If we as a nation had been doing this from the beginning, then I don't think these things would happen. The mother's and father's of the perpetrators need to be held responsible instead of rewarded. Instead, we bomb countries from above. Insane, in my opinion. Sure the children are indoctrinated, but they can be unindocrinated. Dr. Paul says hit our enemy hard, fast and precisely and then come back home. I go for that 100%. He says leave other countries to take care of their problem the way they will. I go for that too.

Please Remember Why We Are Hated
For decades America has been intervening into the affairs of Muslims by planting our troops and large military complexes in the MIDDLE of their holy land. We have supported one Muslim based country to help destroy another and then turn our backs to ones that we have supported only a few years later. We have covertly tried and have successfully sabotaged their monetary system affecting millions of Muslim citizens in name of "freedom". We given aid to the citizens of these countries and just as they become hooked on our generosity, just like the current welfare state in the US, we turnaround and take it away in the form of sanctions and leave those people who rely on our help to parish. Our wars have dislocated millions of families who had nothing to do with terrorism and just shrug it off as collateral damage and one of the unfortunate aspects of war. If I were faced with such peril, I would rally the troops to destroy those who did this to me, my family, and my country. In fact, things like market manipulation and unfounded wars are cause enough for me to rally the troops to get Ron Paul as our leader.
Are there religious ideals out there that are clearly anti-American? Absolutely. Our policies have lead to a rapid growing base of terrorists that want us the hell out of their lands and I would whole heartedly expect our citizens to do the same exact thing in the face of losing some of the most basic necessities of life in the name of a war on a tactic of terrorism.

Oh geez, this movie again- read up on who's the man behind it and you'd see he's the type of person that does no research.
Anyone who's trying to link the Quran into promoting violence doesn't know how to read and selects verses without reading the one beforehand.
The Quran does say that there are times when war is necessary- and that is when you are being attacked and oppressed. Islam is also never supposed to be IMPOSED on anyone- even if someone tries to do it, they're completely in the wrong.
There are also many examples of "Hadith"(supposed sayings of Muhammad that were written down) that are falsely attributed to him(pretty easy to do considering most of them were recorded 200 years after his death) and contradict the Quran so don't use that as a basis to condemn the religion.
Are there some extremists? Yes, but they've never read the Quran in their life and just use it as an excuse to obtain another goal.
Its insane how much of a pass people give to US foreign policy- and try to find whatever excuse so they can say "See its not our fault! They're just crazy bad guys!" That's childish and ridiculous- its time people looked at our destructive policy for what it is. Just look at the recent airstrike in Somalia- where we killed a supposed Al-Qaeda leader(along with 10 other people), when the rebel movement in Somalia has nothing to do with Al-Qaeda and is more nationalist. Don't be surprised if people from Somalia want US soldiers dead after that fact.

Islam as written is plain evil? I'm a practicing muslim and I know exactly what Islam is- people like bin-laden aren't even Muslim because of their actions and encouragement of killing.
They don't quote verse after verse of anything- I've spoken to a number of people who at one point agreed with the "terrorists" and they didn't have any understanding of the Quran themselves- trust me, these people are uneducated or brainwashed- but they definitely didn't get those ideas from reading the Quran. They might select a verse they think sounds nice but don't know what they're talking about- I had enough of people thinking that these tribal terrorists are somehow more legit when they speak on Islam. They don't know a damn thing.
Islam hasn't brought any barbarity to women- that's what you have to understand. Many things like female genital mutilation, or denying women education- ARE NOT Islamic- they are backwards cultural issues that pre-dated Islam but continue to be practiced in those societies. Saudi Arabia is one of the worst examples- it is one of the most Un-Islamic countries there is. The main problem in most of these countries are the government's that impose ridiculous laws then claim they are Islamic because some random scholar agrees with them using no basis from the Quran at all. That's not what true Islam is.

I am soooo glad to see this comment here today. It's incredibly timely for me. I was out canvassing yesterday and I met a pastor who is voting for mccain. I engaged him in a chat about it and it ended up with him saying he was voting mccain cuz mccain "gets" the "islamofascism threat". When I pushed a bit, he said that he would Not base his vote on principle and Dr Paul is unelectable. I went back to my car and cried.

In Islam Mohammed is a prophet but the greatest prophet is the Koran. The reason for this is in part the Muslims saw how the early church hid the teachings of Christ and used them to manipulate the people.
That's why it's so important that the Koran is copied perfectly using only arabic and is freely avaliable. That doesn't prevent it's teaching from being pervered but it is an attempt to help safeguard it from that.
So, no Genghis, if militant islamic extremist were to confront you they would not leave you alone unless you agreed to submit to the five pillars of Islam and learn the holy tongue of arabic.

I hear WAY too much about "Armageddon" myself. It is not only the Islamic folks that have a radical, murderous fringe. And, religion is the ultimate "scare tactic" of the neocons, in my observation. What they can't get out of people with threats of loss of money or reputation, they get with threats of eternal damnation.
