Gold Bomb
I would like to gauge the support of this crowd for a unique type
of "money bomb," to commemorate the 60th anniversary today of the publication of an essay on gold by Congressman Howard
Buffett, father of left-leaning fiat money billionaire Warren:
(Incidentally, Howard Buffett knew a young Murray Rothbard
quite well, who as many of us know was close ro RP)
I know that there are more than a few of you who understand
the monetary issues that plague us due to the lack of a gold standard. This article can serve as a primer for those attracted to the Paul candidacy for other reasons. Now I understand that RP does not plan to run as a 3rd candidate, which leaves us with no credible alternative to choose from in the upcoming election. However, akin to Michael Jordan's 1st two retirements, a small door has been left open.
I thought that it would be a good idea to show our support for gold as money, not to mention helping ourselves. The current economic climate leaves much to be desired, unfortunately, and for that we can lay the blame at the feet of the Fed. I believe that the time has come to turn to other media of exchange; honest media between traders that will bear no inflation. So what if RP supporters exchanged some of their paper money for gold, and pooled it together as a show of support for his stance on gold as money? As far as the "bomb" part is concerned, a portion of that gold can be allocated to RP if he were to decide to run as a third party candidate against the Demopublcans. The portion of course would be decided by each individual who exchanged paper for gold. You can see here what a pre-1933 dollar bill looked like, when it could be exchanged for gold: http://upload.wikimedia.o...
I thought that if enough gold were put together for both a bomb for RP and a hedge against the inflationary environment we're all doomed for (as long as the Fed exists), we might be able to change his mind on the subject. Taking it up a notch, I believe that our best protection from fiat money inflation would be to utilize the Internet's capabilities and trade amongst ourselves using gold and other honest media. For those interested in this concept, I would suggest this speech from the 90s delivered at CATO, which centers on the theme from Atlas Shrugged: http://www.electric-ameri...
(was glad to see that RP included Atlas in his reading list of his new book)
That's all; any thoughts?
