Ron Paul can win(McCain one scandal away from oblivion)

As the mainstream media obsesses over the Democratic Party’s brewing civil war, supporters of Republican presidential candidate US Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, are already staging their own quiet uprising at GOP conventions across the nation.
If, by a strange twist of fate, the Republicans’ presumptive nominee, US Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., fails to win the first ballot at the national convention, “all hell will break loose,” one Santa Fe County delegate tells SFR.
Paul’s grassroots and netroots campaign is attempting to stack the deck with what can only be called “cryptodelegates”—elected delegates to the national convention who are privately supporting Paul’s presidential bid. They would be “bound” to vote for McCain on the first ballot, but may vote for whomever they choose if the nomination is forced to a second ballot.
Already, hell is breaking loose at the county and state levels, especially in the Southwest. YouTube video of the Nevada State Convention last week shows chaos and confusion after a super-majority coalition of state delegates, organized by Paul supporters, overturned party rules to allow new national delegates to be nominated from the convention floor. The Nevada leadership shut down the convention and is currently negotiating a new date. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the Nevada caucuses with 51 percent of the vote, but Paul beat McCain 14 percent to 13 percent. New Mexico Republicans will not vote for their nominee until June 3.
Similar skirmishes have been reported in small-town newspapers from Maine to Texas. Furthermore, much of Paul’s campaign is driven by the 9/11 Truth Movement, which has grown increasingly aggressive, staging disruptions at events ranging from HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher to public appearances by Bill Clinton.
In New Mexico, Republicans are allowed to self-nominate themselves as national delegates, provided they were registered with the party before the
Paul’s supporters pushed his book to No. 1 on Amazon; can they do the same for Paul at the GOP convention?
Governor’s Address on Jan. 15. Last week, the local parties held their County Quadrennial Conventions to nominate delegates to the state convention, where the national delegates will be elected. The New Mexico GOP does not release the names of the state delegates to the media.
However, according to Paul’s New Mexico field coordinator, Jeff Wright, Paul’s delegate count looks good. Wright tells SFR that 19 out of 25 of Santa Fe County’s delegates, seven out of nine of Lincoln County’s delegates and more than 50 of Bernalillo County’s 156 delegates, are Paul supporters.
At the state convention on June 14, 29 delegates and 29 alternates will be elected for the September national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. New Mexico will send a total of 32 national delegates, including three party officials.
“Part of what’s going on, as the candidates run across the country, is that we’re receiving a disproportionate number of the actual delegates,” Wright says. “In Colorado, Ron Paul could receive a majority of the delegates. There’s a high probability that McCain could be denied a first-round ballot nomination.”
But a Paul supporter cannot be identified by sight. The New Mexico page of Paul’s campaign Web site (ronpaul2008.com/states/new-mexico) tells supporters: “It is not recommended for any of the delegate candidates at this stage to ‘fly the colors’ as Ron Paul supporters. Delegates should simply represent themselves as interested, involved and committed Republicans.”
Marta Nystrom, an investment advisor and educator in Santa Fe, was elected as a state delegate. She says she’s not interested in becoming a national delegate, but plans to send pro-Paul delegates to Minneapolis in September, both with her convention vote and by fundraising for travel expenses.
“Even if McCain wins on the first ballot, delegates [supporting Paul] at the national convention can still influence the party’s platform,” Nystrom tells SFR via e-mail. “We are in this for the long haul; not the short term. We didn’t lose our country overnight; we won’t regain it overnight either.”

The Manchurian Candidate and the Constitutionalist
McCain is extremely vulnerable. The Democrat candidates are not attacking him. This may be that they feel they can torpedo him with the information about his conduct while a POW. Or it might be something as simple as just waiting for him to meltdown (or blow up) when they turn the pressure up. If this is the case, it needs to happen BEFORE the Republican Convention.
It may also be that it's McCain's turn. As much as the two Democrat contenders want to be president, they know what can happen if they defy the powers that be. They may be prepared to lose gracefully, but the way they are tearing at each other, it looks to me like they are fighting for the position.
McCain has been strangely silent (or maybe the media has been giving him the silent treatment). McCain may be too unstable for the New World Order crowd to use. Whatever the truth, McCain does not have much credibility within Republican ranks. Neo-Con mouthpieces on the radio keep trying to rally the troops, but have to keep apologizing for the disgusting performance of the Republicans. It must be difficult to try to portray the Republican Party as a bastion of Conservativism, considering that they have outspent the Democrats, waged war on the civil rights of the American people, and tried to make war-mongering patriotic. The Republicans, by and large, have dismissed the idea of returning to honest money (gold and silver). They have shown that they are willing to go along with attempts at civilian disarmament, a demonstration of bi-partisan betrayal.
I think that we need to keep spreading the Ron Paul message of freedom. Simultaneously, we should be exposing McCain as just another mouthpiece for the Council on Foreign Relations. Ron Paul has created tremendous understanding of the real problems facing this nation, and exposing the phony ones. He has done this in spite of a blackout by the CFR media.
If Huck and Muck come back in
then they'll just split the war vote with McInsane. That will leave Ron with a unique, traditionally Republican, position against all those neocons. As long as Ron gets a chance to speak, he'll do what he always does: inspire his fans and convert skeptics.
It ain't a done deal. And Huck and Muck aren't in a position to do anything much.
Get real
If Huck or Muck come back, it will only be if McCain is out.
And even then it will almost certainly be Muck, not Huck.
He can still win if he
He can still win if he leaves the GOP. The odds that he'll win the GOP nomination are extremely low.
I support him running to educate the public, but this "he'll still win the nomination when McCain stumbles" thing is a flight of fantasy.
If you actually LISTEN to Dr. Paul in his TV interviews, he says this in fairly plain speech. He's staying in to educate. If you want him to win, he has to run independent or Third Party. That's the reality.

That one scandal could be (and should be!) Black Mesa...

Wish you luck there.
We Native Americans screamed about it for years and never got into the first 2/3rds of a newspaper, much less on TV.
About 1 million of us vote.. so we're not a big enough voting bloc to be considered human to them.

The truthers comment was a backhanded slap.
But if Jeff Wright is the one that I think he is, then NM and CO are in good hands.
Of course, but a relatively
Of course, but a relatively truthful one.
It's actually another sign we are less out of touch than people who support McCain. It's intended as a smear but it has no traction. Until a couple of years ago when they starting reading the opinion polls, the Press was smearing people who want to stop illegal immigration, too.

Don't Romney and Huckabee have more delagates?
Ron Paul can win???
Don't Romney and Huckabee each have more delegates than Ron Paul?
Some RP supporters seem to think that if McCain dropped out for some reason that RP would be the Republican candidate, but there is no evidence supporting that.
First, I believe Romney and Huckabee simply suspended their campaigns. They're still in the running if something happens to McCain.
Second, a lot has to change before someone like RP would be sufficiently popular to win the GOP nomination. The RP book is a step in that direction, but large numbers of people who are not currently RP supporters need to read it and think about it. Is even that happening?
Let's be realistic, folks.
PLUS Romney is the favorite
PLUS Romney is the favorite of the GOP media talking heads as well.
If there's a brokered convention, Ron Paul still is unlikely to win.

I've only seen your name posted twice
And I am already sick to death of you. You've changed your name apparently, because you have been here a long time. What is your purpose, as if I don't know. We are the biggest bunch of conspiracy busting, realistic folks you will ever meet. You are the unrealistic one if you even think someone else should be president. All we can do is work and pray Ron Paul will be the President. Or we are socialistic/fascist/communistic and definitely not the America we thought we were. Why don't you go tell the other three just to come right out and tell the American people what their policies actually mean to us. You go tell them, and don't come back.
Ron Paul's campaign was never seriously about winning
You are the unrealistic one if you even think someone else should be president.
If you gathered from anything I wrote that I think someone else besides Ron Paul should be president, you have seriously misinterpreted the meaning of my words, or I really botched what I wrote.
All we can do is work and pray Ron Paul will be the President.
You think that's all we can do? If that's what you think, you're not paying attention to even Ron Paul, much less me.
If you think Ron Paul was ever serious about winning, you haven't been paying attention. Even when Stephanopoulos put him on the spot almost a year ago, asking him why he was running, his answer was not very persuasive. He hesitated and said, "well, to win", almost with a questioning tone. It was clear that winning was certainly not his one and only main purpose.
From the moment Ron Paul entered this race his primary purpose has been to spread the message of individual liberty, non-intervention foreign policy, self-government, gold standard, etc., and he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. His book is on the Amazon and NY Times Bestseller list! Never would he or anyone else have predicted that when he entered the election. This campaign has been the biggest coup for the promoting of minarchical libertarianism since Atlas Shrugged was published. Winning, at best, was a long-shot goal.
I suggest you get realistic and put things in perspective. Perhaps save this post and read it again in five years, when, hopefully, you'll be able to understand it, along with my other posts.

Yes
Plan all you want. That is good. But that is not what he is saying.
But Dr. Paul is the one who will decide what direction our plans will take. However, that doesn't stop us from having some scenarios prepared. We should have the plans and the answers to how to execute the plans in the wings waiting for Dr. Paul to tell us which direction he will take.
I agree...but if you listen
I agree...but if you listen to Dr. Paul in interviews, he's admitting McCain pretty much has it locked up. Listen to today's Neil Cavuto interview.
Hence if we are to have a winning strategy for electing him president, it will HAVE to be a new one. And he listens to us!

Minarchist for President!
ANYONE can be nominated, even someone we've never heard of before.
I believe the rules say, all it takes to be considered is a demonstration of majority support from 5 state delegations.
If McCain dropped, there's no guarantee it would be anyone we know.
IMissLiberty
Ron Paul has already won with his campaign!
But the point is the libertarian philosophy, though greatly popularized (relatively speaking) by Ron Paul, is still supported by a small minority within the GOP (much less the country overall). So a libertarian candidate is not going to get selected in the near future. This is why Ron Paul's primary focus has always been on promoting the message, not winning the nomination. He knows, and always knew, that the best he can do is plant seeds of liberty for the future (that means you and me), and the more he can do that the better. And he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.
Given his original purpose, Ron Paul has already won with his campaign! This forum is evidence of that (well, it would be if there was more emphasis on liberty and less on wacky Truther conspiracies).
No digg from me
"Furthermore, much of Paul’s campaign is driven by the 9/11 Truth Movement"
This campaign is driven by The Constitution and those who believe in it, which includes both people who are considered 9/11 truthers as well as those who are not. The Constitution is what unites us and drives us all in our efforts with Ron Paul's campaign.
