An Ultimatum Strategy
OK, Ron has said he doesn't plan to run for President on a third party or independent ticket. I think he's left himself enough wiggle room to do otherwise, but that may not be the best option.
Problem is, the two parties most closely aligned with Ron's views are the Libertarian and Constitution parties. Both have their conventions before June, while the Republican convention is in September. Ron can't hold out to see how he fares in the GOP without losing every opportunity to run for President on either of those tickets.
But there are other options.
What if both nominees from the Libertarian and Constitution parties declared Ron (with his permission) as a running mate should he not obtain the GOP nomination? They could name alternates in the event he does win -- or maybe close down shop altogether to support him. One extremely interesting possibility is that Jesse Ventura, who has been angling for an entree into this spat during his book tour, decides to seek the nomination of either of those parties (he can't do it as an independent, as he keeps saying, because he can't get ballot status at this stage). Yes, Chuck Baldwin is an impressive candidate for the Constituion Party, and it looks like Bob Barr might have the edge for the LP -- both credible candidates. Ventura's star appeal (and popularity as a governor) could trump both of them if he chose. And he's already talked about having Ron as a running mate on interviews with major media personalities.
In this scenario, Ron completes his run for the GOP nomination, but has as his "ace in the hole" a VP spot on the ballot should he not win.
That leaves the GOP with a tough situation. McCain is already on life support, whether they acknowledge it or not. Add into the mix Ron Paul as a part of an opposing ticket that appeals to conservatives and libertarians (more than McC does!), and you have the makings of a powerful ultimatum:
GOP, if you don't want to suicide in 2008, you have only one choice: nominate Ron Paul. If you don't, McCain will go down in smoke by such a large margin that the party may never recover.
Now, as pushy as that sounds, it's really just a call for them to come back to their Goldwaterite roots -- and who could fault that? (OK, I know....)
Furthermore, it is important that this ultimatum be made not just to the functionaries in the GOP, but broadcast far and wide. If ordinary Republican voters don't understand what's at stake, they won't pressure party leaders to dump McCain and support Ron.
It's high time Republicans thought ahead to the general election and realized that McCain can be sunk by so many different closet skeletons and policy farts that he is on the fast track to drag the GOP into oblivion.
Yes, many believe (not unreasonably) that the GOP has fielded McCain specifically to LOSE the election, leaving Obillary to wallow in the crap ensuing from current policies, with no means of extrication. That would allegedly leave the GOP in prime position to reclaim leadership in four years. But in four years this country will be in the deepest depression since 1929 (and maybe worse). We need to impress upon Republican voters and delegates that such sacrifice in the name of partisan politics is absolutely insane.
How bad could it be to return the Republican Party to its libertarian-conservative roots? That is, to those principles that would have prevented the calamity descending upon us, had they been followed....
Let the GOP know that it's between a Ron and a hard place.

The Key to Manuever
is POSITION
Indeed, however you cannot
Indeed, however you cannot have a thorough ultimatum unless you have an adequate plan B. While i swing toward the Ventura/Paul ticket. It is along way from being a remote possibility right now. What I think is important right now is to continue to follow threw going with the motions. Press all of these angles because you know we can not, will not fall in line behind McCanus. The old posture was write-in. The new posture is seeking alternatives. We should not be shy about seeking our plan B. Sooner or later the real plan B will reveal itself and when it does we need to B on it.

Instead of a GOP ultimatum,
Instead of a GOP ultimatum, which would never work with those arrogant neo-con bastards, we should go ahead and set up that Third Party ticket so it'll sail smoothly after September.
Who agrees?
SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States
Chuck Baldwin, CP nominee,
Chuck Baldwin, CP nominee, is a huge fan of Dr. Paul's and would probably move over to a V.P. spot if asked.
This is something we could broach with the candidate now by e-mails and phone calls.
SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States
Betrayal by the Leadership.
You may have a good idea. If so, consider this:
We need to go overboard in exposing the betrayal of the rank and file Republican Party by it's leadership. The Party was hijacked by the Neo-Cons, Trotskyite, disaffected Democrats who want to out spend the Democrats, wage continual war (who needs a Declaration), rule by executive order (dictatorship), bankrupt the nation, destroy national sovereignty, and destroy the Bill of Rights.
The real danger facing the American people today is not coming from the terrorists, it is coming from our own politicians. It is not the terrorists who are destroying our civil rights. It is primarily REPUBLICANS.
If we are going to secure our freedoms, if we are going to be free of terrorism, if we are going to have honest money, we need to either purge the Republican Party of its current leadership, or we have to move en mass into another party. We cannot allow this betrayal to continue.
time
for those full page newspaper ads across the country people were flirting with a few months ago. Telling the truth you mentioned above. But will we sound like sore losers?
OK, but...
We can't frame this as simply the GOP gone wrong. If we do, people will think the Dems are the solution -- because, of course, they have been trained by the media and the public schools. There's a false dichotomy in play here: Republicans and Democrats aren't opposites. They are PARTNERS.
But you're absolutely right about the threat that encroaching government presents.
ultimatum
I like it!. I dont comment much, but could'nt resist.Something has to wake them up.
