Tape Captures Philly Police Brutally Beating Suspects

"On the surface it certainly does not look good…”
Those words, spoken by Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey in response to a television station helicopter captured police officers beating several people on film during a traffic stop.
The beating, captured by WTXF-TV came two days after a Philadelphia officer was shot and killed in the line of duty trying to apprehend a robbery suspect.
About a dozen officers are shown kicking and punching the suspects—who have since been charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment, according to court officials.
One man was allegedly struck with a baton.
"At a glance it does appear to be a bit beyond the pale," said Doug Oliver, a spokesman for Mayor Michael Nutter. "Officers are not allowed to operate outside of the law."
While Oliver acknowledged the severity of the video, he also asked the public not to jump to any conclusions.
"We are not going to prejudge the situation based on the video," he said. "We all saw the video, but none of us was there."
Ramsey echoed Oliver’s sentiments, saying “we don’t want to rush to judgment.”
All of the officers involved in the incident have been taken off the street and assigned to office duties.

I cant believe this. These guys were drug out of thier vehicle and assaulted by the police! My God look at the beatings. Folks, if you dont think we are in a police state, your eyes are not open. I am sorry, but I deem every cop my enemy and have for a long time. Soon it will be us against them, only worse than it is now.They are power hungry thugs, dressed up like nazis. I am appalled by a lot of comments about this. Hundreds of comments from people agreeing with this type of treatment of suspects. (I am not referring to here on the D.P.) People actually making comments that the 3 men deserved this kind of treatment by the police. Many people mocked a mother of 1 of the men for being angry at her son's treatment, well as a parent, if my son was beaten when arrested I would be on the phone with an attorney starting a lawsuit of huge proportion. When people in a free country don't see this type of treatment as wrong, we are really screwed. Too much make believe reality t.v.(I am not too sure that 80-90% of the public actually realize this is real and not just some crap written in Hollywood. Too dumbed down to know the difference between t.v. fiction and reality) I guess that pretty much explains why liars and thieves dominate the political arena. Most people in this country don't know shi% about the constitution. They most certainly don't understand the concept of innocent until proven guilty. We don't need a court system anymore. The cops can just decide who is guilty and kick their asses or shoot them. I don't care what crime anyone is accused of; until you are proven guilty you still have rights. These 3 men may be guilty of hundreds of charges; but instead of going to jail they will likely become rich because of police brutality. I think handcuffing and reading them their rights would have served much better. Then they would have had a trial etc. Now they get to sue the city and then each officer individually and guilty or innocent they and some attorneys hit the jackpot.

This happens with almost every injustice, A lot of people think of all the reason they deserve it. Sean Bell left a bachelour party on his wedding day and was shot 50 times. How did he ask for this? People try to explain it as its some gang banger, who cares? People think its ok for certain things to happen to certain people.

I have seen this video once before and it wasn't very clear. Without dissecting the video completely for a total head count, I managed to count about 30 people involved not including the three "suspects". Some walked away as others came up. But the men were subdued and in control and that's where it should have ended. These thugs have no business on the payroll of any police department and each of them should be standing in the unemployment line or in lockup themselves.

Hospital treat you? I was
Hospital treat you? I was choking almost 3 weeks ago, I went to the ER and since I didnt pass out they left me for hours. I had a anxiety attack and passed out.When I awoke They told me I was fine and if I have problems breathing come back.
For the next few days I had problems swallowing and was dizzy. On the advice of a firefighter/emt I went to a different hospital and these people didnt even look at me. Just charged me $500 and told me to try mallox.. When I finely made it to my Dr. She did a work up and found a infection in my throught. Its still bothering me. I couldnt breath from the swelling. If I wasnt convinced something was wrong I would have suffocated.
In total my infection cost me $1250 for amoxicilian. Its ok cuz I will never pay.

do pay..$1.00-5.00 a month. By law they have to take it , and they cant report you as non paying...after 6 months to a year many just drop the bill. (this is true!!)

and speaking about lockheed, i worked for a structural engineer who worked on the new "improved" F-16 model that is available for sale around the world........she went to work drunk as a skunk many times, and came home that way too. she almost crashed her little honda into her garage that was being worked on. im not a bible thumper either but i do believe in a greater spiritual power, if you look at most of my posts, i dont usually refer to God,,,,but i use it because most people in our country at least do look at God as their spiritual master and can relate to what im saying,,,,besides that being is a benevolent one and not the cause of what man does to man....i understand where your coming from really i do and i wont argue with you about it,,you are so entitled to your feelings,,,i use to be nurse and dealt with drunken, and drug addicted doctors and nurses and yes, most did the sunday worship rituals,,,,maybe i should have said that we are blessed as a nation to have military people willing to leave their families and put their lives on the line to uphold our Constitution,,,and a large majority of them now realize the fallacy of the war, as is demonstrated by their large support of Ron Paul,,,,so truce? we re both here for Ron Paul and our Constitution arent we,,,?
