See the Live Broadcasts from 9/11 (archived from all the networks)

The ever excellent Internet Archive has acquired all the broadcasts from the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, BBC, FOX) from the tragic day of September 11, 2001. These broadcasts are only on loan to the Archive, and I don't know how long they'll be there. They may be there long-term, but maybe not, so you might want to toddle on over there soon if you're interested.

You can watch the shows just as the events unfolded on live television. I took in the first broadcast from ABC, with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America chatting with a veterinarian about cats, when, at about 20 minutes into the show, Sawyer suddenly informed viewers that the WTC had experienced "an explosion of some sort." An on-the-ground correspondent said he had heard what sounded like a missile, and then heard a loud explosion; the talking heads quickly guided the conversation to be about an "airplane"...

Personally, I don't take a strong stand either way re: the events of 9/11. I'm not a fully-convinced truther; nor am I one who waves off such considerations as "tinfoil hat" talk. The whole mess smells like yesterday's diapers, but I'm not deeply entrenched in either camp, so please don't take me to task here. I am merely posting this link for informational, educational and review purposes.

How Cute.

I see the adorable "flag as offensive" button has returned. And someone has used it on me; the dirty, rotten, rabble-rousing troll that you all know me to be!

Ahem.

To those who defended my informational post, you have my gratitude. To any who think I'm proposing a 9/11 agenda either way, you are mistaken; further, you did not read (or simply ignored) this portion of my post:

I'm not interested in and will not play into cheering on either "side" of the 9/11 issue; my limited energies are directed elsewhere. I posted the link so that those interested (either way!) could follow up on their own. Because, regardless of your stand on the issue, knowledge is power (or did your mother never let you watch "Schoolhouse Rock"?).

We now return you to your regularly scheduled debate.

Thanks fanofwalt I always

Thanks fanofwalt I always appreciate your posts even if I don't agree with you, which is rare

Thanks for your link, I will

Thanks for your link, I will look at it. I believe we need to take a stand however and hold accountable for what happened. So we, can get our civil liberites back and not allow another government, we'll ours for a start to get away with this...
the evidence is there, It is important to look deeply into what happened, because Bush got away with passing alot of laws which took away our civil liberties. http://www.youtube.com/wa... There are multiple schloars who have written academic journals on 9/11, that it is an inside job.
Alex Jones was interviewed on television by Showbiz tonight, who has a radio show on which Sheen leveled his allegations, talked bout how
bin Laden, a known CIA asset, was used as their patsy to take the blame for attacking the towers.. And the bottom line, there are declassified US government documents like “Operation Northwoods” that ABC News reported back in 2000. “Operation Northwoods.” Google it. And it there the US government – an element of it-said we want to hijack jets by remote control, crash them and blame it on the Soviet Union in Cuba. Now that was decades ago. This is why we believe this. Then you look at the “official story.” [Yet] the firefighters, the police, hundreds of them saying there were bombs in the buildings. They were told to shut up. You look at Building 7, detonators going off. You can see the explosions. Also George Bush Sr. top CIA advisor who briefed him and Ronald Regan – one of the highest level guys at the CIA [Ray McGovern] says our government is clearly involved with carrying out the terror to blame it on foreign enemies. Did you know that on www.CIA.gov they admit that the [CIA] carried out terror attacks in 1953 to blame it on Mohammed Mossadeq in Iran as a pretext to overthrow Iran? (At the time of this interview) Jones talked about a new White House memo where Bush is talking about staging the shoot down of American planes to blame it on Saddam. He said that that is public. That’s admitted. This aired on March 23, 2006 – 19:00:00 ET
As for Bush's use of 9/11 he controlled the media "main outlets" and put fear in them by not allowing journalists who asked tough questions to get access.
At least two major tools used to obtain information about government policy and decisions were gutted by the administration with barely a ripple of notice in the press: the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) and the 1978 Presidential Records Act. Congress had passed both laws after the Washington scandal, when it realized that unchecked presidential power could lead to abuse. Both have been used by journalists, academics and the public to monitor the government’s actions.
These are important tools for journalists and the American public.
Rather than report the -policy change- with stories describing the history of the act and its use to protect the public and prevent government abuses, a handful of newspapers ran short stories on inside pages. The broadcast media barely uttered a word about FOIA.
It was created amid concern that Nixon would never allow public access to his records. Without this access Congress fears, presidents could rule in secret. Still we have the CFR, rules in secret from the public view for the most part.
Under the Act presidential papers were to be available twelve years after the president left. The executive order that Bush signed on November 1, 2001, reinterprets the Act, giving the White House and former presidents the right to veto the release of any White House documents. That means Bush and Cheney’s papers prior to the September 11 attack through the war in Iraq are now protected.
The Patriots Act II was signed the day of Hussein’s capture which allows the government to call for expanding government access to private data, allowing federal agents to issue subpoenas for private medical, financial, and other records, without a court order. The lack of judicial oversight removes an important check on government misconduct. Record holders would be required to comply, or face prison, and would be barred from telling anyone about the subpoena. The day after the President signed the Intelligence Authorization Act. It expanded the powers of the FBI and reduced congressional oversight.
If it wasn't for the some of the 9/11 family members of the victims, there would of never been a 911 Commision Bush fought hard not to have one...I could go on.My point is we need to We know we have to take on the whole media establishment. It can only be done one interview at a time. One letter to the editor at a time, in 2007 we’re starting to be able to say one op-ed page piece at a time and when the opportunity arises, one complaint or legal action at a time. We must do this Watergate style so that the media will run with it. I will come back out here and give more links to websites.
No questions asked news coverage since 9/11, the book by Lisa Finnegan helped me write this piece along with an article written by Barrie Zwicker.
It's not easy to face but necessary.

You Make No Sense Mayberry

Are you flagging this thread because the original poster did not take a stand on either side of the "truther" argument?

OR

Are you flagging this thread because the original poster provided links to information about 9/11?

Either way, you make no sense.

Big deal if the original poster has not decided which side to stand; many others in the world have not.

AND

Big deal if the original poster has posted informational links about 9/11; many others in the world might be greatful.

Please provide a reason you flagged this post for deletion if you are serious about the matter. Otherwise your comment will simply show to others that you make no sense.

Flagged? HAH! UNFLAGGED!!!

Mods, consider this a thumbs up, thus negating our good friend Mayberry's flag request.

Hey Mayberry, if the version of what you claim reality was on 9/11/01 is so real, it ought to be able to withstand scrutiny, don't you think? And if that's the case, why wouldn't you want the facts to speak for themselves?

Unless the facts prove something otherwise, huh?

I'm not much for flagging this either

seems OK to me

I second the unflagging...

Why is there so much effort on this site to stop individuals from saying what they think? Everyone does NOT have to agree. If you don't like a thread don't read it and don't flag it just because you disagree.

Nothing to agree (or disagree) with

Thanks for the kind words, bonnieblue, but what seems to be misconstrued here is the concept that I have even proposed any assertion with which to agree or disagree. I haven't. It's purely information.
