Two More People Confirm - McCain did NOT vote for Bush in 2000
May 9 (Bloomberg) -- John McCain said he voted for George W. Bush twice for president, contradicting blogger Arianna Huffington's report this week that he told people at a dinner party that he didn't back Bush in 2000.
``I voted for President Bush, and I said so at the time,'' McCain said today at a press conference in Jersey City, New Jersey. ``This is hardly worth our time,'' McCain said.
McCain, an Arizona senator and the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, had a strained relationship with Bush when they were rivals for the 2000 Republican presidential nomination. The two have publicly repaired their relationship, and Bush has called McCain a ``true conservative,'' vowing to help him if he wins the nomination.
In a post on her Web page earlier this week, Huffington wrote that McCain said, ``I didn't vote for George Bush'' during a dinner party in Los Angeles not long after the 2000 election.
Cindy McCain, the senator's wife, added: ``I didn't either,'' Huffington wrote.
Two others who attended the party, actors Bradley Whitford and Richard Schiff, who both support Democrats in the presidential race, told The New York Times that McCain indicated at the dinner that he didn't vote for Bush.
