Changing the subject...how about your ideas on...
I would like to know what you people think of a peaceful expansion of our United States. Hear me out, please.
If we were to return to what our original intention was (a loose collection of independant states, with a limited government) what would your opinion of growing the country be?
By that I mean...making P.R. a state, or allowing Guam, British Columbia, hell, Trinidad and Tobago...whatever.
If we didn't have the welfare state, didn't redistribute wealth, it really wouldn't have any horrible economic impact.
We basically already provide for half the world's national defense, why not have more states? This would have to be predicated on popular acceptance into the union by the current states and of course the people's will in the future state...but honestly, what would the harm be?
My opinion is...why stop at 50 states? If we really got back to our constitutional form of government, we could actually grow our empire peacefully and democratically.
What's your opinion?

We are so far away from
We are so far away from establishing that perfect union that I can't even fathom growing any bigger. We need to get our house in order. This idea sounds like a global government type thing if we keep the status quo.
