How did you find out about...
How did you find out about Dr. Paul's campaign?
I was reading the thread about Dr. Mercola's newsletter endorsing Ron Paul's campaign today and I suddenly remembered...
This newsletter is where I first learned about Dr. Paul's run for the presidency!
I had been trying to remember exactly when and where I was when I learned about the man who should be the next president, and seeing that thread today reminded me that I first heard about Dr. Paul on Dr. Mercola's website.
What about you guys? Tell us your story.

ironically on tv
he caught my attention during an early republican debate because he fearlessly voiced opinions unlike every other puppet on stage. now i'm constantly checking his campaign site, youtube membership and other pro-paul sites.
I saw him first
on a white supremacist website. I will not name it here, no point giving ammunition to our enemies. I will hand it to the guy though, he was clever, he put Ron on his website one time for a day or two and all he said was 'look at this'. I don't necessarily agree with the views of white supremacy but some good hard news can be found on these sites if one looks. Sorry my tale isn't heartwarming but it is true.
'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'
It was such a set up
The roots of the DEMOCRATIC party have ties to the KKK. It was Republicans that fought for civil rights and equality. But now with the way Bush has tainted the party I can see why people think republicans are racist. They are so brainwashed, they can't see the lies in front of their face.
Martin Luther King, Jr was a Republican.
The purpose...
is to get to know each other better.
Instead of infighting about conspiracies and possible other candidates, I figured we could come together in our love for Dr. Paul by sharing how we learned about the message of FREEDOM. Everybody has a different story, and it will show us how diverse our group is.
not that i ever understand what the point is of these kinds of..
threads....
but my wife and i BOTH had just joined a 9/11 truth movement group in dallas, texas. we were ending the meeting - saying "thanks" to everyone for the information that we had received.....and then some guy stood up and told everyone (about 30 people) to look up ron paul.
that was it. i was 'done'.
do i wish that there were more than just two parties to choose from?
why....of course. yes.
but as much as i would vote for cynthia mckinney, whom i love and adore for much of her passion and attempts to hold people accountable for their INaction as much as their action.....
ron is the only person who is remotely close to winning.
the same machine that has a strangle hold on congress and ron and us - has got the two party system down pat. no one has a chance.
they know this.
we know this.
the only question remains....
how long are we 'sheeple' going to put up with this BULLSHIT?
google american blackout.
Actually, it was thru the MSM...
I caught the debates on TV, and saw how they treated this dude called Ron Paul, and thought, WTF??? THAT only made me more curious as to why "they" would treat someone who sounded so intelligent that way? The rest I learned from his website, and all you great human 'beans'.
about a year ago now, on
about a year ago now, on youtube when i was just watching general vidoes about 9/11 i think. watch a few of his speeches and fell in love.
have lost far to much sleep since.
I heard
I heard of him through a online friend on myspace and then I researched him at the beginning of the campaign 2008 but at the time I was more in favor of the funny and honest Mike Gravel. But in the Florida Primaries I voted for a democrat but that democrat was not Obama or Hillary! I should have changed my party and voted for Ron Paul but I've donated to Ron Pauls campaign. And I plan on buying his book.
GO RON PAUL!
It's hard for me to remember but it was
in the 1980's. I think Dr. Paul made a small stir about some issue and he was quoted on the radio. I think it was CBC. Anyway, that got me interested and I have followed his career ever since. Voted for him '88...twenty years ago!
You're one of the lucky ones...

Raised Republican (remember wearing Nixon buttons in 1960 & Goldwater fan in 1964)
As a child I was taken to John Birch Society meetings by my parents. Our family would have long discussions over the dinner table about UFO's, solar power, etc. and how there were conspiracies by large corporations and the federal government to cover up the truth about various things.
(1969-1984)
As a youth I went to Grinnell College noted (at the time) for its radical left-wing political atmosphere and still noted for "social activism".

Became a Democrat, long-haired hippie and canvassed for George McGovern in 1972.
After school became a lab technician and a union steward. Disgusted by the Nixon legacy, I can remember going to work and showing my co-workers graphs showing the price of gold climbing in the 1970's ("Look at how much poorer we just became!" I would say, waving the newspaper at their blank stares.)
Became disgusted with the Democrats and their unholy alliance with labor unions for a number of reasons. What sticks in my mind was the endorsement of Walter Mondale over John Glenn in the 1984 election. I was especially griped that they were stealing my union dues to sabotage my political freedom. And so I stopped working, borrowed massive amounts of money, went to medical school, and became a.....

Republican/ "whatever-3rd-party-candidate-I-can-find-to-vote-for-instead-of-these-Bozo's" Independent.
I might have "accidentally" voted for Ron Paul in 1988 as a "protest vote". I have NEVER been apathetic. "Apathy" is an emotional state of indifference or nonchalance. I have always been passionately frustrated at the lack of real choices in our "Republicrat" system. (I wonder how many other people are mislabeled as "apathetic" because they have given up casting meaningless votes for the "lesser of two evils"?) I have also felt virtually isolated in my political frustration until Ron Paul and the Internet gave "us" focus and a realization that we are not alone.
The fact that I was living in Iowa, where presidential candidates were as thick as locusts, and I had never even heard of Ron Paul until November 2007 shows just how lame his campaign was. (I know, I know he should have been covered better by the MSM; but it would not have mattered if Ron Paul had actually bothered to physically come to the state!)
By the way, did ANYONE here learn about Ron Paul by seeing him at a political rally or news coverage of a personal appearance?
My brother sent me an email with an article about Ron Paul and that was that.
The Internet is incredibly important. It has restored one of our basic rights -- freedom of the press -- which had been stolen from us.
Your comment about George McGovern resonates with me.
My friends and I ransacked the Nixon/Agnew headquarters just prior to the election in protest of what what we saw coming. We totally destroyed the place.
My father adored McGovern, not necessarily because of his politics but because he was honest. My entire family loathed Nixon et al.
My personal favorite pol when I was growing up was Lowell Weicker. He was a crazy tough mofo who didn't take shit from anyone. No one.
Back in the '80's The Nation and the Christian Science Monitor gave fair coverage to all the candidates.
Yeah...
It's scary to think how much the MSM has actually increased its stranglehold on the political system. The slogan of the Conspiracy is:
"There must be NO options."
Facebook
I found out through facebook. All my friends kept inviting me to Ron Paul groups and I asked my friend. He showed me some videos, then I did my own research.
If you would have asked me 4 years ago if I would have been supporting a Republican from Texas, I would have told you to get lost. :)
It is so refreshing to have a candidate that actually follows a strict interpretation of the constitution and stands for conservative fiscal policies and progressive values (Which arent even progressive at all, we were entitled to them in 1776, its just a matter of getting back what we already were guaranteed)
As someone whos always voted straight democratic my entire voting career (i.e. The "W" years) I would have voted for Mickey Mouse instead of Bush. Come November, Ron Paul will be the first republican I've ever voted for, even if I have to write him in.

February 2007, somewhere online
The best discovery of my life....
-Dr. Charles Good Kid-
Saw SIGN WAVING in Nov 2007.
First, I saw sign waving in Nov 2007. Around the same time (perhaps on the same day), I saw a group of cars and pick up trucks with big Ron Paul signs. A few weeks later, I saw a pick up truck with a huge Ron Paul sign and that really did it for me. (People can always do things in a large group, but to do something alone must mean something was my take.)
Since I followed gold market since 1999, I've heard about Ron Paul many times before, often from Jim Puplava's Financial Sense Newshour, but since I don't watch TV and I don't follow politics at all, I didn't know Ron Paul was running.
The first two times when I saw the sign waving and the group of cars and pick up trucks, I was happy, but I was still quite apathetic. But, when I saw one pick up truck by itself with a huge sign, it really did it for me.
Then, I began to research Ron Paul and I saw several YouTube videos and so on.
This is the reason why I still think sign waving and a huge sign on a car are not waste of time.
"first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks...will deprive the people of all property" -Thomas Jefferson
Can't beat that...
Sign-waving does work!
cnn.com
I read a story about a year ago how Dr. Paul was raising money well enough to compete with the big boys, and it sparked my interest.
Yes...cnn.com directed me to the rEVOLution with a single story...but they haven't since repeated that mistake by talking about Dr. Paul.
At least someone...
has heard about Dr. Paul from the msm.
I had been in a car accident.
Had a broken neck and was forced to be in a neck brace for 5 months. I was stuck around the house on a computer reading for 3 months of it. Passed by Alex Jones website. I was researching 9/11 info and learning about the CFR, NAU and such. Low and behold he was talking about Ron Paul. RP had all the answers I was looking for. Here I am today and I was going to vote green party as a protest vote because of how fed up with the Republican Party I had become.

We can all say what needs to be done, but who here led by example today?
Remember, remember the 5th of November
I first saw his signs around the city of phx in Summer 2007. The signs didn't say anything about him running for president, just "google Dr. Ron Paul", so I thought it was some crazy business. In October, I began to see his signs w/this November 5th & I couldn't get that out of my head because of V for Vendetta. I then looked him up on the internet & on youtube and loved what I heard, donated money on Nov 5th & again on Dec 16th. Since discovering him, I have spread the R3VOLUTION message to friends and family. My friends and I have started a new tshirt company to help the R3VOLUTION & Ron Paul. We're not up just yet, still forming the company but you may check us out at www.sovereignfuture.com I will post a message on the dailypaul when we're official. A portion of our proceeds will go to Dr. Ron Paul or to other Ron Paul candidates across the country. Regardless of Ron Paul winning the Republican nomination...
The R3VOLUTION has just begun...

Fortune Favors the Bold
I first heard about ron paul in 1999, actually from a news article, talking about conservatives being critiical of Clinton's actions in Yugoslavia. Didn't think much about it then. I was aware he was an anti-war conservative candidate for a long time, but I was pretty against voting or any politics of any sort, being a hardcore anarchist. I do remember catching the foxnews poll where hannity couldn't believe ron paul had won the text vote. Thought it was kind of funny, but didn't pay much attention.
After the december 16 moneybomb, I decided to do a little research about him. After about three days of reading about him, and intense thought on the matter, i decided I would make the Ron Paul revolution my top priority. I remember the first video I saw was the Angels amd Airwaves Secret Crowds one. i think that helped me realize how this campaign had really awakened a spirit of something I had hoped for since I was young, but had become convinced was not possible.

I worked for a small company for 3 weeks (it didnt work out) early last fall. The guy I was hired to replace was leaving...moving out of the US!!...I asked him why...and we talked about the decline of western civilization...then he mentioned Ron Paul. At that time, I hadn't even seen a yard sign! He suggested I look at YouTube to learn more...and boy did I!!! I'm nearly 50 y/o, and had never even registered to vote before!! I was totally apathetic about politics..I always thought, "..gee, I can vote for this lawyer or that lawyer...and how do I win in this again?..." Ross Perot got me all excited about politics, and I was all ready to go register, but then we all know what happened. I moved to NC a year ago, and just voted in my first primary ever!! Of course, my vote didn't mean much as we got only 8%. I am happy that of the 100 counties in NC, 73 use paper ballots.
I never voted...
until my wife shamed me into voting... for Bush... TWICE.
ick
So, in my 41 years, the only presidential candidate I've voted for is the facsist Nazi sympathizer and the worst president in U.S. history.
Needless to say, that turned me off to the whole idea of voting... again.
I was always turned off by politicians. I'm a pretty good judge of character, and all politicians seemed like lying panderers to me. (And they are.)
When I saw Dr. Paul speak for the first time, he cured my apathy like he has so many others.
Who knew?
I generally ignore politics and the news, but was having a conversation in a traditional hotrod chatroom with a friend about the sad state of America. That I was anti-corporate, didn't like the war, didn't like any of the 3 candidates. He asked me if I had heard of Ron Paul, and I had seen some signs locally, but hadn't heard his message. This was right before his new book came out, which I bought early and read right away.
I wish I had heard sooner and could have got involved sooner and made more of a difference for my states primary.
I have since told several people about Dr Paul, and his message of freedom definitely takes root and begins to grow.
A local meet-up wanted to run an ad in
my magazine, back in October/November and I thought, 'I don't want to lean publicly one way or another..'
Well, I checked RP out, fell in love, and ran several ads in my magazine for a very, very ;/ good rate.

That's a great story...
I think it's funny. So far we're all hearing about Dr. Paul through another supporter.
Not from the msm, of course.
I guess maybe some people learned about him in the debates, but I think most people discovered Dr. Paul through word-of-mouth.
im in the bodybuilding scene
im in the bodybuilding scene and someone mentioned him a long time ago...from then on i was hooked on liberty!!!
he has alot of support from that community..
You tube is where I found out about Ron Paul
It was a clip about a girl in Florida getting in trouble with the police for having to many Ron Paul signs on her car.
I had to find out why anyone would be that fanatical about any candidate running for president. I was floored when I watched a You Tube clip of Ron Paul speaking, then I was pissed I had not heard about him prior to this from the media.
Trying to Remember...
It seems that my first exposure to Ron Paul was the YouTube video where he was interviewed in the college dorm room way back last spring. I know it was one of the many videos on Ron Paul. But the fact that he was willing to have an interview with an unknown college kid, and that the interview was, in fact, excellent that led me to take a serious interest in him. He had a charming humility combined with incredible intelligence and insight that floored me in this day of sound bites, glamor, and empty rhetoric. I disagreed with his position on the Iraq War then (still believing that it was a good thing), but eventually he won me over.
His book, "The Revolution: A Manifesto", has cemented my opinions of him as the greatest statesman in our nation in a long, long time. I pray that we do not miss this opportunity to turn around our nation and shine the light of freedom once again in the world.
The signs were the first thing I saw
"Google Ron Paul"
One day my husband came home and said "We probably voted for him in 1988." (We have habitually "thrown away our vote" on the LIbertarian candidate.) So I finally googled him. I donated $50 that day, the first time I have EVER done anything for a politician. Now I am in the very unlibertarian position of having donated too much on my charge cards! lol! Oh wait, that is not funny... Oh well, lol anyway! It is just 1's and 0's in the end!
The world is awash...
in digital money. Don't worry. It doesn't really exists... only in the Fed's mind!
If there is a good reason for using a credit card, it's to give to Dr. Paul's campaign!
