China's Earthquake and our response. . .
if I had either money or time, I would gather forces to DO something for the people of China. We may owe them money but this is a horrible tragedy and what a thing if the People of America responded to the victoms of China. Screw waiting on Bush. They say it's like 12 thousand people now, and so many of them children. At least we can send them our prayers. what do ya'll think?

I realize most people here have stockpiling for years, but...
This latest tragedy really made me realize how important it is to maintain an emergency food and equipment supply. It has always been on the back of mind, but something I never quite took action on until this news story. I don't know what I would do if the roads, communication networks, electricity, and running water were all suddenly wiped out within minutes. Very scary.
there ya go! good for you!

News from China
I also feel very sad and reflective on the recent US storms too. One death is too much.
'I always think of all you canvassors and precinct leaders and delegates at the front line and caucuses.
Good luck out there &Thank you. You're a gift.
What can the US really
What can the US really offer?
Does China need people/workers to help with the rescue or cleanup? China has plenty of people who can help: 1.4 billion population
Should we send them some money? If you think we should, how much of the 2 billion or so that we borrow from China daily should be sent back to them? In short, the U.S. is insolvent. We are bankrupt because we have less than zero: between 9 and 10 trillion in the negative. We simply have no money to send.
Should we send them military? What good would that do when China has plenty of soldiers in their own military? Plus, we would have to spend some of that money China lends us in order to do it anyhow.
Maybe the best way we could help China would be to stop borrowing so much money from them...(?)
Whatever you do...
Don't give money the Rockefeller controlled American Red Double-Cross.

Interesting media
It is interesting that there are lots of reporters allowed in China and tons of media coverage to show the tragedy to the world, yet there was virtually no media coverage allowed when they brutally crushed the Tibetan's protesting.
What do we do?
"It's our own job to change that and I think it's a fool's errand to rely on the government to change things."

Everyone may help if they want to...
But I believe that the constitution does not give the Federal Government the authority to send money or aid in such a situation.
Besides, China has way more money than we do.
But, this is only my opinion.
Don't Wait for the Government
We should help those in need, but it is foolish to look to our government to do so. While our government was trying to pressure Myanmar to let our troops in, organizations like World Vision and Samaritan's Purse were already helping the victims because they had local personnel already working in the area. Personally, I understand why governments would be nervous about us sending troops into their country to "help". From their perspective, would you trust our military after recent world events? And remember the past examples: when our troops come in, they don't leave.
No, we need to stop relying upon the government and return to our roots when the United States was the most generous country in the world because of individual donations not government aid checks. We need to take responsibility back from the government and take on the task of helping our fellow man personally. It is our responsibility as well as our joy to be given such an incredible opportunity. Don't pass it up.
How to help
Go buy some stuff at walmart if you want to donate money to China to help the victims.
Either way, the aid isn't going to get to those people any more than it is getting to those in Myannmar. Might as well get yourself something in return for the money you "donate", since it will likely be abused.
Buying stuff in Walmart
Buying stuff in Walmart won't help the pandas. Donate to the world wildlife fund.

So Sad.
I watched the video of them pulling a small child out of the rubble. He looked like he was in so much pain. The parents looked like they were really suffering too. What a horrible tragedy.
I was thinking the same thing. I wish there was some way to help. I can't imagine being trapped and in pain under all that rubble. It's horrific.
Don't worry about China
They are a collectivist utopia with 1.2 billion people. I'm sure that socialist machine is already spinning with activity to save lives and rebuild all that was destroyed to greater glory for the people.
Please don't advocate that Bush send them money...that's my money and it should be my choice to be charitable.
I did not say anything about advocating Bush
to do anything. You can rebuild buildings, but i'm just saying that it is sad to see mothers and fathers lose children. It's just like us, do we want the world looking at us as the People of America as to how our "government" is directing our policys? So too, the People of China are just working stiffs just like us. We should at least have some compassion.
Ok
Just sounded like you were campaigning for foreign disaster aid.
Absolutely nothing wrong with compassion...I feel horrible for those people and wish them the best. It's only right to feel a personal sense of obligation to help, and sending money would be the best way.
I really doubt there will be much of a call for help from China, generally they're too proud to ask for help.
I've heard its at 18000
What bothers me much more than the tragedy of the quakes though, are two very disturbing results. Foremost, hearing our government and media bitch about how the Chinese government isn't allowing us to help and that they aren't doing enough for their people, yet i see reports on the BBC that show China's leaders responded immediately and were even at the disaster zones themselves within hours of the quake, assessing damage and helping the most severely hit areas. Obviously they're not getting to everyone, but where do we get off calling their governments response bad after our own disastrous results from two separate events. What right does our government have to talk?
But even worse, even more sickening, is the thought that communist china is doing more to recover its citizens from disaster than our own does! Bush didn't make it to NYC until the day after (if i remember correctly), and didn't do anything to advance the recovery effort, he just made campaign speeches. And how long has it been since Katrina and New Orleans is still struggling to recover? it makes me sick. we're supposed to be the best country in the world, and I take pride in how much Americans are willing to sacrifice for each other, but our government never does anything for us, and still talks big, its disgusting.
I dunno, maybe im just tired.. but that just irked me all the wrong ways..
~I will never again accept the lesser of two evils.~
You are right about...
the US supposedly being the best country in the world. The answer to that is, WE ARE THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD; we just have a rotten govt. in it!
Our response to this horrendous disaster is to individually find an organization that we can donate to on our own. I'm the "Decider" on that one, Bush!
i second that thought.. the
i second that thought.. the government and country are different.. the country is good and the government SUCKS HIND TIT!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
I think China has more than enough to take care
of their own. What do they do for us? Poison us???? If you want to pray for them that's your choice. I say maybe God is punishing their evil ways.
"Do Not Judge"
Jesus said not to judge or the same measure would be used against you. We of all people should understand that the government does not necessarily represent the people, and especially not in China. Just because their government is corrupt and evil does not mean that the Chinese people are. I have personally met many Chinese people and found that they are friendly and kind people who like to laugh and have fun. I have nothing but sympathy and concern for those who have been hurt by this event. This is an incredible opportunity to reach out and help people in need, and it may just open doors in ways that nothing else could.
Besides, when it comes to nations deserving judgment for their evil ways, we had better hope that God is a God of mercy. Our nation has promoted and supported countless dictators who have collectively killed millions of people. We have waged unjust wars that have resulted in the deaths of millions more. We have killed over one million unborn babies every year since the early seventies (an entire generation). Our country has declined morally as well, and we have lived for decades on borrowed time by taxing the rest of the world with our inflated currency.
To make it worse, unlike China we the people actually had the power to do something and didn't. With our system of government, we had more power to actually see that justice and law were upheld in our land, but we were too busy watching football or movies to take the time to educate ourselves. We allowed socialism to creep into our system because we were happy with specific perks without weighing the true cost. We increased our personal debts so that we could improve our lifestyles while billions of people go without adequate food and water around world (did you know that for $20 billion we could feed and provide fresh water to everyone in the world -- that is how much we Americans spent on ice cream last year).
Don't be wishing judgment on other nations. We deserve judgment just as much if not far more than China. We need to repent (turn away) from our evil ways and return to mercy, kindness, and justice. The Ron Paul Revolution is about more than just changing our government -- it is about reforming our hearts to the values and morals on which our country was founded: the belief that all men are created equal and have the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We deserve justice. Let us pray that God is merciful to us.
I refuse to feel a bit of sympathy for
people who send us nothing but poison. These people don't care for us. Tragedy happens. That's life. Chinese aren't immune. Boofreakinhoo!!
You sound like a bleeding heart liberal. Gaagg...
You Don't Get It
You simply do not get it do you? You are holding the entire Chinese population responsible for the acts of their government. Could not they then turn around and do the same? The key difference is that the Chinese people do not have any say in their government. We (theoretically) do, or at least a lot more than they do, and look what our country has done.
Seriously, do you think that the economic collapse that is at our doorstep formed in a vacuum? Have you not been reading and paying attention to all that has been discussed on this forum? We the American people have lived well beyond our means for decades and it is time to pay the piper.
I guess I can say "Boofreakinhoo" to you when you are lying in the gutter starving to death because there is no food because our economy has collapsed; or if there is an earthquake and you are trapped in your home beneath a ton of rubble with no one to help you; or if you are hauled away to a concentration camp under martial law.
If you lack compassion for others, do not be surprised if there is no one who has compassion on you. But don't worry. I will still have compassion for you even if you don't deserve it.
If you truly want to change our nation, you should take a serious look at your heart first. Only with a compassionate people dedicated to protecting the rights of others and upholding truth and justice can we hope to make our nation great again.
I LOVE your rant.
and everything you are saying here. I'm glad to see some of the things that have surfaced in this thread. There ARE good people still out there. : )
Since I don't have excess money, I'll have to give the Chinese people my heartfelt compassion.
