delegate question

I received an invite to a fundraiser for a candidate in the state that is by no means a Ron Paul republican. I was trying to decide if I should attend. It's $500 per person minimum.

I was thinking that by attending, I might increase my chance at being selected as a delegate, since many of the people that will be at the event are going to be the same as those that are ultimately voting for our state's delegates.

Also, the party sent out an email to those considering becoming delegates stating that the cost would likely be $2000-$2500 each, so I'm wondering what other Paul delegates have done to help recoup some of their costs.

So my questions are

1. Does anyone think it would be worthwhile to attend this fundraiser, so that I might gain name recognition and improve my chances of being selected as a delegate?

2. How are people handling the expense of actually being a delegate to the convention? Are you seeking donations or paying from your own pockets?

Politicking

Put the horse in front where it belongs. If you can't swing the cost of being a national delegate, why spill $500 for a fundraising event? If you determine that you can in fact find the funding and commit to the delegate process, by all means politick away. Remember, there will be RP supporters attending the convention regardless of their delegate status and I have heard that there will be ample opportunities to reduce costs by pooling resources of all kinds, such as transportation, camping, meals, partying, etc. It could be a great adventure.

yes do attend undercover

If you are having trouble coming up with the expence go to your local meet up group we are going to raise funds in our precincts so that our delegates can go.By all means try to be a delegate and worry about the expence later.

I agree with riverrun, but

I agree with riverrun, but as far as recouping your expenses, I would say if you can't afford it then you should not go. I do know we have 2-3 people in our local meetup that are individually being sponsored as delegates to Nationals if they are elected but that is due to personal friendships. Do you have friends or family that will help? One of the things we realized as a meetup group was that there are a lot of good people that want to go that CAN afford it, so we are making that part of our state selection criteria. I am one of those people that cannot afford to go but I am in agreement with this criteria. Just my .02

I would not give a dime to

I would not give a dime to the republicans until they start acting like the conservative party they are suppose to be. Also, why would you give money to a party that has been disrespectful to Ron Paul and to his supporters?

I intend on giving my money only to those candidates who support Ron Paul's ideas.

yes

YES, as long as you stay undercover and work the crowd. Since you are still incognito, this is a great strategy. Make the contacts, get your name out, and talk about how you are helping the local GOP in your county (proves you are a long-haul supporter).

2. How are people handling the expense of actually being a delegate to the convention?

We looked at our family finances, and we found that stopping eating out will allow us to save most of the money. And the food we cook is more healthy than the salted and fried food at many restaurants.
