Fox: Ron Paul revolt could be 'disaster' for Republicans
Rep. Ron Paul is still in the GOP race and even drew 16% of the vote in the recent Pennsylvania Republican primary. Now his supporters are planning to stage a "revolt" at the Republican National Convention in September, possibly with the aim of securing Paul a prime time speaking slot.
Conservative radio talk show host Mike Gallagher told the hosts of Fox and Friends on Tuesday, "There is no question that this could be a major headache for John McCain."
"John McCain would be well-served to kind of reach out and give him an olive branch at the convention," Gallagher continued. "Let him speak, give him a role, because if these people are disrespected -- you know, this, combined with Bob Barr's announcement that Barr now is running as a Libertarian, is going to just take votes away from John McCain and could be a disaster for the Republican Party."
Bob Barr recently cited Paul's success as having helped inspire his own candidacy, pointing to "what Ron Paul has tapped into in terms of reaching an awful lot of young people in particular and illustrating very clearly that in this day and age it is possible to reach a lot of young people through the Internet."

divde the vote
Barr is running to give Obama the presidency. Why is he even getting any news coverage? The first libertarian candidate to get on the news?
Teddy Roosevelt was recruited to divide the GOP vote in 1912 against Taft, and Woodrow Wilson became president and one year later we had a central bank, and a income tax.
Ross Perot made Clinton President.
ZBig has Obama in the CFR pocket, so Barr is out there to do the same, and will divide the GOP vote.
Not only
Did you see Jay Rockefeller standing with Obama and had his arm around him with a big smile during WV primary -
They seem to think
They seem to think that by McCain giving us some cordial treatment and throwing us a rhetorical bone, we'll fall in line.
Never again
As far as Barr goes...i'm glad he's switched his views, but he strikes me as an opporitunist.
I'd rather vote for a man who's had our problems diagnosed for 30+ years, and has been proposing solutions since that time that in hindsight, would have fixed our problems before it got to this point. i'm voting for Ron Paul, even if I have to write his name myself. I don't care who wins beyond that.
Let's see...
A tour on the old BS meter...
INPUT Bob Barr recently cited Paul's success as having helped inspire his own candidacy, pointing to "what Ron Paul has tapped into in terms of reaching an awful lot of young people in particular and illustrating very clearly that in this day and age it is possible to reach a lot of young people through the Internet."
OUTPUT Hey, if that Ron guy can make that much buzz and cash just by telling kids on the net about that constitution thingey, I bet I could make bank and some REAL name recognition by saying the same stuff! I know they'll forget all the positions I used to hold on things... internet geeks have no attention span anyways.
Opportunist...lol
perhaps
Fortune Favors the Bold
Since it seems like the media is treating Barr quite more favorably then Paul, (and I have seen democrats discussing sending him money), I am very interested to understand what his true motivations are, as it seems apparent he will be reported on come september and october (assuming he wins the LP nomination)
You hit the nail
on the head. Peace
They're missing the point...
It's not Ron Paul.. it is thier own actions and thier ~appointed~ candidate that are killing them. November will gut the GOP... the writing is on the wall.
Which I think is perfect... let's keep educating and getting involved at the local level.
Then by 2012 we'll own the GOP.
Keep in mind, the Dems are gonna be screwed the next 4 years. Everything bad that is coming down will be thier fault in the public's eyes, no matter how far back it started. They'll be feeding off themselves in a few years.
The next cycle will be the r3VOLution's on a silver platter if we just keep on keepin on... ;)
The Elephant = The Donkey
By dividing us they have conquered us. You need to see beyond black and white...
It's about retaking and reforming the GOP
This is old. But, it makes clear that the battle for the GOP was the Ron Paul 2008 battle plan, is the battle plan, will be the battle plan.

"What you are now, as a movement, is a new force within the Republican Party. And you have the opportunity to continue to bring people into the message of liberty and to the message of restoring the Republic. And you have the opportunity of moving that influence all through the Republican Party, if you've been involved in the delegate process. . . . We want you to move forward with this."

Ron Paul 2008
Our CP and LP factions are wanting to be called r3volutionaries without being revolutionary. Those of us who stick to the game plan are the future. Just decide. That's all anyone is asking you to do, but if you decide to go, you go alone. Stop riding Ron Paul's shirttails.
that said
Fortune Favors the Bold
Ron Paul is not a fortune teller. We have to adapt to the conditions on the ground. If the GOP completely shuts us out (which they haven't quite done... yet) then we may need a new strategy.
Let's reform the Mafia, too.
Let's reform the Mafia, too.
I say that if enough of us become mob torpedoes, by stealth, we can turn the Cosa Nostra upside down, and take it back to its original roots of being a law-abiding organization that supports patriotic upstanding American values.

I'm totally appalled
at the lack of understanding on this site. To think that it matters to the puppeteers whether or not McCain wins defies all logic or evidence produced thus far. The jerks who have absolutely subverted this election could care less about who wins it at this point. As long as it was Clinton,Obama or McCain they won. Bob whathisname is nothing but a side show attempt to reduce the amount of write in ballots for Dr. Paul thus trying to demoralize and further trivialize the gains we have already made. This war is just beginning and my sincerest wish is that it can be done fairly with ballots and not bullets. Unfortunately, in my life, no wish has ever come true.
Hear, hear
That's exactly right.
Think a little harder...
McCain is a sacrificial lamb... the GOP didn't WANT to win this cycle. So they picked the worst possible candidate to push.... and they got him.
Yes, on a larger scale, it doesn't matter who wins.. it is 3 faces of the same evil.
However, the GOP's actions are easily understood.. they need Obama in.
Someone needs to take the fall for the next 4...lol.
Yep I agree,
They want a Democrat, any Democrat, because Bush 'knows' already that when a Democrat comes in, there will be another 9/11.
He can then blame the attack on the Dems whilst the NWO can continue with their plans of more war, martial law and world government and execute the plans they apparently are behind schedule with.
Political Survivor
It's just like the show Survivor. When it comes down to the last 3 people the strongest always picks the weaker of the remaining 2 to head to the finals with. Survivor did give us all that insight into human instinct so it's natural they want McCain in there to get decimated.
Now it's about who they can control more. Though in that regard I would think they could control McCain much easier so I'm still a bit baffled by them putting McCain up against Obama. Obama is going to decimate McCain. I don't think the Neo-Cons will control Obama as successfully so I am a bit confused about that.
why so confused?
they all take their marching orders from the cfr...
I'm not liking
this defeatest thing I am hearing and seeing everywhere. Just today on Limbaugh, Jason Lewis said clearly that McCain does NOT have the nomination yet no matter what we are being told.
Come on, I know it looks impossible, but let's get those books into the hands of all delegates. Has that happened? Do we have a list of delegate addresses? Maybe we should write them. Or take them out to dinner and talk to them in groups.
Think About It
if Ron Paul is not on the ballot this year....
who among the one million plus voters for RP
will vote for either Republicrat ?
(a very very low percent I would guess)
meaning - a slam dunk for the one party formerly known as
Democrat....
(I would guesstimate most RP voters were from the other camp -
plus Indies and Libertarians)
yuck! I am going to be sick....
need to watch RP 52 minute talk on CSpann Book show -
Link please?
Link, link, link please :-)
McCain can't win anyway
because there are a lot more
Dems than there are Republicans.
And the way the GOP is treating Ron Paul republicans...
...how'd you like to bet that after the RNC in Sept there's about 1 million fewer Republicans?
I guess the GOP likes alienating people.
I've been thinking the same
I've been thinking the same exact thing for a while now. The GOP leadership are destroying our party and they will only be able to blame themselves.
just proves that they don't care...
we all know this...we all know this ahead of time but there is virtually nothing we can do...right?
or, is there? perfect storm is brewing!
keep working!
If only...
there were the Bull Moose Party and Dr.Paul was running on that ticket, we'd all be stampeding to join! I know I would. I'd find me the cutest set of antlers and wear them in my cap!
Bob needs to back up. Hes
Bob needs to back up. Hes giving Mary Rupart problem too.
I maintain that it is not the Ron Paul Revolt that
represents a disaster for the GOP. The failure of that so-called revolt will allow a disaster to proceed and the name will not be Dr. Ron Paul; it will be John McCain. The posted statement, from Mr. Gallagher, is predicated on the theory that taking votes away from John McCain could, somehow, constitute or cause a GOP disaster. I consider John McCain to be a living embodiment of a leadership disaster. Taking votes away from him lessens the possibility of that disaster. Therefore, taking votes away from McCain is the most important thing that anyone can do at this point in order to avoid the disaster that I call: John McCain. I do not address the other disaster building on the democratic side of the equation.
Mr. Gallagher speaks of a republican party disaster. As with others on this site, I'm far more concerned about a U.S. disaster. If Dr. Paul decided that he was going to be a candidate of the Bull Moose Party, then I would be registering as a Bull Moose in order to vote for him in the Bull Moose primary. Party labels, without more, have little to do with what's going on inside a given candidate. Recall that, in 1948, there were two democrats who decided to run for president, outside the confines of the democratic party, because they could not politically digest the idea of supporting Harry Truman. One democrat (Strom Thurmond) was strongly in favor of segregation while the other democrat (Wallace) insisted on an end to segregation. Therefore, the party label can have limited meaning.
On the positive side, I want to participate in taking votes from McCain, and sending them to Dr. Paul, based entirely on my own judgement that Dr. Paul represents a far better course for the country to follow and the best chance of empowering a man whose understanding, of the underlying economic problems we face today and tomorrow, is vastly superior to any of the other three so-called "major" candidates.
On top of that, add one final principle: He wants the government to follow the U.S. Constitution and abide by their oaths.
Best regards.
We gotta get him in
Where are those veterans against McCain. They are not loud enough.
Wrong diagnosis
There is definitely a 'disaster' awaiting the GOP but it's not Ron Paul. How many people held their nose and became Republicans to support Ron Paul? We're not the problem----witness the Devastating Congressional Losses that are just p0wning the GOP. The real problem is that they just can't connect the dots. McCain still is spouting that he's the salvation of the GOP!!!! WTF??? How McBombIranfor1000yearsBushIII can be the solution................They're just enjoying the KoolAid too much.
Ron Paul Predicts it
This is incredible. Go back to the South Carolina debates. Dr. Paul predicts the defeat of Republicans in 08 unless we change course. Now the media is begining to agree. Good things are happening.
http://www.youtube.com/wa...
Go to about 5:30 of the debate. Or just enjoy the whole thing like I did.
RP08
Follow the money and there
Follow the money and there you have your predictor. All of the big money went to Obama.
Khan's Brother
is an unbound delegate who snuck in singing the praises of John McCain. All the wile keeping it truthful and crafting his words so that when he does vote for Doctor Paul he would have never told a lie.
He is the biggest 2nd amendment supporter I know. A fine man who would never use a gun unless he was defending himself. A churchgoer and a great father. He reminds me of Ron Paul himself.
Things will be getting interesting in September.
"Walls are stronger than the men that defend them."

I was just curious. Did you convert to your religion after your military service, or before? Not important, i was just wondering.
Khan's Brother
is a true patriot and deserves our thanks.
Frankly, the Neocon GOP
Frankly, the Neocon GOP fully deserves a disaster (Ron Paul excepted, of course), and I will deeply disappointed if they do not receive one in November. I just hope it is a crushing defeat if McCain gets the nomination, to finally beat into their pea brains what sellouts, statists and traitors they truly are.
OK, all together now:
OK, all together now: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".
July is coming quickly to Oregon...
for the delegate selection. I hope I get picked to contribute to "the disaster." Or "Operation Chaos," to quote a self proclaimed conservative windbag.
Ron Paul revolt
Ron Paul revolt could be a "disaster"? Let's hope it IS a disaster! The GOP are neo-con war mongers and are trying to downsize the BEST candidate running who is RON PAUL! Give 'em hell!! Don't know how you are going to do it...but I am watching :>))
Watchman 2008
This is the part I hope the
This is the part I hope the Republican party is starting to understand very clearly.
"Let him speak, give him a role, because if these people are disrespected -- you know, this, combined with Bob Barr's announcement that Barr now is running as a Libertarian, is going to just take votes away from John McCain and could be a disaster for the Republican Party."
If they continue their antics they have been pulling at the state convention s and continue to discredit and disrespect us, this group WILL cause them a VERY hard time.
Bob Who?????
If not us than who?
Bob Barr
thinks he can ride on Ron's coattails. He's wrong. Ron has done the hard work and put in the time. Barr makes the assumption that it was Ron's campaign that created the internet revolution that we became. We are the revolution. We created the money bombs, songs, videos, emails, blogs, etc. He doesn't get it.
Ron Paul 2008
Ron Paul just stated in absolute terms
that he will not run in the general election. It was during the NPR interview. When asked, his response was "No." He did not weasel around it. He said "No" he will not be running in the general election.
Therefore, unless he changes his mind, some people will want to vote for a worthy candidate who agrees with Ron Paul. I do not know if Bob Barr is that man. I think he has a checkered past, but so do many people.
Ron said that because...
...he is simply trying to be honest; he does not expect to gain the nomination. Our job is to prove him wrong or at least come close to it.
Yours very truly,
Schvenzlerman!
He sure did, and I do not
He sure did, and I do not know why he did, when in the beginning of the talk he said he was still campaigning. WHY o WHY did he say that? I have no clue...anyone?
Because he's not delusional.
Because he's not delusional. His position is to help change the party now. He cannot win and he is a realist. He also wants to be able to give a speech at the convention and sway the positions of the GOP. In fact, I believe that he will be allowed to speak, but he will be 'razzed' by the GOP base. It will further galvanize the RP supporters, and cement a real divide between "us" and "them".
Then this is the second time
The first time I heard him say he will NOT run third party about a week ago. Said it is too complicated and too late. Now this. I hate to bring this up, but there was the whole thing about the Trilateral persuasion.
