Did I just see Pat Buchanan giving the hand signal?
I was watching this video on Lew Rockwell and right at 4:12 into the video, as he was asking Joe Liebermen whether or not he thinks we should send airstrikes against Iran.?

Hard To Comment
Without link.
Khan has been watching them for awhile. Once in a blue moon may not mean anything, but Patrick Buchanan is suspect to me regardless. If they are not like my neighbor, I suspect them.
I'd like to see a guy like Rhino lead the religious right instead of Pat.

Definitely suspect
or at least walking a tightrope so that he can still be accepted by the monied power house.
Distraction
I personally think that this whole hand signal nonsense is a distraction. I know that I use that motion from time to time in my own conversation when I am trying to explain a complicated detail or speak very precisely. To me as I am talking, it conjures up the image of fine detail working on models or crafts when your hand needs to be extra steady.
I am certainly not Illuminati or Free Mason or any such thing. In other words, I don't think this hand signal is a tell-tale sign that someone is. Sure, they may use this signal or teach people to use it, but just because someone does does not mean that they are "evil". It is simply a mannerism. Focus more on what their actions say and what they cause to happen than how they speak or even the words that come out of their mouths.
BTW, you forgot to include a video link in your post.
conjures and craft are terms
used in witchcraft/sorcery.
Oh Give Me a Break!
There are true evils in this world that we should concern ourselves about, but this hand signal... come on. Ok, fine, it brings to mind the image of precision because this is how I position my hand when doing precision work. Sure, this may mean that the hand gesture will convey the same feeling to people in the audience, but that does not make it evil! It simply is. If there is "power" in the gesture, then that does not mean that it is satanic or mind control or any such thing. It is simply a form of communication -- a tool just like raising your voice or leaning forward or raising your eyebrows (looks like you are smiling or happy).
If we start going around judging and condemning simply because of a hand gesture, we will start yet another witch hunt where innocent people will be wrongly condemned.
now you use the term "power"
Where does all this come from. Worth looking into I think!
Who is judging or condemning? Or jumping to conclusions?
Please...
Seriously. Where did I get the word power? From the discussions concerning this hand gesture. That is why the word is in quotes. I am not going to say that the hand gesture does not convey a certain emphasis or meaning. I think it does. But there are many different gestures, intonations, facial expressions and stances that are aids in strengthening communication. Does this make them evil?
Further, am I now to critique every word in the entire English language in fear of hidden meanings or that people like you will misconstrue what I say? This entire topic is judging and condemning. It is basically arguing that anyone who uses this hand signal is evil, and that is simply not true -- unless you take in the generic sense that all men are evil before God, but that is a different issue. You are in essence analyzing every word and gesture when what we should be watching is their actual actions: what kinds of laws do they pass, how do they treat people around them, are they speaking the truth, what happens as a result of their actions, their character. The Bible calls this their "fruit". It is the only way that you can truly evaluate anyone.
Consider if Ron Paul used this hand gesture in an interview. Would you suddenly denounce him? Would you ignore the decades of his voting record, personal stands for justice, and strong moral character and focus instead on how he positioned his fingers while speaking?
Really, you need to get off this hand gesture nonsense. Innocent people could be harmed by being wrongfully accused simply because they use a "forbidden" hand signal that is, in and of itself, benign.
Thank you.
Here's the problem. You will beat your head against the wall for the next two weeks about trying to help people understand the finer points of nonverbal communication, our ingrained responses due to gestures reminding us subconsciously of our parents or other strong figures, etc. You will put things in extremely clear terms, using words like "power" to summarize the idea that using gestures which have commonly held meanings in the world of nonverbal communication would be a good thing to have.
You will then get succinct responses like, "conjures and craft are terms used in witchcraft/sorcery."
Wonderful. Bumbling over the fact that they use such terms because they sound archaic and they hope to gain members in their cult like followings. Usually targeting people who feel disinterested with their daily lives and want something to believe gives them "power." Ever notice that no one practicing "witchcraft" in any sort of cabal can't get a date, more or less any earth shaking magical abilities?
Back to nonverbal communication and logic please.
It's like being able to speak English in America. Nonverbal communication amounts for some absurd percentage of our feelings towards a person. This isn't witchcraft, this isn't "sorcery," and I'd advise anyone who thinks it is to take a clear look at a good psychology book now and then.
I'd like to go back to the person citing the "cargo cults" which sprung up in the Pacific Islands after WW2. You can't use God/Witchcraft labels to explain away everything you lack the information to understand.

"You can't use God/Witchcraft labels to explain away everything you lack the information to understand."
Actually, Eric, you can use god, juju, or Lex Luthor to explain anything! That's what is so appealing about theism. It's easier than thinking. A scientist confesses his ignorance, the mystic surrenders to it.
