Rhino: We all have our roles.
Some like to lead.
Some like to follow.
Some have comfort in their existing lives.
Some do not.
We are all equals, we simply choose the roles that we are best at or feel most comfortable with.
Some may feel that their choices are limited by their circumstances. Circumstances of choice and circumstances of birth. Circumstances that are reinforced by policy and circumstances that are dictated by policy.
Some choose the intellectual battle.
Some choose the physical battle.
Some choose both.
The battle will be to turn non-humans into humans. We are all enfranchised, human or not, so we must make humans out of the ones that have chosen not to exist. Once we have convinced them to become human, we then must convince them to choose freedom. So this task is two fold and must be done in the order described.
I have filled all these roles in my somewhat modest life. Modest in age and means. Most of us, in our lives, have done the same.
We all have our roles.
If you exist, you have entered the battle. You know what to do. Do not alienate those that choose roles that are different, or less meaning, or less influential.

All the newcomers out there this is what we are all about. Pick a role and go out and achieve your goals.

This will take time and Dr. Ron Paul knew this. He has never shown urgency. He knew that the odds were slim that he would be alive when his dream is recognized. The time chose him; he did not choose the time.
Note: I said the odds are slim, but the movement, as Dr. Paul states every chance he gets, has taken on a life of its own, much larger than even he thought possible.

But as I told Sarge further down, this is a good thread topic. It applies to the movement. It applies on a personal level. All kinds of things determine the roles we play.
Our roles change. We have to reassess things, re-examine them from time to time, take inventory. To move forward, we have to be able to do these things.

This is a good thread topic. It applies to the movement. It applies on a personal level. All kinds of things determine the roles we play.

That element is present in Khomar's discussions and mine with Rhino. There are other good comments here as well.
Others can surely appreciate the pause to think about our roles and what determines and affects them, even if they do not participate in the current discussion.
If others do not want to comment on this thread when it is revived, there are plenty of other topics to pick from.
While some people do not like Rhino or his posts, this is a good thread topic and always applies.
Please do not make people reluctant to post here, or make Rhino afraid to respond because of "flack" he might get about it being an old thread. Again, the conversations are current.
If this thread is closed, would our discussions here be lost? There is a lot here that we are still exploring in our current conversations.

What seems to be the crux of the argument...
in my opinion is this question, can a person be unselfish and be successful in business at the same time. Are these two things mutually exclusive? or, what is the true relationship between them?
From reading many of the posts, not all of them, it seems that Komar thinks this is not possible and somehow anti Christian.
It also seems that Rhino thinks that the energy spent on getting money ( call it growing wealth, making a living, whatever you want) originates in selfishness.
Maybe there is just a different meaning that both of you are attributing to the word, Selfishness?
I think the discussion has merit and thank you both for your comments.

My point regarding selfishness is this: if your focus is on selfishness, your actions will inevitably be corrupted. It is possible to be a successful businessman while also being unselfish because your focus is on providing a good service at a reasonable price (ie. a price that allows for the cost of business with a modest profit). If that is your goal, your company will likely do quite well.
What we see in corporate America today is that the focus is completely selfish: maximize profits. The net result is bad service, inferior products, overpaid executives, and massive off-shoring.
We need to get our eyes off ourselves and work to help those around us. That is one of the key points of Jesus' message. He came not to rule, even though that was his right. Rather, he came to serve God and those around him in his life and ultimately through his death on the cross, the ultimate act of selflessness.
