I left this board quite some time ago when I realized that it was fast degenerating into well, something that we have been accused of for quite some time. I check back in, to see if it has gotten better... And find that it has gotten much, much worse.
Did you know that when someone says I love you in sign language, they are really giving props to Satan?
Did you know that when someone licks their lips while talking, it means they are really a lizard man thing in disguise?
Did you know that aliens are harvesting us as a food source?
Did you know that everything has been planned by an elite group of people for thousands of years, meticulously carrying out the plans of their ancestors who they don't even have names for anymore?

See the irony in that? A "cargo cult" is a group, who lacking knowledge, fill in the blanks from their own personal understanding of the world regardless of how little sense or data is available to suggest it's plausibility.
When any complex or absurd motive is applied to those in power, beyond the real and tangible motives of greed, lust, and power, we all look ridiculous. Work with what you know, with facts, data and information. Throw out any speculative conclusions and replace it with honest, sincere and thoughtful questions.
People will take you more seriously, and maybe I can stop being ashamed that I am considered a part of the Revolution. Otherwise, you will fall firmly into the LaRouche category which everyone has so desperately tried to pin on us.
EDIT: P.S. I used to attribute the insanity to trolls at least. But given that the same people as before are posting regularly on these absurd topics, it indicates to me that they truly are probably RPers and just woefully misguided which is why I took the time to post this.

I am impressed. How did you dig that out. Very interesting. So the very hand sign that means "I love you" was thought up by the "head" of the One World Religion's protige and became the secret hand signal for the secret societies. So if you are hand signaling, you better do it one word at a time, not all three at the same time. "I" = index, "love" = index and thumb, "you" = index and pinky. Why didn't you tell us this before!! So there are basically two secret hand signals. This one and the one that looks like you are saying "just a little bit."

As far as the rest, I have no information on any of that. Though the idea that Keller invented modern sign language seemed off to me based on what I do know about her, so looked it up and this was the statement at wikipedia (not the best source of course) on modern sign language.

Keller does learn sign language from her teacher. The teacher certainly does not seem to be making it up as she goes. But maybe Keller came up with the single hand sign for I love you.

believe it not, you supporting Ron Paul makes you a Conspiracy theorist! But who cares, this isn't a popularity contest in High School. People will always have there beliefs, but to say they are misguided or that they are a cargo cult, is retarded. People do believe in the occult, people believe that there are aliens, and you know what, they are people who believe in the truth! They want the truth, and thats all that we ask for!
So don't ridicule people who believe in these things, you are just trying to make yourself seem more "intelligent" than the rest of us.

People need to be more tolerant. I am sick of those who try to tell everyone what they can say. I suggest to those who have conspiracy theories, just ignore these critics. Maybe every idea doesn't reflect well on Dr. Paul, but I don't think every idea refects on him anyway. The main thing is that we who support him have seen that free speech and the public good has been infringed by the media and that is part of what makes us come together in support of Dr. Paul. No one here has a right to declare himself the arbiter of what is "correct", anymore that the PC crowd in Washington or on the college campuses. Grow up and accept the fact that people have different opinions and the true RP revolutionary will embrace the fact that we are all entitled to our own.
I suspect that the ones making the noise aren't true Paulites, but if you are then show some maturity.

Take a second, and re-read the post. It is clear to me that you didn't read it, or missed the statement of it.
Dr. Paul is actually rather irrelevant to me at the moment (e.g. how it reflects on him or even this site) because what I am trying to do is give advice to strengthen the movement. The advice is the same as the advice given by Socrates. If you don't know, ask.
If anyone took this advice to heart which did not previously understand it, then hopefully they will learn to vet the things that people try to convince them of in a better way.
Dr. Paul cannot be irrelevant
to anyone who believes in the movement and wants it to prosper. I believe the strength of the movement comes from the sense of solidarity that people derive from the conviction that they share a common cause. That cause is liberty. Liberty of thought and expression is at its core. Anything that impedes this one unifying factor is destructive to our movement and undermines our philosophy.

Terribly incorrect on many points...
First, Socrates was the opposite of a know it all, and his statement was that "All that I know, is that I know nothing.", and in fact was ordered to be executed because he refused to accept the notion given by the Oracle at Delphi that he was the wisest man in Greece which was blasphemy for him to call a god a liar.
His goal in life was to simply ask questions, and never provided answers.
Second, just because I believe in legalizing drugs doesn't mean I won't tell someone that they are hurting them when I see that they are. Freedom does not mean you never get critiqued. In fact, there is NO freedom from being offended. You do not have a right to be protected from me calling you out on the things you say, anymore than I have right to stop you from saying them.
But, you and most who share opinion here confuse freedom of speech with freedom from offense.
You have a right to say whatever thing comes to mind and believe whatever you want, but that doesn't mean you have a right to be protected from critique of that thing.
Further, I gave the good advice to ask questions instead of introducing fiction. Your approach of let it go, unquestioned is what got us into this mess. And if I see someone calling a turtle a duck, I will point out to them that a duck doesn't have a shell.

At some point some hypotheses MUST be rejected because they have been proven wrong.
Most of the skeptics here go into great detail in pointing out the fallacies promoted by the conspiracy theorists, to no avail. The most common argument used by the conspiracy theorists to support their views is, "the government does bad things therefore you have to be a sheep to not believe that they are using holograms and secret aircraft..."
The problem I see is not blind rejection by skeptics, but blind acceptance by the conspiracy theorists.

Is that it appears anyone who understands what I am saying already agreed with the advice and assessment, and everyone else is just going to ignore what I said.
I wish they taught proper logic and reasoning skills in schools. And that isn't a slight to you or anyone else.
I just get tired of people not being able to differentiate fact from opinion or a valid theory from wild speculation.
Just because I say the moon is made of cheese does not make it a theory, because their is no basis for the theory, it is wild speculation based on no available information.
And just because I say that I personally believe X, does not make X a fact that I have and know if there is no evidence. It makes it an opinion.
Further it is impossible to prove a negative. You can prove a positive which will then make the negatives false, but you can never prove a negative is true.
Most people that believe they are in a debate don't even understand these basic principles.
You introduce evidence to form a theory which allows you to prove/test the evidence and turn it into factual information. Is it really so hard to understand that?

The Daily Paul is dying
Unfortunately, I have to agree ---- the level of intellectual and civil discourse on this site has been dropping fast for the last two or three months, to the point that I don't come here as much anymore, and soon may not visit at all. I am not going to point my finger at any particular topic, but the level of general "kookiness" has indeed been rising, as well as the amount of bitter and petty bickering and pissing contests among certain members, who apparently are willing to sit on their computers until they die just to get in the last word.

I will be the first to admit that I have posted some things I probably should not have, the overall "mood" of the board seems to have definitely shifted in the last few months. It's actually kind of sad, in a way .... that one of the main places online where we all came to support Ron Paul and logged on every day for hours at a time just to catch the latest news or newest video has dissolved into what it has. Perhaps it's just natural that the topics are changing, since the campaign has slowed down, but there is a definite difference, to be sure.
