Talk of the Nation Today!!
RP talked for 34 minutes on NPR's Talk of the Nation. He was given a very fair interview...I'm LOVING that MSM seems to be waking up that the candidate they chose John McCain, can not even READ a speech.

Can't read a speech
and you better not let him open his mouth to be spontaneous. He get's everyone in trouble then.
just remember...
the "MSM" didn't "CHOOSE" anyone.
the people who own the old media did.
small, but very important distinction.
why? because i easily find myself hating the people i accidentally see on the tv screen when i accidentally walk into my bank - and no the ones who hired them to do their dirty work. even my bank has fox going every damn day. can you believe that?
now i have steely dan in my head. "i don't wanna dooooo your dirty work...
no mooooooorrrrrre. i'm a fool to do your dirty work......ooooh yeeeaaah."
He Spoke of Rally at National Convention
I know there is an effort to organize at the national convention. Paul knows about it and seems to want it. So if you can get up there, do it.
Why be depressed?
Has anyone here ever thought that RP really WANTED to be President? That is not his style. He has been WILLING to be President, if we demand it of him. That is the way it should be. If only more politicians and more citizens had this attitude towards office. It should not be about personal ambition being able to get enough backers, it should be about principles and the willingness to do what is asked of you.
Free and Brave
or Cradle to Grave
You can't have both
Indeed, Randy
You actually phrased my thoughts much better. RP had presented himself to be willing to be prez, not desiring the office for power or prestige or out of personal desire, but out of a sense of duty. I deeply admired him for that!
I don't know that he's willing anymore. I don't think he ever expected he'd last this long in the race, and I don't think he ever considered that things would progress so far that he actually could be president, so for the past year, he was all about getting his message out under the guise of running for the office without any threat or risk of actually getting the nomination. But now it's coming down to brass tacks, and I don't think he really wants to accept the mantle of the presidential office. And if that's the case, then I'm not only depressed; I actually feel somewhat betrayed and a little angry at my dear doctor, for whom I've been stumping over the past 16 or so months. Was it just a ruse?
If everything turns around at the convention (which he seemed to voice his opinion against in that NPR interview); even if he got all the necessary delegates;...would he accept the nomination?
Would he?
Still feeling a little punched in the ol' gut.
"No."
The last question on the show:
Question: "Is Ron Paul going to run for President in the General Election?"
RP's Answer: "No."
...uh...
Hm.
It sounded throughout this interview that he is the reluctant candidate; not really running for the office, but running only to prove a point, namely that our country needs to return to its roots. He even stated that his purpose throughout this campaign has always been to spread the message (as opposed to become President).
I think he always has been reluctant to run for President; I don't think he has ever really wanted to be President, but has dearly wanted to get our country back on course. Yet, I've also always viewed the phenomenal support he has received as an indicator that he would be thus emboldened, and would indeed step up to the Presidential plate, so to speak.
There was his concession-that-wasn't-a-concession video several weeks back...
...and now, this flat out..."no."
Does the guy want to be President?
Shall I remove the giant "Ron Paul for President" magnets from the sides of my car?
As I talk with people, should I be changing my approach to be solely for working towards a Constitutional republic in general, instead of RP for Prez?
???
I'm suddenly feeling very depressed.
Yes, No, Yes, No
My thoughts are like yours fanofwalt. I get confused sometimes, just the other day on FOX, he was asked the very same question and Dr. Paul, said yes. I would expect more consistancy. Dr. Paul will always be the most awesome person that opened my eyes and got my undivided attention.

Don't miss this interview!
fantastic - let's now be too sad about the "No." We've got to be proud that Dr. Paul has kept his word about not dropping out of the race till the end. - We now have to show the public that this movement isn't just about RON PAUL - it's about the message.

Abortion discussion
Dr. Paul's discussion on his stance on abortion is so
far ahead of any candidate in its intelligence....WHY can't
people see what a wonderful opportunity we have to elect
a SMART president???
because most people in this
because most people in this country are products of the government run public school system and cannot think for themselves! most of this population is brainwashed!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
Absolutely
I was pro-abortion and then I heard Ron Paul talk about it. He said that one of his friends who is a doctor would perform abortions until ultra sounds came out. So I went online and looked at the 3D ultra sounds of a baby at all stages of pregnancy and I just realized I had been so ignorant. It's not just a collection of unfeeling cells. If you look at a 3D ultra sound there is no way you can support abortion at any stage. I showed my husband who was pro-abortion too and it changed his mind. It really bothered him too.
Refreshing
It's refreshing to see a post like this. I am so tired of hearing about a woman's right to choose. The aborted fetus didn't have a right to choose. My daughter wasn't planned and put a huge burden on me financially, but not one time did I ever consider abortion. It was never an option for my g/f and me. My daughter is almost 16, and I couldn't imagine my life without her.
The choice should be made before sex, i.e. birth control. No, it's not 100%, but close. People need to take responsibility for their actions instead of running to the abortion clinic for a quick fix.
Knowledge of the truth really is very powerful
I know many people who have come to the same conclusion as you and your husband, Shannon.
I did not have 3D ultrasounds to look at when I first started seriously considering this issue, but I did lots of research on my own. I learned about the actual methods used to commit abortions, and was disgusted. I learned what actually happens in even the very earliest abortions and it was apparent very quickly that only one reasonable conclusion could be reached on this issue: abortion is the taking of a human life, pure and simple.
Ron Paul speaks to the issue with such clarity and authority, I know he has convinced several people I know to change their stance on the matter. It helps that Ron Paul is an OB doctor by trade, not just a politician pandering for votes. THAT makes a big difference.
I feel like I have learned much in this area too
I supported abortion because everyone always makes the argument about the rape victim. What they never think is "Why punish the child?" I was adopted from birth and the thought that someone could have legally deprived me of the right to live is scary to me.
I always thought the "womans
I always thought the "womans right to choose" thing was a little unfair since there's actually a total of three people involved in every pregnancey... But what really changed my views was Dr. Paul's whole concept of changing America's "life is dispensible" mentality.
