Show Our Mettle - Give For China and Myanmar
We who believe in the Constitution recognize that true compassion comes from the hearts of the American people and not by or from our government. We Ron Paul supporters have raised millions for Ron Paul's campaign, but the devastation in Myanmar and China dwarf anything that we can possibly imagine.
After looking at the images of the complete destruction of a large area of China, I feel compelled to give personally to help these hurting people. I cannot look into the face of the weeping parents holding their dead child and not think of my own children. I think it is time to set aside our political and domestic battles for a moment and show the generosity and compassion of the American people.
We must put politics and history aside for this -- this is much more basic and real, compassion for a hurting and suffering people -- and they need our help desperately. I encourage each of you to consider giving money to the relief organization of your choice. I personally will be giving to an organization that I am very familiar with (World Vision), but there are many other organizations that are involved in aiding in the effort. Our gifts now can only help our relationship with all nations around the world and save thousands if not millions of lives.
This is where we show the true measure of America: in the generosity of we the people.

Screw that!!! Give the money
Screw that!!! Give the money to me. I just went through a bankruptcy and lost everything. Wouldn't helping someone here at home be a little better than giving to people half way around the world? Shoot go to the local homeless shelter and give to them. Give to the local boys ranch. Give to anything that will help out your fellow Americans before sending money outside the country. Until there is no more homeless Americans I say keep the money here and give to someone close to you. Why send money to China to help someone you'll never see when you can help that homeless guy you see walking around on your way home from work?
I would like to see people
I would like to see people taking care of folks here at home. Picher,Oklahoma was levelled last week by a tornado. Not a single home remains. Seven people were killed. They need a lot of help there!
No f'in way!!!
My attitude is boofreakinhoo.
...
Did you even look at the pictures in that article? Do you realize that between these two disasters, over 150,000 people have died? These aren't government bureaucrats or rich businessmen (not that that should really matter, honestly) -- these are regular men and women not all that dissimilar from us. I have personally met many Chinese people, and I found them to be warm, friendly, and they had a good sense of humor.
If we show no compassion to others, should we ever expect to receive compassion ourselves?
I do have compassion for
I do have compassion for them. I think the best thing we can do for them is spread the message of Liberty worldwide.

Where is the Mercy?
I am seeing a very disturbing trend on DailyPaul, and it is not the abundance of conspiracy theories (though that is a problem as well). It is the lack of compassion and mercy for other people.
I listened recently to an interview with a woman who claimed to have been a member of the Illuminati, and the thing that really struck me about her interview was her compassion for those still in the cult. She cared very deeply for the children who were suffering and her former friends and family members who were daily being repressed in their "programming". Quite honestly, it gave her entire testimony more credence in my mind. She was informing people about this evil group not to illicit fear of their power and capabilities, but to explain that they need our help to be freed themselves from the tyranny of evil.
Our country will soon be facing an economic disaster -- quite likely far worse than anything that our country has yet known. While we certainly should be stocking up food and provisions for our families, we need to also be preparing our hearts to help the hurting people who will be all around us. Are we to hunker down in our bunkers cold, bitter, and selfish, or are we to emerge with hope and help, offering people a way out of the suffering that they will find themselves in.
We have an amazing opportunity to take back the hearts and minds of our country and to point them back to the founding principles that made our country great. Forget the politics. Forget the government. Think about it! When was this country ever supposed to be about the government. It was always and ever supposed to be about the people.
We here on Daily Paul have lost our way just as the rest of the country. We are looking to government to solve our problems -- this time by electing Ron Paul to lead us. Don't get me wrong; I very much desire a Ron Paul presidency as I believe it will lessen the impact of the crisis considerably, but far, far more important is that we as a country change our hearts. We need to embrace all people as valuable and important. Remember, all men are created equal and endowed with certain inalienable rights -- all men, even the Chinese and Myanmar. Even the Arabs. Even the liberals and neo-conservatives. Even those dastardly leaders of the Republican party who are trying to thwart our political efforts.
Even if you do not share my beliefs, there is much wisdom in this verse. Rather than become the very evils that we are trying to deliver ourselves from, we should seek to be better: to love more, to give more, to share more than any other people on this planet. If we can demonstrate that the American ideals create not only more prosperity but more generosity as well, we can change the world. This is the real revolution. This is what Ron Paul talks about when he says his changes will take a generation. This is what he talks about when he talks about changing hearts and minds on abortion. This is far more than just politics.
Even if you don't feel compelled to give to China or Myanmar, search your hearts and prepare them to reach out to your neighbors and your fellow countrymen. We will all be needing each other in the times ahead.
No man is an island. Start building those bridges today.
I can't even think about
I can't even think about 'donating' to this when people here can not even spare a DIGG for articles regarding the genocide of the FLDS families.
Why?
So because other people lack compassion, you are going to lack compassion as well?
see the movie blackhawk
see the movie blackhawk down? remember in the beginning of the movie where the dictator was taking all the un food supplies? this is the same thing in myanmar.. it is unfortunate but what can you do? China on the other hand is more wealthy then we are! they need to take care of their own.. I did not see china rushing to the aid of those in the Katrina hurrican!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
This is not about Government
The key to your point is that it was UN food supplies. When the aid comes from governments, it goes to other governments. Relief organizations like World Vision and Samaritan's Purse, for example, already have field teams in place in both of these countries working in other relief efforts, so they already have direct access to the people in need. Yes, our federal assistance will likely get lost in corruption. This is where private giving is so much better than trusting our government bureaucracy.
Further, I could not care less that China did not help us. That is not the point. Do we really just want to compare ourselves to one of the most evil governments on earth? Would we not want to excel where they failed?
These are men and women, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. These are real people just like you and I who are suffering and overcome with grief. Do we have no compassion for our fellow men?
Have we become so wrapped up in hording our silver and gold that we no longer care about the lives of other people. Beware the lure of riches, for it is this very greed that corrupted and destroyed the souls of the central bankers.
We should not seek to be like our enemies. We should seek to set an example of what true free men and women should be.
unless you can go to myanmar
unless you can go to myanmar and give it person to person i think your good effort is wasted.. I don't like to see people suffer either, my heart goes out to them. but I would be very careful who you trust with your charity!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
and if you think that
and if you think that military dictatorship is going to let private companies help with out giving a gratuity your nuts!
Very well said!

No offense...
But our bank (China) is going to own us in about 3 years. Not to put down the suffering of a fellow human being... but they've been sandbagging the worth of thier currency for years while buying up most of the silver on the planet.
This may set them back a bit... let them deal with it.
Keep your money for your family for a little later down the line.. it may help.
Generosity
I have already stocked up food, water, silver, and gold for my family. I have paid down most of my debt, and we have adjusted our lifestyle.
But we are still fat and happy -- grossly wealthy compared to most people in the world. Yes, the Chinese government is wealthy, but the average Chinese citizen is not. These people need help desperately, and this is an opportunity for us to bridge the distance between us and show compassion in a way that we never could in the normal politicized process.
The Bible tells me to give generously, to never withhold help when it is within my power to give it.
If you do not feel compassion for the Chinese, at least consider giving to the relief efforts in Myanmar.
If all we do is hold onto our own hordes and ignore the suffering of those around us, can we truly say we are any better than the central bankers?
What about helping AMERICA?
What about helping AMERICA? And if you have already put your financial house in order, bought coins, food, water and land, you are in much better shape than most people here, let alone most ordinary Americans.

Actually
We go to the other side of our state once a month and help out with the homeless in Oklahoma City.
I've a group that gets together to help elderly people get thier yards and gardens ready every spring.
Attempt once a week to do a random act of kindness.
America is dying all around you.. focus closer to where you live.,
There are plenty of things that you can do without giving money to an operation that will eventually deliver 1/10th of 1 percent to someone in a country that has more than you do, but thier government would rather rely on foreign aid.
And not to be rude, but writing a check once a month isn't giving.. it is you absolving yourself from the guilt of not helping out more around you.
Get personally involved.. if you can smell it, you are involved.
exactly Devon! hell why
exactly Devon! hell why arn't those rich oil wealthy arabs taking care of there muslim brothers... interesting isn't it?

Good Point
I wholeheartedly agree, and you make an excellent point. However, in this situation, there is little that I can do personally other than to give money to organizations that are already there.
We should all be also looking for opportunities to help those in our local communities as well.
I Give Locally As Well
There is a food kitchen in a town not far from here that my family contributes too (when the kids get a little older, we will start donating time as well), and our church is also very active in local activities to help people in the community.
These organizations that I am referring too also ensure that a very high percentage of the money they receive goes directly to the people who need assistance. I do not remember the figures for World Vision right off hand, but it is greater than 80%.
If we continually try to evaluate how much someone deserves help, we run the danger of becoming a miser. Sometimes, you just need to have faith that the money given will cause some good. I don't want to waste my money either, but I don't want to be so cautious with it that people suffer because of my neglect.
I can understand what you are saying...
I'm soft-hearted as well, so have to watch my priorities. My first is my family. If you think that what is going on in China right now is a big deal, write down the next sentence and put it in a box.. then open it up and read it 6 years from now.
If tomorrow you had no access to basic utilities and a grocery store for 2 years... how would you and your family fare?
See you then.. ;)
Working on it
We're not up to two years, but we do have a supply of food that should last us well over six months at this point plus a garden that we are growing and nearby forests with wild game (turkey and deer). We continue to work on getting ourselves more self sufficient from utilities, but quite honestly, I am not sure that any of us is really prepared for the times that are coming -- even those fully stocked with 5+ years of food and provisions. If things go down as badly as many signs suggest, it will be a major life shift for all of us. Perhaps the most important preparation for me (personally) is getting my spiritual life in shape with God. I have faith that He will sustain me through the times ahead, and with hard work and a clear head, I can provide for my family.
Life is full of the unexpected. I prepare as best as I can and leave the rest to God.
excellent khomar! God comes
excellent khomar! God comes first! then stocking extra food etc for those during that hard time... Christian charity! and yes God helps those who help themselves!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
It makes no sense to help Myanmar
as long as the Statist thugs are stealing the relief aid.
Exactly how will you be helping?

the only problem is , is that you can not give it person to person.. either the people running the aid station will take 90% of your dollar for admin istration, or the commie bastards in government will take it! sorry but thats the sad truth!
