Many of today's generation do not recall the GI Movement during Vietnam.
It's been brushed aside by revisionist historians, but the loudest protesters of the Vietnam war were GI's. There was a military draft then, so the "clean war" the American public thinks Iraq is was not the same in Vietnam.
They refused orders in the field, and on a very sad note, many US officers died in nefarious incidents. One of the impetus' for the Paris peace talks was that some platoons in Vietnam refused to fight anymore.
There is a doc film called"Sir! No Sir!" which documents this movement for history.
and this needs to get dugg. This is the audio where he said he wasn't going to serve as well as where other troops denounced the occupation. PLEASE digg this.
man who refused to wear a UN uniform. I think his first name was Michael. I remember he was homeschooled. Does anyone remember this?
I found his story, here's the link: http://www.mikenew.com/ne...

show it by setting up a donation site. he's going to need it for his defense. even though i think fighting the charges will be worthless. having served 3 years in the army i learned one thing for sure. the rules only apply when the government decides they do. he will be made an example to others who decide to take this route. only if a division worth of soldiers did this will it work. the people he spoke to don't give a damn what he had to say. everyone knows Iraq is a total mess. even Stevie Wonder can see that.
i admire him for having the balls to do this. i've been to Iraq and promise he isn't missing a damn thing. i see the "insurgents" for what they are. freedom fighters just like George Washington and the men who made up the Colonial Army. you wouldn't know it from watching tv of course, but this country is modern day Nazi Germany. our government is attacking countries that have done nothing to us. i will only laugh when Iran starts sinking aircraft carries. Heir Bush's billion dollar toys will be sent to the ocean depths by cheap cruise missiles.
while I'd like nothing more than to see the bush nazi forces get some egg on their face, the sinking of an American ship (especially a carrier with thousands onboard) would likely invoke nuclear retaliation and would probably trigger WW3... but yeah, that guy's true American hero!
This is the kind of soldiers we need for our Army, ones who think for themselves.
Thanks soldier. Stay home and protect us here.
We love and respect you.
