I Am Sworn Never to Kill

Or commit a violent act. It is my religion, my faith.

Skilled with a katana, a rifle (thanks Uncle Sam) and my pen I'll be happy to sit in their prisons with only my pen, of which is the most deadly to the brain.

As I teach my fellow prisoners how to build Stirling engines with oragami and lament how my only sin was not getting arrested for free speech sooner.

Thank you for writing me to express your concerns about the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (S. 1959/H.R. 1955). I appreciate hearing from you and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (HSGAC), I am leading an investigation into the causes of and the threat from homegrown terrorism inspired by violent Islamist extremism and what federal, state, and local governments are doing and need to do to counter and neutralize that threat.

This legislation, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 404-6 in October, would expand upon HSGAC's efforts by creating a bipartisan commission to examine and report upon the facts and causes of violent radicalization and ideologically-based violence. In the final report, the commission would identify its findings and conclusions and then make legislative recommendations for Congress to consider. The legislation also requires the Secretary to ensure that activities to prevent ideologically-based violence and homegrown terrorism do not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, and civil liberties of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.

Importantly, this legislation does not criminalize anything, does not infringe upon the rights of groups or individuals to protest peacefully, nor does it infringe upon the privacy or civil liberties of the American people. The legislation also directs the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Officer to ensure that the commission's activities do not infringe upon civil liberties.

Please be assured that I will keep your thoughts and concerns in mind as I continue to review this legislation. To keep track of future actions on S. 1959 or H.R. 1955, you can go to the "Bill Tracking" service at http://lieberman.senate.g....

If you would like to follow HSGAC's investigation into Islamist radicalization, please visit the Committee's web site at: http://hsgac.senate.gov. There you can access the schedule of upcoming hearings, view press releases, track legislation that has been sent to the Committee, and view other HSGAC information.

Additionally, my official Senate web site is designed to be an on-line office that provides access to constituent services, Connecticut-specific information, and an abundance of information about what I am working on in the Senate on behalf of Connecticut and the nation. I am also pleased to let you know that I have launched an email news update service through my web site. You can sign up for that service by visiting http://lieberman.senate.g... and clicking on the "Subscribe Email News Updates" button at the bottom of the home page. I hope these are informative and useful.

Please contact me if you have any additional questions or comments about our work in Congress.

Joseph I. Lieberman

And so what does our dear

And so what does our dear senator Lieberman (D-Israel) have to say about "violent ZIONIST extremism"? This snake has no right even to lick the toiletseats anywhere in Washington DC, much less insinuate his alien self into the US Senate.

14% Congress' approval Rating

Gallup.com
May 15, 2008. Congress' Approval Rating Ties Lowest in Gallup Records ... May 14, 2008. U.S. Satisfaction Down to 14%, Just Shy of All-Time Low ...
www.gallup.com/.

14% isn't the all-time low??

14% isn't the all-time low?? Wow! I wonder what the low actually IS and when they reached it. Just give this Congress time - they'll get there!

I'm just curious

Who are these 14%?

That amounts to more than 3 million people in this country who think congress is doing a good job. Where do I meet these people?

Retirement homes? But

Retirement homes? But seriously, if anyone can think BOOSH is doing a good job, they can think ANYTHING!

The Arrogance of Power- Cindy Sheehan- October 2007

" People of America, this is truly the problem with what was once a Representative Republic and now is a country run by "elected" officials who believe that they, individually and collectively, are above any accountability and are not answerable to their constituents. Our public servants erroneously believe that they are the leaders!"

http://www.counterpunch.o...

That bill is entirely illegal under the constitution.

I think it would serve us well to organize and march on Washington. I think it would be fair to say that there are a lot of us at this point. Its time to take the power back. Only we can relinquish our liberties by doing nothing.

I, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law;

we are obliged by our constitution to act. the above oath is paraphrased but the basic premise persists in all oaths for various offices in the united states including declaration of citizenship.

Our primary responsibility is to defend the constitution. that is everyone
that includes police , our representatives , our senate , our warriors in the armed services,. everyone.

I think its high time that we reeducate everyone what their responsibilities are, The federal government is rogue and has made everyone afraid of them.
that includes are congress.

I always find it morbidly amusing that every time the president wants to enact legislation that is illegal. There always seems to be some terrorist activity acting up and how he wouldn't want to be us with out the proposed unconstitutional legislation to protect us. It reminds me of what the mafia does...

you better do this and play along or something bad might happen.

And congress plays along; not because they are afraid that they will be blamed if there is an another attack on the American people. I believe they are actually afraid for their own lives and careers..

you don't play along a bad accident can happen.

I KNOW there has been crimes commited by our executive branch and those who they represent. I know that at the very minimum there has been complicity in many events that have enabled that group who was charged with the responsibility of protecting our freedoms, to gain unbridled power which is entirely illegal.

We the People

We are the boss.
we must get up from our workstations and make our presence be know.
we must tell them what they are and are not allowed to do.
we must reeducate our children and friends in the armed services so that they too can clearly see the treason which has infested the executive branch and has been allowed to trickle down ,like a poison to every level of government right down to our local police forces.

these people we have hired to perform these duties are criminals.
It is time NOW to march to Washington and conduct a major citizens arrest.

we are running out of time.

Thank you for reading
and god bless america

It passed "404-6"n the house?!?!

It passed "404-6" in the house?!?!

I guess this proves it....

The Neocon Republicans and clueless Democrats always join forces to destroy the constitution. (As a prime example, look at the issues that have inspired John McCain to become a "maverick" and "reach across the aisle" to join with the Democrats.)

The Republicrats seem to be opponents when it is a "meaningless" but inflammatory wedge issue like abortion, stem cell research, flag-burning, Ten Commandments in the courthouse, prayer in school, gay marriage, etc.

But when it is time to REALLY move down the field toward one world government, they suddenly link arms and sing "Kumbaya".

That is how John McCain has racked up such a high "conservative" voting record.
He always sides with conservative Republicans whenever it does not mean anything.
In fact, if you ever want to know what issues are important to the global fascists and their New World Order agenda, just watch when McCain (or Bush) suddenly gets a backbone and "stands up for what's right" against his own party.

This has been in

our sights for awhile - time for another round of emails and/or phone calls.

I will, this time, advise my representatives if they abstain, just answer present, or do not vote this bill down I will work diligently to elect their opposition!

THIS IS THE MESSAGE WE MUST SENT OUR SENATORS!

What opposition would that be?

At this point it doesn't make a lick of difference. They don't care, and they don't listen to the people. All they care about is power. And when the majority of Americans think like the ones we saw on the you-tube video taken on the beach in Florida we're...to put it bluntly, screwed.
Just think about what this piece of legislation is saying...
“The commission would be composed of appointees, one chosen each respectively by Bush, Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff, the Senate and House majority and minority leaders, and by the ranking majority and minority members of the two congressional homeland security committees.”
“a university-based "Center of Excellence" that would study and then, target domestic "radicalization" as a "threat" to the "homeland."

So, this commission as they call it, under the cover of a “university” ,so as not to be confused with the federal government, but run by members of the government and by un-elected officials will have the power to subpoena and compel testimony from anyone.
404 members of the house voted to approve this...so let's just all call our Senators and tell them we'll get them out of office, yeah, right.
I'm sorry, but I'm beginning to think this is all just one big hopeless cause. Someone...please cheer me up here. I'm drowning in pessimism.

wow

this will take away a lot of internet rights right? It sounds so. This is crap!
Why isn't someone doing something about this kind of stuff!

Hopefully all of us have

Hopefully all of us have contacted our Senators by now.

"Under cover of studying "violent radicalization," both bills would broaden the already-fluid definition of "terrorism" to encompass political activity and protest by dissident groups, effectively criminalizing civil disobedience and non-violent direct action by developing policies for "prevention, disruption and mitigation."
