Zogby: 48% of Voters Dissatisfied With Candidates.
Here's the link to the Free Republic web site:
http://www.freerepublic.c...
where the dislike displayed for McCain is overwhelming.
The Convention will be interesting if only some of the 48% of the delegates decide to represent their constituents.

FreeRepublic taken over by NannyState Social Conservatives
The reasons why many socially conservative FReepers hate McCain are often opposite of the reasons why Paulites don't trust McCain. They fear that McCain doesn't have ending premarital sex on his agenda and worry that he might not be interested in raising the age of consent to 21 and putting millions of men in jail after that. There are many people there whom I could see myself on opposite sides in a civil war...where we still agree that McCain must not be allowed to win this year.
The first 50 posts of any thread on FreeRepublic will include a lot of libertarian thinking businesspeople and servicepeople...but the backend of threads are patrolled by old women social conservatives who seriously want to imprison heterosexual men for wanting premarital sex or being attracted to women (other than themselves).
The owner of FR, Jim Robinson, is a 50-something male in a wheelchair who recently found an American girlfriend (in late 2005) who has laid down the law on what is "conservatism" needs to be defined as (men are bad and need to be regulated). I assume that the man is grateful that he is getting any attention at all due to his disability and is, thus, ready to sacrifice his principles and his manhood to accomodate her (she may be with him only to influence FR which was once powerful). The new moderators are decidedly not libertarian...but I recommend that people here register and try to last a few months each.
In my most recent incarnation, I lasted 4 months there before being deleted as a troll when I said the judge in Texas did not have a leg to stand on in taking 400 kids from their parents in the FLDS case. I wondered why the Republicans were upset about Waco in the 90s but now act like Janet Reno in the 2000s. I was deleted only as the thread got to be a day old and the libertarian crowd (most FReepers) had moved on.
The really sad thing is that the new moderators don't give anyone credit for their past history of good posts + (worst of all) once you are deleted, they delete EVERYTHING you ever wrote in retrospect.
That is why, if you last a few months and have written a lot of great things that were accepted, consider opening up another account and start writing from that one so the old work never gets deleted because some matron thinks all men belong in jail.
Threads at FR are like geography...early on they are safe and well-traveled but as the thread gets a day old, it is sparsely populated and patrolled by socon lionesses ready to pounce.
The free republic website is
The free republic website is lousy. What more needs to be said?
Libertarians are strange bedfellows Libertarianism doesn't work
But you've already noted this.
The fact is, however much you'd like to disagree, that strong families are the backbone of any sustainable society. It takes a strong father and a mother at home raising the next responsible generation. Truth, wealth information and customs get handed down within families (at least in those that function properly). It creates continuity and strong bonds between generations that crooked politicians have great difficulty controlling.
On the other hand, dirtbags who think being libertarian means the right to flop from bed to bed without guilt or responsibility, plus protection from paying taxes are drinking some kind of Kool-Aid.
The elite have carefully cultivated you and your ilk. You're the rotten fruit that has caused this country's woes. You are easy pickins for any two-bit politician because they know your price and the fact that you can't reason properly..
Wasn't it Tom Jefferson who said that our form of government was suitable only for a religious and moral people? Try stretching your mind around why he might have said that.
Those old ladies have a lot more wisdom than you give them credit for.
Yeah!

Free Republic was taken over by Bushies with Jim Rob's help in 2000, so I'm not surprised at this latest change.

Draft Dr. Paul!
Let's put an end to all the insnaity. Draft Ron Paul as an independent. I think he'd win the general elction- though the vote might be close.
We would then have a "president's president" who would take his constitutionally prescribed oath of office seriously.
Failing that, I'll be tempted to vote for "none of the above"- a ballot alternative i wish we had if we don't draft Ron Paul as an independent candidate.
What I don't understand
is what those other 52% are smoking.
Dito!!
Dito!!
The lesser of evil is still EVIL.
The moral hazard of Neo-con/Likud belief is getting blow back here and in Israel. It is really funny how the Neo-cons are afraid of lovers of liberty. McCain is short sighted.. The Democrat sponsored resolution to change the constitution is illegal and avoids the mandates of article V. The Democrat did this as blow back for the 2000 election. McCain should resign and we can perhaps get a spending cutter to attempt to rescue the dollar. Whomever gets elected will probably regret it.. The economy is in worse shape than the Jimmy Carter years and the the current crop of spenders don;t seem to have a clue... Perhaps the reason 48% don't care is because 52 % figured out intrusive government is the problem..
The lesser of evil is still evil.
so much dissatisfaction
and yet, so much voting for candidates they don't like. And the McCain people are all smug, like I told you your man can't win. They act like, see all the intelligent people voted for McCain, I'm not the only one. But you are. No one is voting for your man. So don't tell me I am voting wrong.
48% are unsatisfied with the candidates...
and the other 53% are unsatisfied with the election altogether!
Zogby's a fraud
I've been signed up for and completing Zogby's polls for over a year, and it seems I am always bypassed on the political ones (they e-mail them out.) Maybe it's because I always check the box indicating I support the Constitution Party.
Point being, I suspect that if he did a TRUE poll, the number would be much higher than a measly 48%!
Let's Reign! (Rev. 5:10)
Zogby's
completely stopped asking me to take his surveys. I guess I was giving the wrong answers.

Ron Paul and Congress
While I am displeased with any of the other three candidates, what I want to know is how the good doctor will handle a liberal, neocon Congress for many of his issues; i.e., the ones he cannot mandate as President?
The last thing we want after possibly winning is for him to become a lame duck with a gridlocked Congress!!
Dick
The first thing he can do is
The first thing he can do is nullify presidential executive orders...then he can arbitrarily bring our troops home...then dissolve most departments in the executive branch.
There's actually a lot he can do without the approval of Congress. We need him in office.

freedumb is not free! george bush says the president can do whatever he wants or atleast thats how he acts
Only 48%? I'd think it
Only 48%?
I'd think it would be much higher than that. Glad to see Free Republic develop some sensibilities again, at least in a negative context.
Most of the bozos who voted for Bush aren't buying McCain. This is a hopeful sign, I guess.

I think I see a pattern here. NeoCon strategy
I have recently watched the movie American Drug Wars, The War Profiteers, and now A/K/A Tommy Chong http://www.akatommychong....
I think I can clearly see a pattern here in the NeoCon strategy and it involves concern that there will be a revolution similar to what was seen during Vietnam. I think NeoCons are concerned that the American public will revolt soon if we move towards a North American Union, and try to take more of the Middle East. It appears that they are going after counter cultural icons and have targeted Marijuana as a large component of the 60s revolution. As a result they are increasing the war on drugs spending and going after cultural icon. The oddest icon to take out was Tommy Chong from Cheech and Chong. It seems that Tommy Chong's children had made a company selling Glass Paraphernalia that is not illegal in any state except PA, and somewhere else. The Glass Paraphernalia was called something like the Chong Bong. The DEA staged an entrapment case against this company in which despite this company having a policy to not ship products to PA, they tricked them by coming to the company in CA and ordering items that were out of stock and them asking them to ship them to PA. Anyway, watch the movie for details.
The NeoCons plan is to marginalize any cultural icons that may be leaders of any counter cultural revolt against these war mongers.
It is really something to think about especially when you see the movie American Drug war where it is proven the US Government was distributing drugs such as Cocaine from Nicaragua in order to fund the Iran Contra arms.
I am not the best at forming conspiracy theories as I think a number of these are crocks, but I do see a pattern here
Absolutely necessary to legalize drugs . . .
As a result they are increasing the war on drugs spending and going after cultural icons.
This is the most intrusive, and easily accessed facism. After 35 years of watching the "weed kills" propaganda, your right, they are "stepping" up the MSM lies about marijuana, the safest substance on the planet.
Another ruse is the "feeding of the 3d world" . . . The monsanto model since 1913 has not fed the world, but took away the very substance of self preservation a community can have . . . local farms. Take time to view the DVD "The Creature from Jekyl Island". It talks about the Fed Reserve historically causing economic collapse . . . .
Bring in hemp . . . and out the industrialized farm fiasco.
Instead of sending "plastic" food, assist them (America and the third world) in growing their own locally sustainable crops, exploding with nutrients. That's something to "dance" about!
Plant orchards, drill water wells, instead of ecouraging a constant use of "emergency food" (packaged, nutritionally deficient and GMO). Get towar a more plant base diet . . the third world is not hung up on meat like we are. Meat is way over rated as a food source. I rarely touch the stuff.
Hemp can be this driving force. It's easy to plant and invigorates the soil. Marijuana's medicinal use is a beautiful thing . . . and helps in stressfull times. And it brings the people together.
Marijuana has been marginalized . . . illegally . . . Just like the Ron Paul movement.
The NWO is a fraud, created through monopoly. It's a front for the largest and most criminal real estate acquisition company in the world.
We can take back our farm lands. They were acquired from us fraudulently. This is our power base. This is local control. Land is handed back to the people throughout history. Begin the legal investigation and the fraud into the local planners and developers. For 35 years, I have seen nearly every "population or land use limits" being suffocated by the bribery, with true ecological and moral disregard
Plant hemp.
What really gets me...
is the fact that these Republicans will still vote for a person just because they are a Republican candidate. What has happened to America, do they not vote with integrity, and principles anymore. Out of all the Republican candidates that ran during this election cycle McCain was the one with the least conservative Republican platform, so tell me why did these people vote for him, well it could only be because the media created him to be the presumptive nominee whether the conservative Republicans wanted him or not. It is a very sad situation, but the revolution lives on, and is being spread everyday. I am hoping that when the convention comes around these people will wake up and listen to Ron Paul, if not I can only think that the media has duped the Republicans, and the Dems will have Obama in office next year.
Tribalism
We have a natural inclination to join gangs. I think it has to do which something primitive within us. "Birds of a feather flock together."
I think that the reason Dr. Paul is hated by some is that they see him as a traitor to the American Gang when he did not stand up as a gang member and support the war; kill those friggin Arabs is what they wanted to hear. Our gang against their gang is how most Americans see the war in Iraq. Bloods vs Crips.
We live a lot more by emotion instead of reason than we even ourselves realize. Indeed, emotion blocks reason.
Media!
We can beat the media if we ALL turn out by sending emails to them (and Congress)...they need to see with their own eyes there is a very strong grass roots support organization that will not give up!
I know this works...last year when Congress was debating "Comprehensive Amnesty for Illegals" (with support from McCain and the Dems)the people flooded them and the media with emails and faxes...and it died, at least for the moment.
A group that was instrumental in this was "Numbers USA" that helped to send thousands of emails, faxes and phone calls!
Dick
worse vs. worsest
For decades I was confused why in the general election for president the choices were WORSE vs. WORSEST.
Last year I learned why this happens, and I got involved. Now things are changing for me, and I am making change locally:
precinct chair
town council
delegate going to state convention
Talk to two new people today, share the message ;)
Riverrun is doing the activity. He is one of millions around the planet. But today, he is number one for me.
Continue to seek activites you can do. Reconnect with locall meet ups. Especially, make those calls, send those emails to senate and congress and take the time to understand the "acts" "bills" "resolutions". Start with the ones that interest you. For me it's "Codex" and other food and farm subjects. Today, I'm reading up on the "Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act". I still pass out RP info cards. Ask a person what their vision for the future of mankind should be. Remind them that never before have we had instantaneous access to truth thru satelite and vedio cams.
I leave you with these sign off lines from two of my favorite mentors:
