Court: Paper money discriminates against the blind
What about the rest of us? Maybe we should jump in on this lawsuit! j/k
From the AP article: "Close your eyes, reach into your wallet and try to distinguish between a $1 bill and a $5 bill. Impossible? It's also discriminatory, a federal appeals court says.
"Since all paper money feels pretty much the same, the government is denying blind people meaningful access to the currency, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled Tuesday. The decision could force the Treasury Department to make bills of different sizes or print them with raised markings or other distinguishing features.
"The American Council of the Blind sued for such changes, but the government has been fighting the case for about six years.
"The U.S. acknowledges the current design hinders blind people, but it argues that they have adapted. Some rely on store clerks to help, some use credit cards and others fold certain corners to help distinguish between bills."

I don't see what the problem is
In a short time a 100 is worth 1. So who cares?
But these are FRN's, not government money, so no need to comply. I can't wait to see this argument.
The only real currency is coins which are easily distinguishable. Another plug for real money.
The Reason this is bs
A long time ago in a life far away I was a route man for a food vendor. One of my accounts was a blind newsstand with snacks and such. The blind cashier could tell all the bills apart easily. So, I'm wondering what this is really about.

Really? Not that I believe
Really? Not that I believe the article's concern but I really did not know blind people could tell the bills apart.
