State of Texas to families: "We've got your kids now give us all your money, and by the way, screw y'all!"

This has got me very angry. VERY ANGRY.

What country are we in, again, someone remind me please????????? The way I add it all up, with the state estimating they will be keeping the children for twelve months, the State Legislature in Texas wants to go after the FLDS Church to the tune of $27.9 million.

Hmmm....the YFZ Ranch just happens to have an assessed value of $24 million. Methinks the state would settle for that.

So, we have the plan to destroy a people laid out for us:
1) Steal the children
2) Scatter the children to the four winds
3) Require parents not be allowed to go live in their very nice homes they built themselves, but instead to go on welfare and rent apartments, and get jobs flipping burgers
4) Give the children back after a year and after the beautiful ranch property has been vacant and fallen into disrepair
5) Give the church and/or parents a bill for 30-freaking-million dollars
6) Sit around and congratulate selves for defeating the evil Mormons
and, finally....
7) Build NAFTA Superhighway through the land that was once a beautiful, industrious testimony to the value of hard work and effort, by a productive and faithful people.

I'm pissed. Anyone else???????

State may try to seize sect's assets

By JOHN MORITZjmoritz@star-telegram.com
AUSTIN — With the price care for the more than 400
children seized last month from the polygamist ranch
in West Texas expected to reach into the tens of
million of dollars, a legislative panel on Tuesday
suggested that the state explore the possibility of
garnishing the religious organization's assets to
recoup the costs.

"That compound didn't grow out of fairy dust," state
Sen. Robert Deuell, R-Greenville, said after a Senate
Finance Committee hearing where he urged state health
officials to determine whether members of the
Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints (FLDS), or even the sect as a whole, be held
responsible for the cost of care. "Why should we be
footing the bill when they've got assets?"

The remarks came after the panel heard testimony that
providing foster care, Medicaid coverage and casework
for the children from the YFZ (Yearning For Zion)
Ranch will likely cost taxpayers more than $1.7
million a month for as long as they are in state
custody. The figure does not include the $5.3 million
for the first six weeks of the operation or the cost
of providing the required legal representation for
each child, which is likely to total at least $2.2
million.

The committee, which plays a lead role in drafting and
overseeing the state's budget, is exploring ways to
cover the near-term costs even though no money was
appropriated last year for such an event. Legislative
leaders and Gov. Rick Perry's office are expecting
that an emergency appropriation will be necessary when
lawmakers return to Austin in January, to ensure that
the state's bill for the operation are paid.

"We basically need to pay what it's going to cost to
do the job right, and we need to know, to the best of
your ability, what that cost is so we can factor that
in when we're making decisions about other worthwhile
costs and needs in this state," said Sen. Steve Ogden,
the Bryan Republican who chairs the finance panel.

Law enforcement officers and officials from Child
Protective Services rounded up the children from the
ranch in Eldorado after an anonymous caller claimed to
be a pregnant, abused 16-year-old forced into a
marriage with a 50-year-old. Officials now believe
that the call may have been a hoax.

But CPS workers have said that the children were in
imminent danger of abuse, and court hearings began
Monday in San Angelo in which many parents are seeking
to regain custody of the children.

Deuell said efforts should be made to determine
whether any of the children in foster care are covered
by the parents' private insurance. If so, he said, the
state would not have to enroll them in the
taxpayer-supported Medicaid program.

Albert Hawkins, the state's executive commissioner for
health and human services, said it was unclear whether
members of the sect have private insurance. He also
said that officials have found no evidence that anyone
from the sect is receiving any sort of public
assistance.

But even if the adults do have private insurance, the
children would still likely require Medicaid coverage,
Hawkins said, because DNA testing to determine
parentage is expected to take up to two months to
complete.

Rod Parker, a spokesman for the FLDS, said any effort
to seize assets belonging to the sect or to individual
members would be an overreach on the part of the
state.

"I think my response is to ask the state on what legal
grounds it believes it would be entitled to take FLDS
assets," Parker said in an e-mail to the
Star-Telegram. "This is a country of laws; they cannot
simply go after assets without legal basis."

John Moritz reports from the Star-Telegram's Austin
bureau, 512-476-4294.

If the mothers have good

If the mothers have good sense and hire a quality lawyer they will be able to Bslap the Tx govt for what has been done to them. And they should too....get every penny the govt has in Tx, maybe Tx will stop using communist tactics.

Are you all bumping this, thinking it's safe now ?

I would lay low with these FLDS threads when all the 'flag first, ask questions later' is going on.

Besides, their about to release the children (or is it Adults? - depends on what time it is, i guess).

Are we to expect up-to-the-minute updates on the FLDS lawsuit against the Texas CPS all the way to the March, State Conventions, National dates and beyond ?

When does this subject "END"? Can we get a time table for the FLDS thread withdrawal from DP ?

Look, I feel for them, I really do. But their winning court battles and have a massive legal team, ok, so it's looking brighter for the families.

I just honestly wonder sometimes how much damage this non-stop posting about this has done to the campaign. Although there is a possibility it may have gained some Romney supporters (i do believe that), the constant BOMBARDMENT here pushes aside actual RP news, politics,McCain, delegates, the march, the wars,,, you know...actual "Presidential" stuff. It's counter-productive. This does not mean that "we" don't care about them. Thats a technicality.

Do this: go to www.dailypaul.com and browse through the MAIN pages to remind yourselves what this site is about. How many are about the FLDS situation ? Exactly.

I'm begging you 7 to take this somewhere else.

btw - yes i did. it's only a matter of time anyway, so you might want to save this.

man I never realized how much money

Me and the government was really making at my job till now. only problem is its not in my pocket. Well at least we know which bank they put it in CPS credit union. Jobs follow the money. Looks like the only jobs left are government jobs. Get ready for you papers folks.

$25 billion dollar budget is maybe even a BIGGER story !!!

.

Folks,

It's getting to the point where the only jobs that will be available in the U.S. are prison guards, Wal-Mart greeters, and state/federal law-enforcement/bureaucrats.

You will HAVE to be evil - or represent evil - in order to make a living (not saying Wal-Mart greeters are evil, but they unknowingly partake in the downfall of our nation).

A $25 billion dollar ANNUAL budget? !?!?!?!?!

Folks, we have officially become a police-state.

It's not a matter of 'how do we stop it'.......................it 'already is'.

Also, consider that 45,000 employees is nearly 1/4 the size of the entire United States Marine Corps. All these employees are dedicated to deciding what is best for people, you and me.

And that's just one agency, in one state...

:(

That is freaking unbelievable.

Just incredible. How out of control can we get with the size of government????

they want the land!

unbelievable. Ok this has to be fought. would be nice to raise the money to buy the place from them and then let the FLDS sue the crap out of them. They only care about the land. Have to keep them form getting the land.! how do we fight this guys?

bachelors in bureaucracy

LOL. Yep, thats the kind of degree I'd go for! LOL. At least he was smart enough to realize that government is where the money is, and where the jobs are. Can't blame him for thinking ahead.

Holy cow

$25 billion annual budget? Oh man. And the legislature is talking about billing the FLDS about $28 million for their own kidnapping. That's 0.1% (one tenth of one percent) of Texas Social Service's budget. This is a massive, and might I dare say, bloated outfit, with some serious money to throw around at their enemies. Wow.

so copy them at least once a day....AS THEY ARE ALL GOOD INFORMATION.....FOR NOW AND SOON IN THE FUTURE...

Real nice..... :(

Thanks, J. I can't imagine why anyone would do that, unless they are communist anti-constitutionalists. If we find out who they are, we should call CPS on them.

Maybe I Can Help (a little)

I have some posts archived (since there's so much to follow in the FLDS story, I saved them for reading when I had the time). I don't know if they're part of the "missing posts", but I'll be happy to supply you with what I have if you want. Contact me via DP email.

Yeah..it happened last

Yeah..it happened last weekend.

That 'iReadtheconstipation' ha was sending threads around screamin' about FLDS post..'not related'...to RP.

Then, several got on his ignorant band wagon...and said...'flag'...I think so many flags auto deletes posts.

At any rate...it went on last weekend...and my big 300+ posts thread with all those resources was deleted--as I told earlier.

that's a terrible idea. Use strong language, but never, ever threaten a public official. Come on man, common sense.

I tend to agree

Fortune Favors the Bold

with calling him. I don't doubt Perry is testing the waters to see how people will react when the land grab for the TTC starts.

get on the phone I just

get on the phone
I just called, felt a little sorry for the young man that answered the phone. He sounded totally defeated.
I don't think they realized (or ever thought) that once people get the awakening to freedom we will not just stop with just our own states in helping with victory and defeats in elections.

Seems to me he is saying it

Seems to me he is saying it is okay to steal your neighbor's horse but after you steal that horse the rightful owner should still pay for its hay.

not quite rightt

3) Require parents not be allowed to go live in their very nice homes they built themselves, but instead to go on welfare and rent apartments, and get jobs flipping burgers

Do some research on this group before you defend them.

They view our government as the Devil [ok they may not be that wrong] HOWEVER, they believe they should ''Bleed the Devil'' as in take what ever they can and pocket it. It is estimated the church has over 100 million bucks in the bank.

What they do is have all the 2nd or ''spiritual'' wives file for welfare as single mothers. They also own a construction company that uses the FLDS members [and kids] to undercut other companies for government work.

There is a lot of information about this group out there.

Now I don't agree with CPS taking all those kids, but I do have a problem with kids younger than 16 being wed to older men for the purpose of making babies.

You had better hope you are not a male in there group, they have a history of kicking boys out of the sect and leaving them on the side of the road. They are called ''the Lost Boys''

Yes, an investigation should have been made, and NO, not all the children should have been removed.

Have you been following this story though?

Fortune Favors the Bold

Every day, the state keeps admitting more and more of the mothers are of legal age. The sect claims, when all is said and done, there are only about 3 or four underage mothers. Given the CPS' track record so far, I'm more inclined to believe the FLDS at this point.

you've got to not listen to

you've got to not listen to the mainstream media!

Pizza God

"Do some research on this group before I defend them?"

I've done my research. I *know* the FLDS people. I've been in their communities. My research has proven that the lies of a few disgruntled ex-members are not "the gospel truth" as you seem to think.

They do not "bleed the beast". No one on the ranch receives ANY welfare at all. That has been proven.

They do not marry off little girls to old men. The records seized from the ranch prove this also. No underage brides AT ALL listed in the records, which is why the state is holding ADULT women and claiming they are children. So far, though, "girls" aged 18, 19, 22, 25, 27, and 29 (!) have all successfully proven to a judge that they are not minors, even though CPS insisted they were.

As for being a male in their group? Hmmm. I know lots of males in the FLDS. You might want to do some research and read a blog, at http://fldsview.blogspot..... It is written by a man who is a Daily Paul member, and an ex-FLDS member. he left the FLDS church willingly, and still loves them and defends them, as he knows this crap (like what you wrote above) is all lies. But, then again, he is not selling a book, like the bitter ex-wives who spew the hateful propaganda that you have swallowed. And, think of this: if you want the truth about a man, is his ex-wife really going to be an objective source? If you want the truth about a man, is asking someone whom he fired from a job going to be an objective source?

Yes, I *have* done the research. We have been in fundamentalist Mormon homes. My children have played with their children. We have come to love fundamentalist Mormon people as fellow Saints and as people of good will who are following their religion. They are genuinely loving, caring parents, and as the CPS-hired psychologists have recently testified, they could stand to teach the outside world quite a bit about parenting. It has been testified by these psychologists that the mothers are model, textbook examples of parenting skills.

There is a LOT of disinformation out there about this group. Don't believe the lies. Check out that blog, fldsview.blogspot.com. Also, www.captivefldschildren.o..., and www.fldstruth.org. And, www.truthwillprevail.org.

Use your brain, Pizza God. Don't let the MSM do your thinking for you.

You're not right at all!

Did you read the full article?

"Albert Hawkins, the state's executive commissioner for
health and human services, said it was unclear whether
members of the sect have private insurance. He also
said that officials have found no evidence that anyone
from the sect is receiving any sort of public

That's right, officials have found no evidence that anyone from the church is receiving any sort of public assistance.

That's not something that is difficult to find out either, the government can pull it right up on their computers in a matter of seconds.

Get a clue.

And who will be left to

And who will be left to speak up when they come for you? I wonder what in your life style might offend your neighbors causing them to call in a complaint on you. Will you be able to defend yourself against anonymous calls or tips? I do not agree with some of their beliefs, but I do believe in the constitution. Can you even count the number of their rights that have been violated?
As a footnote, why does it matter to you that this community is (was, before the state decided to steal their assets and children) prosperous?

"These people never give up"/ CPS to search ranch AGAIN!!!

BREAKING NEWS 5-21-08:
Texas CPS to search for more children
at ranch; CPS admits more sect 'girls' are adults

Texas may have to ante up for lawyers in sect case

SAN ANGELO — As custody status hearings unfolded
concerning more than 400 children taken from a
polygamist sect’s ranch, a spokesman for the sect said
he heard state workers were on the way to the property
to search for more youngsters.

"We hear that CPS (Child Protective Services) is on
the way to the ranch to search for additional
children. These people never give up," said Rod
Parker, spokesman for the Fundamentalist Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, after a rush of
media vehicles left the courtroom parking lot and
headed toward the ranch near Eldorado.

Parker said he didn’t know of any additional children
at the ranch. A CPS spokesman didn’t have an immediate
comment.

The development came after more proceedings in which
more "girls" taken into custody by Texas Child
Protective Services convinced the agency they are
really adults, for a total of 10.

Oh my god! They're not going

Oh my god!

They're not going in ther to search for more children, they are just using it as an excuse to rummage through more personal things without a legal search warrant.

I just got here today, but I must leave and cool off...
