"20-something names and shames McCain in university speech"

I can't believe it! This made me cry, and not from laughter. I was completely suprised by the content, and was deeply MOVED by this 4.5 minute video.

You may be suprised as well.

Cool message...Lousy music...

It wrecks the message to hear some fool throw the drama tunes over this woman. She is cool and courageous, like we all need to be. The music sucks!!!

What an inspiration!

I just hope she isn't brainwashed by Obama rhetoric.

There is still hope,

Unedited version

From the video description

We turn now to what may have been the most controversial speech at a college campus this spring.

It occurred at the New School graduation ceremony in New York where Republican Senator John McCain gave the keynote address. McCain was invited to speak by New School President Bob Kerrey, the former Senator and longtime friend of McCain.

Nearly 1,000 people signed a petition urging Kerrey to rescind McCain's invitation. The protests continued even at the graduation ceremony when one of the student speakers directly confronted McCain over his support for war. The student was Jean Sara Rohe, a 21-year-old graduate from New Jersey.

* Jean Sara Rohe, speaking at the New School graduation ceremony.

Soon after Senator John McCain's chief of staff, Mark Salter, wrote a comment on the website HuffingtonPost.com attacking the student.

Salter wrote, "The only person you have succeeded in making look like an idiot is yourself." He went on to tell the student protesters: "You might look back on the day of your graduation and your discourtesy to a good and honest man with a little shame and the certain knowledge that it very unlikely any of you will ever possess one small fraction of the character of John McCain."

Tabacco: You have just read the words of one pompous ass. These people (I use the term loosely) have no shame and even less morality. John McCain left his "character" in Vietnam, or was it in Iraq!

too cool for words..... maybe tears though...

Thanks for this

I enjoyed this link much more. She may be a "progressive" but that's ok, I guess, she is young and right about what she had to say.

I just watched the video again with my daughter...

My daughter is 18 and will be starting school in fall at a prestigious Boston area University(hope I can afford it), and she has up until now been on the fence as to the Ron Paul ideals. My wife and son(16) have been with me on Ron Paul almost from the start of my journey.

But now, my daughter, sees the wisdom of Ron Paul's philosophy just by watching this video. Perhaps because the speaker is an 18 year old girl?

I don't know, but this video is very moving and inspirational. I did my best to hide my tears from my daughter, for this young woman in this video has more courage than I could ever wish to have.

But again, this only shows that the message, the TRUTH, is finally be realized by the general public, and not just by us hardcore revolutionaries.

We will prevail people, it is only a question of when.

Ya know,

I wish I had the courage or opportunity to make such a speech, though I doubt that I could do as well as that young lady. This was incredible, her speech and the audience applause gives me hope that the injustices of the current ruling elite will someday be swept away. We are right to support Ron Paul, he stands for Truth and Justice. It is now obivous to all, that the Neocons have sent us down the wrong track. We need to persevere, we must never relent, the tide is turning.

We are not a fad, we are Americans.

We are not crazy, we are the few sane people left in this country.

We will not be denied our Freedom, It is our God given right!

We will take back our country, We will never surrender to Lies or oppression.

The establishment is powerful, they have used every dirty trick in the book this election year, but guess what, we will overtake their party, because they are doomed to lose this year.

And when WE are the GOP, then WE will elect Ron Paul or a Ron Paul Candidate.

Freedom isn't Free people, We are in this for the long haul. Once exposed to Ron Paul's message, for me there is no going back, only foward to Truth and Constitutional Law.

But this is only my opinion.

Glad you changed your headline :)

I saw this thread earlier today and just had no intention of clicking on the link, given its original title. I see now that that was the title of the video itself (um, why?? Anyone figure that out?) and not your own title for the piece.

Like others here, I agree that the music is way too loud and distracting; thankfully, anyone who wants to "hear" this speech can go to the YouTube link given, hit the pause button, and just read the entire verbatim transcript provided on the video's site (click "more" in the right top sidebar).

A stirring, brave message. I, too, hope she has discovered the hope for America that Ron Paul represents.

Digg it.

"Victory for liberty! That is our goal, and nothing less. -- Ron Paul, December 17, 2007"

Courageous Gal!

That was a courageous speech, magnified by the fact (as I understand) that John McCain was there and scheduled to speak soon after!

How many Americans have that kind of courage? Do you? When have you spoken to power? Do you as an American free citizen, outside of the government, pay INTERNAL Revenue taxes? Are you afraid not to?

Do yourself, your country and other patruiots a favor and onvestigate why the IRS is called the INTERNAL Revenue Service. (hint: internal office memos are only for those in the service of and therefore under the jurisdiction of a particular organization. Duhh!

She is

a bad ass!

Get rid of that music

how distracting the music was. Made you feel dizzy and time warped.

She was great. I would like for her to have said one reassuring word about appreciating the service of our men.

I want to listen to her one more time to be sure she is not coming from the far left--but I can't go back to the music.

We need more people

with a functioning brain to become leaders!

A gutsy

little gal for sure.

Excellent video.

Thanks for posting it. That young woman showed great courage and is a fine example of what a true American should be.

That speech was awesome-

The music would have been nicer if it had been more in the background. I wonder if she realizes that Ron Paul is the only candidate who will keep his word to end the war? I hope so:)

I must admit the original

I must admit the original thread title was what got me to look! LOL

What is up with that title?

Awsome! Was Mcinsane there to hear it. Oh I hope so. Or at least got to hear it sometime. And Shame on you krmaya! That title gives me thoughts that cause horrific nausea. ewe nightmares

The title, although repulsive...

Is a marketing gimmick to get more people to view the video.

WOW What an amazing young

WOW What an amazing young woman! So many of these bright intelligent kids go the liberal politics route. I know I was one of them 25 yrs ago.I hope she finds the freedom movement. It's the only reason I wish RP was not under the bipartisan banner. Although I DO understand why.

Amen. PLS STICKY

Forgot to mention....

You may notice the "Democracy Now!" icon at the bottom of the vid. It is a show on FSTV, or Free Speech TV. Since I will no longer watch the PROGRAMMING offered by FCC-created network stations, I was refreshed to find that, and LINK, in the nether regions of our dish listings. SOOOO much better than lost, american idol, la law, or any of that other crap (less one third of the 20/20 shows) that is dumped into peoples living rooms. Really now, why is the home shopping network, and espn, listed so close to said junk networks, yet the good stuff is buried under about 80 channels, many of which don't even exist? Only the Shadow (government) knows....

Wow. Great Speech!

Wonder, if McCain was able to adjust his speech, lol.
But you should change the title of this post. Looks like a cheap eyecatcher and does not really merit this young lady.

Dr. Paul cured my apathy

Allright...

I'll change it. Whoever crafted the utube is who named it, I just copied it. But what should it be changed to? Mccain exposed? 20-something proves to be much smarter than a vet who was captured? Help!
