New York Times: Ron Paul and EPIC Photos
Wow, did you all see this New York Times article? The pictures (slide show below) are nearly National Geographic quality, really...check it out.
Here is the article:
http://www.nytimes.com/20...
A YEAR ago, Leon Lim, a 35-year-old doctoral student in Sanskrit from Dayton, Ohio, decided with his wife, Ranjani Powers, a yoga instructor, to head off to Bali, or India, or anywhere, really, just “somewhere very far away” — from the Iraq war, the Patriot Act and the tanking dollar, Mr. Lim said.
“We were just so disillusioned with the way everything was going,” explained the shaven-headed Mr. Lim, who wore a gold hoop earring in each ear. The couple had supported Ralph Nader in 2000, Ms. Powers said, but had since “given up on America.”
But they found an unlikely reason to stay: Ron Paul, the libertarian Republican congressman from Texas who continues to run for president, even months after Senator John McCain has essentially sewn up the nomination....

Funny thing----
The pictures in the slideshow don't depict the description of Ron Paul fans reported in the article!
I attended the Ron Paul event in Caldwell, Idaho in April, and there were very few 60's hippies present. (not that it matters---we all love LIBERTY)
Bear in mind that this is 40 years later---the young people that are Ron Paul fans weren't even born yet! The 60's hippies are now grandparents, and we are ALL concerned about the mess we have allowed to happen that will be inherited by our children and grandchildren.
THATS MY POSTER!!! GOOD JOB
THATS MY POSTER!!! GOOD JOB PEACHY!
Appreciated the coverage.
Appreciated the coverage. The photos were great and the cameraman worked hard during the rally from what I saw. Did not like the article. Trying to pin RP supporters into a group, when in fact we are across all lines. How bout the comment of most supporters being liberal?
Liked the photos
Hated the comments
Is it too much to ask to acknowledge the message of Ron Paul rather than harp on misconceptions about diversity within the movement?
Well, no I guess not, this is lamestream media after all and if one iota of thought goes into an article its destroyed by the brainless editors.
"believers...gated
"believers...gated community...Texas"?? This is just a smear to deter new people from getting to know the real message.
BoouYaa!
Carry on fellow patriots, ours is a just cause.
McCain Campaign in troubleigh
The Ron Paul photos are great! Hey, is the NYT softening up? An article in this same issue that features the photos goes into some detail about how the McCain campaign officials are having a bit of trouble and confusion... the neoconned Republicans are very clever, but not very intelligent (there is a difference). I would not be surprised if the McCain outfit goes down in flames before the RNC.
the NYT is not softening up.
the NYT is not softening up. They have just shifted from the mode of getting the most liberal Repubican nominee to trying to pick the most liberal of the general election candidates. Everything they do is with that agenda in mind.
I thought that article was
I thought that article was HORRID. The only thing I liked was its length. The words used were terribly marginalizing. Libertarian, utopian, movement..trying to fit you all into our failed "hippie-peace" category. Made us all sound like a bunch of "fringe" on the fabric of sanity. I am sick of their techniques. You should sue them for posting your picture with no payment. Talked about tattered clothes and beards, and just about anything that would invoke thoughts of the dreaded hippies. It really made me mad, and the quotes on the pictures just reinforced it...
Need a little inspiration?
See this article. Thanks radio..

THATS ME
I'm the girl screaming --with the poster!!!!!
WOW really nice article,I
WOW really nice article,I caught a couple subtle digs but I'm overly sensitive when it comes to the Old media talking about the Good DR. I do wonder why they're being nice. I got the same feeling when my kids were teenagers and wanted to borrow money.... I admit it I'm cynical but still appreciative!
A Couple of Subtle Digs?
"a subculture of disenfranchised young people embraced an unorthodox philosophy built around a utopian ideal of freedom."
How subtle is that? I only have one thing to say to the New York Slimes, YOU AIN"T SEEN NOTHING YET!
it SUCKED! Trying to show
it SUCKED! Trying to show Americans how freedom is a utopian ideal, etc., etc. ...SHEESH
Great article
We must elect him. Gotta get to those democrats.
"National Geographic quality" - I concur.
Read this line: "Attendance at Ron Paul campaign stops has nearly returned to pre-Super Tuesday levels."
Sahweeet.
Everyone should have a browse through and read the captions.
