Lisbon Treaty - Ireland decides

Having grown up in Ireland (Drogheda) I can tell you I have seen Ireland grow and prosper - from the days of socialism when RTE owned all media, to today with Capitalism and prosperity. The Lisbon Treaty will be a step back in the direction of socialism and lead to a loss of freedom and prosperity. Keep the Irish tradition alive and fight for freedom.

Terrible propaganda in the paper today, the Irish Independent. "Unemployment is way up! The dole queue's are rising! And many fear a No vote will make this worse". I didn't spend a lot of time reading it so I can't really say for sure but it seemed all pushing for the Yes vote in that paper. And a big advertisement for a Yes vote.

Punjabimuda is right. It is incoherent. I think it is probably designed that way.....

Come on Irish! My roots are from there and I pray that you make the wise decision. Don't let the French or any other EU super power come and threaten you, don't disappoint yourselves. I'm not surprised that the left-wing parties are supporting "Yes" because they want to try and kill capitalism so they see it as an anti-capitalist vote. Please show that freedom doesn't have a specific place on the political spectrum and there are Freedom Fighters on the left, right and in the middle. And if it gets dirty, fight clean and tough, don't be afraid to stand up to them. I'm proud to have Irish blood and you have my 100% support because you'll need every ounce of enthusiasm. Outscore Yes big time tomorrow!!!

You and your fellow Irish Patriots should stand true to your proud history of fighting against tyranny! Tell all you countrymen we support them in saying no to this fascist treaty because that's what it is despite the pretty dress and lipstick they try to put on it!

And I heard on Sunday that the No vote had risen 6 points to 34 or 36 while the Yes is still on 42. Also, on Sunday there was a plane flying round Dublin with "Don't score an own goal (don't score a point against yourself), Vote Yes". And I had two people try to give me "vote Yes" leaflets. I wonder who is paying for that? If the EU 'pays'?

The Yes signs outnumber the No signs by about 2:1 although I saw more No signs had been put up yesterday (they are everywhere on the streetlight poles) and several had been ripped off (No signs only) and were on the ground or just torn. Those were the paper ones, the thicker cardboard ones were still up, although some had been folded in half, trying to hide it. Dirty tricks! I saw one Yes sign that had been written on.

The socialist and labour parties are encouraging a Yes vote and Sinn Fein (political part of the IRA or maybe less closely associated than that, I don't really know) are encouraging a No vote. And the other No signs don't seem to have names on them. One says 'People died for your freedom'.

I did see some people yesterday holding No signs and signs about Raytheon and the massacre at Qana in Lebanon in 1996. What this has to do with the EU is beyond me.

The freedom lovers of the world must help one another out, stick together and stay strong...

Would you sign a contract that you didn't understand or seemed to be less than clear to you on purpose? This is how they have been able to enslave us with catch phrases that sound wonderful but before you sign up you better read the proposal even the fine print. Peace

THE LISBON Treaty could face a shock rejection with the No side now in the lead, according to the findings of the latest Irish Times /TNS mrbi poll.

It will take an unprecedented swing in the last week of the campaign for the treaty to be carried.

The poll shows the number of people intending to vote No has almost doubled to 35 per cent (up 17 points) since the last poll three weeks ago, while the number of the Yes side has declined to 30 per cent (down 5 points).

The number of undecided voters is still a significant 28 per cent (down 12 points) while 7 per cent won't vote.

If Ireland votes no, then it will block the EU power grab and bring the whole debacle under question.

If they vote yes, then the other 26 States will be locked into this new union without the consent of the people. Once they realize how quickly the police state and big brother state is growing up around them, they will be likely to begin fighting against the EU.

Furthermore, the disaterous consequences of letting the EU take this power grab will persuade tons of Americans that if something like that should ever happen here we must fight it tooth and nail.

These elites are men of flesh and blood. What they are attempting to do is incredibly difficult for them, they have to be super cautious. They WILL make mistakes, and they WILL be exposed. The more they grab at power, the worse the blowback is going to be.

It is exactly the same as the constitution the Dutch (which I am) and French voted NO on. In many polls 80% of all the European people want a referendum and they are being ignored one because they are too chicken to let the people decide. In Ireland they wanted to stop it, but becuase you still have some independent forces in your country, that was not possible.

* It's undemocratic;
* It is constitutional, and certainly not people friendly either;
* The freedoms's of the people will be severely less;
* Those in power in the EU already misused their power, and more is to come;
* Money is getting awfully wasted;
* The constitution is written to be totally unreadable (hint: no prime-minister has ever read it!);
* Open borders don't account criminality, mafia, poverty, country's employment status;
* The treaty ain't all that green;
* And because your (any participating) country (uh, state) will NEVER be allowed to quit from this pact;

I don't know anything about the Lisbon Treaty, but when I see so many fellow RP supporters boo-ing it down like this, I know it's gotta smell like yesterday's diapers.

here in Poland true patriots know, that enlarging its influences EU bEUROcracy means nothing good. Ireland, you are small country but luckily our last chance. Please, save the Europe!

That treaty will further a disaster that’s been brewing since before the Union of Europe was formed. Whoever casts a yes vote will be partially responsible for the perpetuation of socialist ideology as well as the negative consequences.
