I understand your concerns. Please check out the website www.havetrunkwilltravel.c... . They are committed to conserving the Elephant Species and have very capable and caring handlers. I believe generalizing the known acts of some immoral people to others who work in the same field is stereotyping a person. In my view the group is not the same as the individual.
My vision is just to have an elephant for Ron Paul at the Convention. I think he deserves the mascot of his party at the convention and the supporters deserve to know that they represent the true values of the Republican Party and the american ideal. So, no tricks or acts, just the awe inspiring prescence of a giant pachyderm to lighten the mood.
However humble, my ambition probably outstrips my ability as I am already strapped for time. This operation, without more support, will likely fall to the "what might have been" category.

If Blackmira wants to bump this post with more fearful, hatemongering then so be it, but it is a poor substitute for actual facts.

I have studied animals in captivity for the past 20 years and I am looking out for their welfare and people's safety. I don't know where you got the idea that animal sanctuaries "rent" out their elephants.

You want to know about ideas? How about going out every weekend and handing out free DVDs and Ron Paul flyers in your city, talking to hundreds of people for the past 3 months?

Who's denying you to have "ideas"? How about having some ideas without any blowback to them or that more than a few people that have knowledge about captive animals aren't telling you WHY it's a really bad idea?

St. Paul area that could help figure out how to make this happen or someone who could talk to headquarters and someone who needs to talk to the elephant handlers to see if this is even feasible. Let's get this right.

Lead, follow or get out of the way. If people get behind this idea, then great if not then nothing will happen. All you people without ideas stay home.

This is what this movement has been overcome with-a bunch of snivelling, miserable retches who can't lift a finger to save their own lives. It's sick and pathetic to deny a person the right to have an idea.

I feel sorry for all the people who cannot and will not open their minds to the possibilites we all have in this movement. Are we not made to act, not to sit on our hands?

Then someone suddenly, after seeing the poster, decided Dr. Paul should ride the elephant. NOT. The elephant, well controlled is a cute idea, assuming these elephants are as pampered as they seem to be on their website. Any idea of anyone getting ON the elephant takes the idea to circus level and loses any appeal of the idea of a mascot.

But the poster is really cute and I would like to have one. The maker of the poster did not suggest that Dr. Paul or anyone else should/would "ride" the elephant. That idea just came out of left field from "someone's" sense of fun.

The elephant doesn't have to be "in" the crowd. It does not have to lead the walking march. It does not have to lead a parade. We are there for a very, very serious reason and getting too caught up in frivolity could throw us off. But an elephant mascot at the Republican Convention could start a whole new tradition. Just be certain to keep it out of frantic crowds.

Greenbean. It's right up there with green hair. Not very professional for a Presidential campaign.

Why do you keep pushing your agenda? There are other alternatives to having live animals in crowds and you're assuming Ron Paul would even go along with such a ridiculous and dangerous gimmick.

Read up on elephants going on rampages in crowds and then you'll understand what you are suggesting is insane and selfish. No need to turn this Revolution into a circus.

The picture is absolutely great and should go viral. The Hannibal discussion was real fun! Bring an elephant to the convention, but don't put the good doctor on an elephant for real. It's a nice image, but in reality it looks insipid.

If it were well done would be a lot of fun and motivating. It makes more sense in walking into a trap and having our asses tased.

Excitement is whats needed to bring our own Ron Paul supporters to the march. The bigger the march the better. Out of box thinking has been a blessing for this movement. Please keep up the good work

Yes, the force will be out with tasers and if the elephant runs because of some instigators well, hopefully the elephant takes a few of them out. Just kidding.
