Denver CD1 Convention - Ron Paul Delegate Escorted Out by Cops
We'll be posting the video this weekend but essentially one Ron Paul CD1 Delegate was kicked out by three police officers on orders from Harry Arkin, the Denver GOP attorney.
Plus the Denver GOP decided to use Scantron machines to count the 150-ish ballots. More details later with the video.
Also please remember to donate $25 or anything to Murray Sabrin. His primary is June 3rd and anything you donate now helps to abolish the FED. Donate now at http://murraysabrin.com

disgusting
Troublemaker or statesman?
A lot of the McCain delegates (not the insiders, but rather the everyday true believers) thought M was just a troublemaker, just trying to show off or make a name for himself. They didn't understand that the real battle lies in the rule-making, as we have seen in other states.
Arkin was deftly manipulating such popular opinion through his body language and tone of voice in the way he was belittling M.
haha.. the guy at the end
haha.. the guy at the end cracked me up. How funny for some seventy something year old man to stick his tongue out at me like a 3 year old kid. People like that in the GOP and it's no wonder it's going downhill.
Short unedited VIDEO
Here is a short, unedited video of this particular spectacle. I was the other delegate who was threatened to be removed if I wasn't quite. I attempted to thwart the removal of the R.P. delegate by asking that the people with guns be removed from the premises but I wasn't being heard. The person who was escorted out was our parliamentarian and he was the person who was most knowledgeable with the by-laws and RROO.
We should have at least secured 3 alternate spots last night. IF ONLY all of our people would have shown up. About 20 of the RP delegates as well as 1 of the persons on our slate did not show. ALL of the alternate slots were filled. The neocons had the majority and it was obvious last night. LEARN PEOPLE!! 95% of winning is just showing up. Had all of our delegates shown up then we would have had a better showing.
Ron Paul was well represented. There were Ron Paul signs all around the school and surrounding the block around the school.
Sorry my video is so short. Blame Sony for sucking batteries and for bad sound quality. I will attempt to stitch together a video of the nights events and post it, but until then... Here ya go.
Ryan (who also posts here) also was in the crowd recording. He was able to get the entire convention on one video (as opposed to me), so be on the lookout for his video as well.
And while I'm waiting for the video to upload... The delegate was removed for making a Parliamentary inquiry in regard to another delegates motion to not use scantron.
Also, the officers who were at the event; prior to the start of the event one over zealous cop was walking around and conducted a search of one of the Ron Paul delegates backpack. I never saw the cop ask if he could search it as it looked like he just grabbed the bag and started looking. I've got a couple of photos and a very short video of that as well but as soon as I walked up with the camera he quit searching. I'll post links to those pics.

Get familiar with the RNC rules!
For all of you asking for details about the rules, there on the gop.org website, are listed all rules that all states must follow. If you have time to read these forums, you have time to read those rules. It's your responsibility.
Just read the RP hate list.
Just read the RP hate list. Folks, welcome to communism. Where the individual exists for the sake and well being of the state and it's apparatchiks.

They were spoiling for a fight
There were two highly visible uniformed officers there, for just a couple of hundred people. I don't recall seeing any officers at the Denver County convention two months at that same location, at which several hundred people, perhaps nearly a thousand, attended.
The rumors before the CD1 (U.S. House congressional district #1 in Colorado) convention last night were that the GOP leadership was drafting rules in secret to thwart the Ron Paul delegates. Not only were rules not available beforehand, except to the Ron Paul delegate who was ejected by the officers (who must have insisted upon them prior to the CD1 convention), they were not even handed out on paper at the convention, but rather read orally!
The Ron Paul delegate who was objecting, whom I'll call M because I'm not 100% sure of his name (I have not had the ability to attend Ron Paul meetings in Denver in person, so I don't know everyone's name and what they look like), raised objections to half a dozen out of the 19 or so rules. Every time M stood up to raise an objection, point of order, or make a motion, all according to the Roberts Rules of Order, a copy of which he was carrying and constantly referring to, Harry Arkin would belligerantly try to show who was in control of the meeting. He would say something like, "you are not recognized" or "raise your hand and let the chair recognize you". He was eager to give out warnings to M, "I will have you removed" and "this is the final warning before I have you removed." He gave out such a warning to a second Ron Paul supporter as well, when that supporter questioned the legality of the rent-a-cops carrying firearms in the facility, which happened to be a public middle school.
Having only heard the rules read out loud, I had no way to analyze the language on the spot myself. I went in to the convention expecting that the local GOP leadership would try to make the vote all-or-nothing, i.e. all McCain delegates elected or all Ron Paul delegates elected (as has happened in other states). Thus, when one rule stated something to the effect "no proportional voting", I became even more worried. But I didn't know what it meant and I still don't know what it means.
Thus I was pleased that M was strenuously objecting to the rules. M objected to a half dozen specific rules, asked that the remaining unobjected rules be passed as a block, and asked that the objected rules be considered one by one. At that point, Joy Wood asked that in the interest of time and minimizing facility rental fees that the entire set of rules be passed up or down as a block. That motion carried, and was voted 91 out of 151 (or 153, I don't remember).
Then came the critical part. M discovered in his Roberts Rules of Order book that if the normal course of action of considering rules individually is not taken, but that rather rules are passed as a block, that it requires a two-thirds majority. Arkin and the "parliamentary expert" he was consulting with confirmed what M asserted. But then Arkin said that according to Roberts Rules of Order, the chair can suspend any rule from Roberts Rules of Order he chooses and suspended that one, and allowed the simple majority to stand.
I don't know what impact the rules had, and I don't even know the results of the ballots as I had to leave early. But the local GOP came prepared to battle the Ron Paul people by:
Someone also had distributed to every seat a hate list of Ron Paul supporters. I scanned in a copy here:

How is the chair able to
How is the chair able to suspend rules? If that is the case, doesn't it mean the chair is virtually a dictator?
More importantly
How is the chair able to suspend rules regarding rule-making?
Pay attention Colorado..we
Pay attention Colorado..we need to do something about this..first thing...today and tomorrow.
Because he kept objecting
Because he kept objecting and using Roberts Rules of Order.
Will post more details later.
booted for following RROO
The person who was asked to leave has said that inside the hall, the rules were not properly approved. Potentially this could set up a challenge at National with the argument that everything in CD1 (Denver) is void because the rules were not approved.
details?
details?
Could you please tell us
Could you please tell us what happened? I want to know before the conventions.
Liberty Girl
It's simple
The chairman is an insecure jerk who has to build himself up by pretending he's more important than he really is by insisting he's the only one who can make the rules. Don't worry about it, and see my post below.

I can't stand it. Why did they escort him out? See what I mean..I am going to end up in Jail.
HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING?
You are not going to end up
You are not going to end up in jail, for if you do my rag tag band of merry liberty lovers and I will personally bust you out of there. Heaven help those tyrants if they ever cross paths with me! Mwuhahaha!
It's O.K.
No, he didn't end up in jail. That was just an empty threat. I know you're upset, so am I, but please come to the state convention and vote, even if you feel you can't speak. You can opt not to speak, but we need every possible voter. You've come this far, so please just follow through, in a few days it will be June and you can take a deep breath and relax a while.
Why need some machines to count only 150????
Could you please write something about Murray.

Because some of us got left
Because some of us got left off of the ballots so they couldn't use the electronic ballots, so they said. Now they have the other ones. I don't trust any one of them anymore.
