Nevada Republicans to Reconvene Nevada State Republican Convention on June 28th.
RENO, NV, 5/30/08--- Nevada Republicans have decided to reconvene the Nevada State Convention at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno on June 28th. The Nevada Republicans say that the State Party has made no move to reconvene and has refused a turn-key convention offer from a local donor.
“The State Party has really left us with no other option,” said Wayne Terhune, a local Republican activist who made the turn-key convention offer to the Party. “We feel the Nevada delegates deserve the chance to have their voices heard and finish this Convention process. The State Party has not followed through with their promises to reconvene, and it has been over five weeks. The Party kept telling us they would reconvene, first in a week, then in two weeks, then in June, and then maybe July. But there doesn’t appear to be any real plans to reconvene, and the delegates have a right to get together and complete the Convention.”
The Nevada State Republican Convention was abruptly recessed on the evening of April 26th. National delegates had been selected from Congressional Districts 1 and 3, and votes were still being counted from Congressional District 2. National at-large delegates had not been selected when the Convention was recessed. The Nevada State GOP has indicated they are working on a venue but have yet to schedule the Convention, despite having five weeks to do so.
In order for the Convention to reconvene, a quorum (a simple majority) of credentialed delegates must be present. If the quorum is present, all business can be conducted, including the selection of national delegates and passing resolutions.
“This isn’t about one candidate versus another,” said Pat Kerby, a Nevada State delegate from Nye County. “This is about credentialed Nevada State delegates getting together to form a quorum and finish the business of the State Convention.”
The Republican activists reconvening the State Convention are all credentialed state delegates from the State Convention on April 26th, and are inviting every credentialed state delegate to come and have their voice heard on June 28th. “We intend to do this right,” said Wayne Terhune. “Everyone will have a fair chance at this reconvening. We think our chances of getting a quorum are excellent, because so many Republicans want to get this process completed. This is our chance to get this done right.”

and that's when they walked out of their own Convention. I figured they are humble now and really want to finish the business in a fairer fashion ;-)

if they ve consented to reconvene, its only because they feel confident they can defeat you. i picture them using every dirty trick in the book and a heavy police presence to initimidate you. i doubt i need to tell any of the Nevada delegates to know the rules backwards and forwards and to remember you are not dealing with people of integrity there. you have to anticipate anything and out smart them once again. good luck to you all, you certainly have my respect.

The official Nevada Republican Party has not consented to reconvene. We the People are telling them that we are reconvening and if they want to attend they are welcome. We are asking for all the McCain delegates to be there also. This is a grassroots, ground up Revolution!

The NV GOP leadership have consented to nothing that I am aware of. The nevada4ronpual people....the delegates of Nevada...the true Republicans are going to get in there and finish the job. We've been waiting and waiting, but no word of the date or venue from the leadership. I doubt right now if they are confident of anything and never fear, we are aware of the dirty tricks. "They" didn't do as they promised, that is reconvene in a timely fashion, so we are going ahead. There are very smart and dedicated Ron Paul supporters, like Wayne Terhune, the venue donor, involved here, plus oh so many others. The bottom line is the State GOP didn't get on the stick, so many Ron Paul supports did and we, the delegates (all 1300+) hopefully, will go back and conclude the convention.

Send the announcement certfied mail . Also send a certifies statement to the RNC. Cover your bases!
All Nevada credentialed state delegate
should make every attempt to go and finish the business.
Careful ....
You might need to follow up with notices in all the major newspapers of record in the state. It sure wouldn't do to have folks complain that they never got word of this reconvened convention.
Then again, if you can communicate directly with all delegates, you're definitely covered.

The Press Release
The press seems to have been covered, at least up here in Northern Nevada. I've seen this story on all of the major TV stations, as well as KKOH....can't watch/listen to them all at once! By tomorrow, my guess would be that anyone who hasn't heard does not watch TV or listen to the radio. Again, if you know anyone in Nevada, make them aware, please.
