Ron Paul's performance, in some of the debates, did leave people seeing him as weak on defense. There is no doubt about it. His foreign policy advice is great, but, it could have been worded to make him sound strong on defense so as not to worry voters.

Barr has learned from Paul's mistakes. You have to keep talking about wanting a strong national defense, so that people don't get worried that you're a pacifist. I know Paul is not a pacifist but he sounded that way to a lot of people because he wasn't very adroit at getting his message to the general public across unless they're paying really close attention and are smart enough to put the pieces together. Paul has a great foreign policy, but I don't think he was very good at communicating it in debates in a way for the average Joe to understand and feel comfortable with.
How can you say
Ron Paul didn't do a good job of explaining his foriegn policy in the debates? He wasn't given enough time to say hardly anything when he was constantly having to defend himself against stupid questions from the so called "moderators". So don't sit there and say it's Ron Pauls fault that people don't understand his foriegn policy!!! It sounds like you've never even watched a full debate.
"Ron Pauls performance", Ron Paul performed great and I am very proud of him. He showed great courage to stand up there and tell the truth in front of all those assholes and he has more understanding and intergrity than Barr could dream of. organizations are only as good as the people that lead them
I have a saying, "organization no matter how big or small is only as good as the men/women that lead it". You could have the greatest organization on earth but if you let an ambitious, power hungry, greedy, arrogant, ignorant, (insert immoral adjective here), etc.. individual have any amount of influence it will make the entire organization illegitimate in due course.
Specifically speaking of Mr. Root here as his demeanor as a status quo politician is completely destroying the image of the Libertarian Party. I guess that's a double-edge sword though. You can't go around pre-screening candidates for moral value otherwise that would run the risk of turning fascist at the drop of a hat as we are seeing in our current "republicrat" system.
The only way that truth and honor can be restored is to guarantee honest, transparent, and precise voting process which is approved by a majority of the populace. People are also dependable to make the correct decision when they have all pertinent information as well as 100% truthful information. That comes down to the mass media and frankly our current media is about as reliable to do the wrong thing as a crack head on a street corner.

Actually, I think you can screen candidates for some degree of moral purity. And I think it's a good idea.
For example, the candidates of the Libertarian Party should have to pass a constitutional litmus test...at least orally. If they are going to debate or interview, they should be asked questions about the Bill of Rights, the general welfare clause, etc.
Actually that would never pass muster in the LP, because I don't think they take the US Constitution seriously.
