*** 6 State Conventions this weekend. Did we get any delegates? *** Here's our next Move

I've been checking posts and reading the Daily Dose. As far as I can tell, we got no new delegates this weekend. Some of these states looked quite favorable going into this weekend. Can anyone report new delegates for Ron Paul from this weekend's state conventions?

I appreciate and respect all the work from you RP supporters. I was disappointed with the results in my state too. I'm assemblying the addresses of the elected national delegates, and I'm planning a series of letters, invitations to lunch - my treat, and an overall charm offensive!

Make contact with these national delegates with a handshake. Get full names. Google them for home addresses and stay in touch.

I was an "old gaurd" Republican only 7 months ago. I believe in exposing these national delegates to the principals of conservativism and liberty.

Well,

I think we should get all the names of these people involved in putting this slate out, and also all the names that are on that slate, and make a list to ensure we oppose any of those people at every possible opportunity in the future.

We're "making a list, and checking it twice............" da da da.

Thanks for the good news

Thanks for the good news Colorado and Washington.

Anyone else? Virginia, Missouri, Minnesota, Wyoming?

Colorado CD and State Conventions

If I hadn't seen it first hand, I wouldn't have believed it. At the CD level "hit lists" had been printed naming all the Ron Paul delegates and they were placed on every chair. It read, "RON PAUL SUPPORTERS PLAN TO DISRUPT THE GOP NOMINATING CONVENTION. 'Quietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Ron Paul have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against the party when Republicans gather for their national convention in St. Paul at the beginning of September'. (no source sited for the quote) Then, all our names were listed, with a post comment that "there may be more supporters running for National Delegate who have not be identified. Help ensure a UNIFIED CONVENTION by VOTING only for those candidates you know." Our people spoke with fervor and courtesy, but NOT ONE single delegate was elected. The "Unity Ticket" swept the balloting.

The Colorado State Convention was more of the same, but the "hit lists" were not allowed into the delegate packets. Instead, people were distributing them outside until we complained and got the people removed. There was really no reason for a hit list at State because we were out in the open with our matching shirts, signs, and RP slate. Both the t-shirts and printed slates were in a matching marigold color to honor the gold standard and financial policy of our good doctor. The RP slates were included in all the delegate bags, thanks to hard working volunteers, so we were not being stealth. You would all have been so proud of your Colorado delegates. I've never seen such a group of devoted, enthusiastic, well-spoken, knowledgeable grass-roots patriots. In the face of derision and hateful comments we all just kept our positive stance, always cheering and waving when our core principles were addressed, no matter who was delivering the message. I can't say the same for the McCain camp. Despite petitioning the Colorado GOP numerous times in the last months, our state Ron Paul representative was not allowed to speak. After Mitt Romney finished his pitch for John McCain in a speech filled with "Islamic Jihadist" comments, one of our delegates from the floor again asked, in proper parliamentary form, to allow 5 minutes to hear from the Ron Paul representative. He was declared out of order. Someone else rephrased it and it came to a vocal vote, and then to a standing vote and was defeated. Many "regular" Republicans around me were befuddled, saying, "why shouldn't he have a chance to speak also? This isn't what we are about." But the insider party faithful ruled the day.
Here are two of the saddest events of the day. When delegates were allowed to walk across the stage and speak for 15 seconds, one delegate identified himself as a Disabled Veteran who had done a tour in Afganistan, and 2 tours in Iraq. He said that when he went over he thought he was fighting for our country, he didn't know he was just fighting for oil. Then he said, "we just want to come home". The McCain crowd BOOED him. (I've cried all night about this) They "booed" a disabled veteran who has done 3 tours in the middle east. This is how they support the troops? Shameful!!
The second incident happened when they introduced the Colorado Young Republicans, who took the stage in matching red shirts, and did a clever commentary on "NOBAMA" and "BILLARY". One of the young women held up a sign that said "End the War" and she was physically dragged off the stage. She was no more than 17 or 18 years old. No freedom of speech unless you are agreeing with the party line. Late last night we received a wonderful letter from another "Young Republican" who said that she was very impressed with the way Ron Paul supporters steadfastly promoted their candidate in the face of ridicule and mud-slinging. She said her eyes had been opened to how the system was working and that the RP supporters had been an inspiration to her. She said she was sorry that we had been treated so poorly when it was clearly undeserved.
We had many traditional Republicans come up to our table afterwards and apologize to our State Coordinator about what had happened with regards to being denied the chance to speak. One woman had McCain stickers all over her, but was in tears about the injustice of the incident she had witnessed. Maybe some are starting to wake up to the tyranny of the party they hold allegiance with.
The end result was that after months and months of hard work (you all know because you do it too in your own states) we did NOT get any delegates elected, neither did we receive any alternate positions. As disheartening as this is, I must say that in many ways it was also the proudest day of my life. Our delegates conducted themselves with dignity, integrity and devotion. A victory in and of itself.
Bless us all in our continued effort for freedom.

so others may know what I am

so others may know what I am posting... Bob Schaffer is running for Tom Tancredos congressional seat.. I was ready to vote for him even tho I was going to cast a protest vote for the CP or LP party. After listening to Schaffer i was ready to vote for him! When I found out that WADhams was his campaign manager I thought screw em! I am back to the protest vote now! I hope my other Fellow Colorado Ron Paul delegates will think about doing this.. All we asked for was 5 minutes to talk about Ron Paul! the voting for delegates was over, It would not have changed the results.. SO MUCH FOR UNITY WADHAMS YOU MORON! now I have this new Schaffer for senate tshirt... guess i'll cut it up and use if for gun cleaning patches lol!!!

as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD

Apparently you missed the action!

We here in Washington state managed to get 4 delegates and 6 alternates in spite of everything!

I'm confused

I thought there was some kind of rule that said all delegates had to be approved by McCain's representative.
What gives?

So in essence that would

So in essence that would mean that 1 single person gets to dictate who represents Washington State? That's ridiculous. If that is a real rule it should be squashed immediately.

I don't know...

But I do know we had two congressional districts that had a majority of RP people and were able to overwhelm some of the shenanigans.

I got the same impression.

Our state convention (Iowa) is next week. Friday night we will have our district conventions and that is our best chance to gain some delegates (each district elects three). The next day we will be presented with a slate of delegates to be elected "at large" and they will have been selected by the central state nominating committee. This vote is a foregone conclusion and the slate will be McCain supporters, I'm sure.

Unfortunately most of the states' rules are set up to make the delegate selection process very "predictable" (ie. controllable) by the GOP central committees. If we don't know going in that we have the numbers to elect a certain number of delegates, then we probably won't.

DVD 4 Delegates project

Take heart!

If you were a chosen delegate committed on the first ballot to vote for either McCain or Romney, but really didn't like either one, perhaps found either to not be consistently conservative enough, or didn't agree with their positions on withdrawal of our troops from around the world, or disturbed that neither has a realistic plan to deal with the Federal Budget, entitlement programs, the Federal Reserve which is inflating the currency, the drop in the dollar, immigration issue, the list goes on...

MIght you be willing to watch a DVD which made you aware of a viable alternative who stood for what you believe in.

IT happened in Alaska as Ron Paul delegates created a DVD to send to their fellow Alaska delegates chosen for McCain or Romney or Huckabee. Many watched the DVD addressed to them by fellow delegates from Alaska and learned more about Ron Paul than they knew from the MSM, (main stream media) or the official debates.

Many converted! Thus there is still a way open to change minds and perhaps inspire them as we have been inspired.

An opportunity may arise to help make it a reality.

Ron Paul supporters are more tenacious than a certain power lusting female candidate.
