Lawmaker asks McCain to talk with 9/11 theorists

An Arizona state senator is petitioning presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain to meet with 9/11 conspiracy theorists, including an adjunct professor from Scottsdale who has been fasting outside McCain's Phoenix office for more than a week.
State Sen. Karen Johnson, a Mesa Republican, delivered a letter to McCain's Senate office Tuesday asking that he sit down with Scottsdale activist Blair Gadsby and a pair of leading members of the 9/11 Truth Movement to consider alternative explanations for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the collapse of the World Trade Center towers. Gadsby's fast outside McCain's Senate office entered its 10th day today.
"There are so many questions left unanswered," said Johnson, who called for a new, independent investigation into the attacks.
She has previously been the focus of media attention for her vocal misgivings about the government account of 9/11. Again Tuesday, she said, "There's no explanation - no legitimate explanation - about why those towers and Building 7 came down."
WTC 7 was the third building to collapse at the complex, though it wasn't directly struck by either aircraft.
Gadsby said he'll maintain his office vigil until McCain pledges to sit down with him, Richard Gage, founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, and Steven Jones, a physicist who claims to have done laboratory analysis and found evidence of explosives in the WTC rubble. Their conditions: a pledge of two hours with McCain, plus national media coverage.
Gadsby, an adjunct community college professor, said he's been told by McCain staffers that the senator is too busy to meet. The Republic had no luck Tuesday reaching representatives of either McCain's Senate office or presidential campaign. But he appears unsympathetic to 9/11 conspiracy theorists, and occasionally has sparred with them on the campaign trail over the past year.
He also wrote the foreword to a 2006 book titled Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up to the Facts. It was written by the editors of Popular Mechanics magazine.
"We cannot let these tales go unanswered," McCain wrote, saying that the "9/11 conspiracy movement exploits the public's anger and sadness" and "traffics in ugly, unfounded accusations of extraordinary evil against fellow Americans."

I too would love to consider an alternate explanation to the official explanation of 911, especially one that is less improbable.
I have yet to hear of one. All I can find are dissertations on why the official explanation is improbable, which I don't need to be convinced about it. That's obvious.
But what are the alternate explanations to consider?
People seem to think that evidence of the official explanation being improbable, and hypothetical partial alternative explanations for individual elements, is somehow an alternate explanation for what happened that day. It is not, of course.

So they position explosive charges up and down the towers in advance. NORAD starts running drills/war games of the exact scenario that actually happened, and either facilitate the terrorist plot or at least allow the planes to fly into the bldgs. George Bush is reading about goats at a school and slips up and says he saw the first plane hit the building on TV. This was impossible at the time, as the first footage was of the 2nd plane hitting the 2nd building. NORAD stands down. The pentagon is attacked (but where is the video of the plane?) Later, Flight 93 is most likely shot down. BBC reporter reports that Building 7 has fallen at least 20 minutes before it falls, while law enforcement and rescue personel are told to get away from it because it's about to be 'pulled'. Bush and neocons get everything they want, from the war in Iraq to Americans living in fear while he eviscerates our Constitution.
This is just a quick summary of some ideas, and has more documentable evidence and eyewitness support than ANY part of the 9/11 comission report. Yes, it's a quick and dirty "theory", but it makes more sense than the B.S. we've been fed.

I have been out there with Blair Gadsby ever day of his hunger strike, and let me tell you, he is an amazing individual. Blair is on his 10th day of no food and not once has he complained at all.

McCain's testing the limits of what is sufferable
Answering McCains' forward back at him, "WE THE PEOPLE, cannot let our servant-government, (of which you are a steward), continue to think that it's 911 Commission Report, with those huge gaping holes in it, and books like this debunking bunk, have in anyway satisfied the legitimate concerns of intelligent people."
Recent polls put those who accept these stories, "as told", at around 30% and shrinking. So, John, who's exploiting whom? "Ugly, unfounded accusations" are what you are accusing the majority of your constituents of holding against your position. That doesn't sound like a vote-winning strategy to me.
"Extraordinary evil" is involved here, but your credulity seems to be about testing the limits spelled out in the Declaration of Independence:
"all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."

Accountability should have been a core mission of the 911 comm. In its prologue the comm. stated that they did not seek to assign blame.

What is the truth
I don't know what happened on 9/11 but what I do know is that their explanation defies science and common sense. I could understand circumstantial evidence at one of the locations but their explanation defies science at all three areas in mulitple instances. You know the government could debunk the some of the Pentagon theories just by releasing the security tapes of nearby cameras that caught the hit but yet they refuse. Why? What are they hiding? On top of that their lack of investigation, their secrecy concerning everything to do with it, their use of it to destroy our Constitution and push their agenda has me asking a lot of questions as every American should be. Now we have a recent Rumsfeld tape saying we need another 9/11 to get public support up for the war in 2006. We have Scott McCellan admitting the lead up to the war was a propaganda campaign. Folks their is your 9/11 smoking gun right their. But the science cannot be denied and convinced me that those planes didn't collapse those buildings something else did.

have it on good authority, that there are some posters here on DP who find this to be "embarrassing".
Just imagine how embarrassing it will be for the neocons when they are found out to be what they are.
This would propel our movement forward, and sink the neocons.

I am not a truther, nor do I have any proof for 9/11
or against the commission report, but what I do know is that there was in fact more money and time spent in investigating Bill Clintons affair then the death of 3,000 citizens. I have watched the videos and wonder why the commission report left out building 7? With unanswered questions I feel these people have a legitimate gripe about the way in which this was all handled. The most curious aspect is the politician’s reluctance to confront these individuals and enter in any form of dialect other than playing the conspiracy card. If there is nothing to hide then why are they so secretive about the event? Why is building 7 not discussed in the commission report? Hell, I sound like a truther, and for no other reason than curiosity.

you raise the same questions as we all are asking. What do you call yourself? It seems like you might be a little insecure with your position. Why is being a seeker of the "Truth" in every circumstance not acceptable? Be who you are and have confidence in your ability to ask questions and think. You don't have to be in people's faces to throw out the same questions. Don't even say anything about "truther" and just raise the questions. Our jobs are to promote thinking and promote the truth. RP never talks about the Truther movement, but he makes you think....
