Would you vote for a McCain/Paul ticket?
Would you vote for a McCain/Paul ticket?
Sure McCain making the offer to Paul is highly unlikely, but not as unlikely as Ron Paul winning the GOP nomination himself, or running as a 3rd party or independent candidate. There have been VP choices in the past in which there were significant differences between the two, including Eisenhower picking Nixon, JFK picking Johnson, Nixon picking Agnew, and Reagan picking Bush.
And this article, McCain's Last, Best Hope: Ron Paul, explains why McCain should pick Paul. Part of the article argues:
Ron Paul brings some heavy ammo right off the bat. He has the online fund-raising thing figured out, plus a built-in bloc of 15% or so independent-minded conservative voters to add right in to McCain's 26% GOP base. That gets him to 40% from Jump St.
So, you see, he's assuming we would all vote for McCain if Ron Paul was running with him. Is that a reasonable assumption? Would you vote for this ticket?
Well, frankly, I think I would, just in case "something" happens to McCain which would make Ron Paul the president. Also, it would bring publicity and credibility to the message. These, by the way, are the reasons I think Ron Paul would accept the offer, should it be made to him.
So, would YOU vote for John McCain if he selected Ron Paul for his running mate?
Per the article cited above, you can let the McCain campaign know that you will vote for and support the McCain campaign if he chooses Ron Paul for a running mate, and will work against the campaign if he doesn't, here:
Perhaps add something like, "if John McCain is sincere about seriously reducing the size of government, then he will choose Ron Paul to be his running mate, and if he does that, then I will support him with all my time and resources I can make available."

not very pertinent at this point. Let it go. :)
Yep!
Looks to me like somebody's cheese has slid off their cracker.
Not the first indication of it, either.
Notice who the dipshit was that dragged it up out of the bin.
Classic troll.
Non-starter
Ron Paul would not serve under McCain because to do so, he would be empowering preemptive war, which Ron Paul believes is the greatest evil in the world today.
That's why I am sad when I hear about a Libertarian who is drawn to McCain because of Palin.
Would you vote for,
The homosexual marriage of Satan and Jesus?
"The Constitution was written not to regulate you in any way, the purpose of the Constitution was to restrain the government." - Ron Paul.
NO F'IN WAY!!!
Ropn would be relegated to the same role that Palin will be pushed into as soon as her novelty has worn off. She'll be a do nothing VP which is what they are supposed to be. McCain wouldn't ever offer Ron the VP slot (nor would Ron accept it) but if he did it would purely be to take advantage of his supporters. He knows he's not getting our vote now, and he is desperate to make deals to win. The same sort of deals he'll make as Preident to line his poskets and those of his friends.
NO
Ron Paul is Presidential timber and not VP
of course not
and why are even putting this on daily paul? this is an inane question!

Dr paul wouldn't.
Why would I ?
When you think about it almost any politician would jump at the chance to be vice president but we all know that Dr. Paul has ethics beyond that. It's scary when you think that there is a politician in the world with dignity ?
I will go where the good Dr. goes
It's pure insanity, plain and simple and you know that fire and water don't mix but Ron Paul will have my vote in 2008. I will give him that vote under any circumstance and under any condition.
This is an understatement:
"McCain making the offer to Paul is highly unlikely." I don't understand why anyone would waste their time speculating about this.
YES! In a heartbeat. But
YES!
In a heartbeat. But McCain and the Neocons would never it happen, no matter how much $ Ron Paul brings to the table.
It's fairly evident that Obama is going to become the 44th president of the United States. He's CFR communist trash. The Global Poverty Act alone tells one just how much "they" want to implement their world socialist nightmare by redistributing wealth from rich countries to poor ones, wiping out the last remaining super power in the world so the global enslavement can ensue. "They" will use global terrorism as their primary weapon to enslave the masses...and wipe out a whole lot of people in the process.
Have not both of them been
Have not both of them been acting consistantly in their own way? Now one expect them to turn around and face each other? HaHa
Mccain will do anything to win
which means he'll drop Ron Paul after he wins Presidency.
Yeah- Id support Ron Paul
He'd get alot accomplished as VP. Itd be hard for congress to explain their gridlock- RP would act within the perameters of the Constitution.
yes I would because At that
yes I would because At that point it means Ron Paul knocked some sense into Mccains thick SKULL!

Watch and feel the power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a fantasy world, IF Dr. Paul accepted the invitation,
Yes, I would continue to support Dr. Paul.
It would be comical to watch him undermine McWar at every turn.
Plus he would serve in a kep foreign policy role and as President of the Senate.
Most importantly, should McCain kick the bucket, look who's President of the United States.
That is what all of you people who say that you wouldn't support this need to realize.
VP is one McCain accident, heart attack, stroke (all very possible at 71 when engaged in the world's most high stress job) away from being President.
You can't pass that up. Though it would be incredibly bitter sweet.
Go Ron Paul!
P.S. - I'm still dreaming of him being Speaker of the House (3rd in line's not a bad place to be either)
McCain and Ron Paul Ticket?
Ron Paul said "I could not support McCain unless he Changed his views"
McCain has shown that he does change his views, in order to get the nod from GHB he reversed his views on Torture and promised to Pardon GWB.
Something I would hope that Ron Paul Couldn't support.
My personal feeling is
"NO WAY MCCAIN"
"Be the change you see in the world" Gandhi
Yes, I would vote for a
Yes, I would vote for a McCain/Paul ticket - specifically because I would consider that to be an endorsement by our good doctor if he accepted the position.
Even if Dr. Paul could succeed in one single thing as VP, The Enumerated Powers Act, that alone would be worth its weight in gold to our revolution.
Actually this is a good idea
When the ballot appears you will see 4 names and two slots another words you would see 4 names and two slotes so you would have a president and a vice president and four names example Hillary,Obama, Mccain and Paul.Just switch the names for the slot for example:Put Ron Paul name in the presidential slot and mccain in the vic presidential slot or put obamas name in th vice presidentail slot. This has been done before in the first presidential election I believe Washinton and Adams ran on two different partys and they were both elected president and vice which was said to have been a very bad idea and never done again.
Would you vote for the sun
Would you vote for the sun to set in the East? Sheesh
Thank you
My sentiments exactly.
In a word??
NO!!
If Mac changed his ways..
As Ron has said, if JM changed his outlook. Ha, Ha, Ha...
What you believe too be true, is true too you...
Sadly yes.... I want Ron Paul in the White House that bad...
Sadly yes.... I want Ron Paul in the White House that bad...
besides, he'd be a conservative conscience and voice of reason, and then all we have to do is wait for McCain to die...
and when he loses, it sets us up for 2012 (Ron willing of course).
HOWEVER.... I don't think we need to worry about this because McCrap isn't going to offer, and more importantly, Ron Paul isn't going to accept.
I think I might
My reason is that Dr Paul as VP would also make him President of the Senate. A lot of politicos say that this is a symbolic position as the President of the Senate has no vote except in event of a tie. I believe that a VP who actually knows the Constitution also knows that the President of the Senate can influence legislation every bit as much as party leaders, if he is willing to bring the weight of the Constitution to bear. Just my small insignifigant opinion.
No
John and Ron don't mix, but I would definitely support a Paul/Baldwin ticket!
yes
agree
agreed!

no question
Of course I wouldn't want to see McCain as president but then I wouldn't want to see Obama or Hillary as president either. I'd rather a McCain/Paul presidency than an Obama/neoliberal or a McCain/neocon ticket. With a McCain/Paul ticket we'd have an in, we'd be a step closer to changing America. Can you imagine, the underdog of the House becoming the Head of the Senate; CRAZY COOL.
Now, that's logic
This is the most succinct presentation of the logic so far as I can tell, Good job. I can't understand why others can't see it. Perhaps they are not persuaded by logic?

Laugh!
Absolutely
If Reps win, Paul resigns in two years in disgust, and runs against McCain in four years. If Dems win, Paul is the heir apparent to the nomination.
Of course his age would be a big factor four years from now, but I would take that scenerio any day.
I'd follow Dr. Paul to whatever end...
If that means voting for McCain, i'd do it. I trust Ron Paul and he owns my vote in 2008, period.
This makes my blood boil

YES!!
McCain's health report was 1173 pages spanning just 8 years. Of course I would vote for that.
"The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are as bold as a lion."
Another reason for McCain to pick Paul
The more I think about this, the more sense it makes.
Given the McClellan book, McCain has reason to try to distance himself from having the "my way or the highway" mentality of the Bush administration. Picking a true maverick like Ron Paul would do that.
And McCain could promise to let Ron Paul run the economic side of the house in order to entice Paul to accept. McCain doesn't understand or care much about that aspect of the job anyway.
Go MCCAIN/PAUL!!!

Until Dr. Paul says he will do it, then I don't know
Not sure I would want to, but if he took it, I probably would. My vote goes with Dr. Paul.
Yes, because I think McCain will die during his term.
Or become too sick and will have to leave.
Probably a heart attack (not that I wish it on him).

Dr. Paul says Barr is an ally (http://www.newsweek.com/i...)
