Bob Barr won the LP Nomination ten days ago and has already raised 225k. Ron Paul raised 600k in the first three months of his candidacy, and raised a grand total of around 35 million, mostly in the last two quarters.
In addition, Barr already has 35 meetups with over 100 interested and over 700 members.
Bob Barr will be on the Glenn Beck Program at 7pm eastern now changed to Friday

If he had not, then he could not sit in on the conference committee to iron out the differences in the House and Senate versions.
The house version, at Barr's insistence, had an added provision which sunsetted to the worst of the bill so we'd have to vote on it all over again. The Senate version did not have this in it.
IF Barr had not voted for the bill as amended, he would not be allowed on that committee. Since he did, and he was on the committee, he was able to make sure that the sunset provisions were in the final version the president signed. Otherwise the act would have been fully permanent from day one.
Bush was pissed at Barr for doing this, and backed the other republican in Barr's next election bid in '02.
This is the reality of how Congress works, like it or not.
And yes, Barr does regret even having to give that much benefit of the doubt and trust to the administration, and is working to repeal the act.

Here's what I know about Bob Barr. I know he was one of the witch-hunting Republican's in the Clinton Era. I hear he has had a change of heart, and is now a Libertarian. But where was Bob Barr when all those children died in Waco? Where was Bob Barr when we were screaming for a real investigation into 9/11? Where was Bob Barr when we were Money Bombing and Blimp Slapping? Where is Bob Barr now when the Republican party is literally ass raping our campaign? Would such a champion of freedom allow such a thing without voice his support and concern?
Ron Paul stood up to people no one, and I mean not president's, no one stands up these people. Ron Paul stood up to them and screamed "thief!!". His courage and character is not only admirable but inspiring. May I live to see a day his face is on Mt Rushmore. The least I can do is support him and his movement. I plan on marching in Washington in July. I will march to Minneapolis. I will advocate him as long as he seeks it, and the principles of liberty every waking minute of the rest of my life.

This Barr "Sunset Clause" excuse is pure BS.
This Barr "Sunset Clause" excuse for voting for the Patriot Act is pure BS because any legislation can always be amended in a later Act. It doesn't even need to be in a Bill on its own. Just add a sunset clause provision on to any unrelated act that is sure to sail through Congress and that Bill becomes an Act, and you've got your sunset clause enacted. Barr''s excuse that he was trying to mitigate the Patriot Act with a sunset clause by voting for it is therefore seen to be false.

I think the Sunset clause was a legitimate attempt to maintain checks and balances. Passing a law is not always as simple as 1 + 1. It took effort to renew this controversial law, with modifications. The original bill was ramrodded through before anyone had a chance to consider the ramifications. The Zeitgeist of the country was strongly behind it, the politicians represent those people. Barr at least attempted to mitigate it.
Also, Barr is at least rhetorically championing some of our causes now. I am not going to dedicate my time or energy to him in the near future (at least not until after the convention), but he seems like the best option for my vote.
I think all the witchhunting and conspiracy talk on this site goes overboard. Baldwin and Barr are not trying to steal Ron Paul's Revolution, they are JOINING IT! I am quite pleased that both minor "right wing" parties nominated open Ron Paul supporters. That is a small victory for this Revolution.

He's spinning his wheels, he's way too late to be viable, and even Ron Paul realized the Libertarian part isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe Barr can make a few good sound bites out there, but he's not going to do much more than that.

If you like Bob Barr or his running mate I have to question whether or not you understand and believe in what Dr. Paul has worked so hard for over the years.
So, are you really clueless? Or are you simply yet another poster with some other agenda?
Barr does not
support the war. So I take it you are for it that's why you won't vote for him?
Also, Barr did not 'pick' his VP, we the delegates did. He almost ended up with Steve Kubby, and would have had about 60 Ruwart supporters not left the convention floor in a huff because they were upset she lost to Barr.
Root is going to do a fine job as Veep, and his policies are even more Libertarian than Barr. But that's also why Barr will make the better Pres candidate this cycle. People want change, they just aren't ready for the amount of change they need. Someone like Paul, or Root, maybe even Barr advocating real tough medicine is going to have a tough time convincing the feel good idiots out there to vote for him. Staying more mainstream will help people make the transition from GOP or DEM to LIB.

Hit reply. I don't know much about Barr. I am not that interested tbh. I love the American Freedom Agenda though. I find the LP a bit lame most of the time and would go with the Constitution Party. I haven't looked at Barr other than the AFA.
I read other posters here quoting Root on Ron Paul and he sounds like a creep and a neocon to me.

I also don't think manystrom disabled the flag feature so people could run around and tell people to shut up continually instead. At least we now know who the major flaggers were - OUTED. This idea some people have here that they can lay down the law so only things they like are discussed is really authoritarian. There has developed in the last week or so a little group here which tells people to shut up or go away - like this is their forum - they even have the nerve to criticize the site owner for things he posts!!! - too funny!
