Dear Dr. Paul,
I am writing this letter on my favorite Ron Paul forum, dailypaul.com to thank you for all that you have given me and for all that you have given this country.
Until I discovered you at the start of this Presidential campaign, I had no idea that men of principles and integrity still worked in Washington. You sir, are a role model for me, my children, and my entire family.
We understand that you were reluctant to run this year and were surprised by the outpouring of all the support you received. Well, that just goes to show you two things. First, honesty is the best policy. And secondly, the time is right for the message. The people are sick and tired of all the lies, corruption, greed, loss of personal liberty and property, etc.
Even with all that you have done for us, I must ask if you would consider a third party run at the White House. I have seen numerous interviews where you were asked about a third party run, and you always said "no, I don't think so", or "I have no intentions of doing that". I know you had to say such things during the Republican Primaries or very few registered Republicans would be inclined to vote for you.
We the people of your Revolution will support you in whatever you decide, but we are desperate for change in this country.
And I personally believe the time is right for a 3rd party run with someone who has publicly stated his position on all the key issues, and his positions are almost identical to yours. You know that I am talking about Jesse Ventura.
All I can ask is that you talk to Jesse Ventura and then decide.
But, whatever you decide to do, I and the members of your Revolution are behind you 100 per cent.

As you know Ron Paul has started a Revolution in this country for the restoration of the Constitution and our personal liberties.
Dr. Paul has been a tireless crusader for limited government and limited taxes. Dr. Paul believes in the "Just war" theory and not the "Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive war". Ron Paul also wants to return this country to the use of "sound money".
As you know Ron Paul has stated all these positions this election year, but these are the same things he has been saying for the last 30 years. He is the real deal.
We have all seen you on the television interviews, expousing all the same principles of Dr. Paul.
If you really want to make some changes in this country, then join our Revolution. Do you want to restore America to its former greatness? Or is your rhetoric just a gimmick to sell books.
You have said that you would run if you had ballot access.
But I tell you this, if you join forces with Dr. Paul for a third party run, then the Revolution will ensure that your ticket would have ballot access.
This year we have a chance to take our country back. Are you willing to turn your back on that chance? All that I am asking is that you contact Ron Paul and talk about it. This is important.

Wednesday, May 28, 2008. NOMINATING CONVENTION! Please note that this is not a formal Call to Convention, which will be approved and issued by a licensed Parliamentarian in the next week or two.
The Reform Party USA is very pleased to announce that the 2008 RPUSA Nominating Convention will be held July 18-20, 2008 in Dallas, Texas! The formal Call to Convention will contain information regarding transportation to/from local airports, hotel information, and a general schedule of events.

TENTATIVE CONVENTION AGENDA:
It is critical to keep in mind that, unlike the choreographed and scripted conventions of the major parties, Reform Party conventions are 100% subject to the will of the seated delegates. This means that while we can set a proposed agenda, it's up to the delegates whether they choose to abide by it, or to move to business however they feel is best. That said, the following rough agenda is likely:

Since I started this thread, I have been closely monitoring it, and listening to all the members speak. I have come to a conclusion that maybe you gathered from reading the open letters. My letter to Ron Paul was polite, my letter to Jesse Ventura was more of a dare.
I am somewhat disallusioned by Jesse's lack of a formal public endorsement of Ron Paul. He speaks the same language, but does he speak this language only to promote his new book? Is he just capitalizing on our movement?
I would suggest, that each of us make a video, to goad Jesse into joining our Revolution. Because, while he was surfing in Mexico/Baja, I am sure that he was watching what is going on in the Presidential Race.
I promise to make a video that calls him out as a coward, for not openly endorsing Ron Paul.
Will you do the same?

I understand the urgency. Goad yes....but let us not offend. No one likes to be called names. He's not the enemy.
We haven't figured out a way to make this happen yet. Let's not throw stones.
A video storm is what is needed. I mean the best stuff we can crank out.
Let's aim to take him at his word. He wants in on the revolution. The next battle of the revolution is Washington DC, July 12: Then his backyard in SEPTEMBER.... Is it potluck, or is he firing up his grill.
We invite him to speak at every event ( and bring his book ). Have him tell us what his thoughts are on our next move as we carry things forward. If he tells us RP's chances are slim because the Republicans are corrupt, well, its not like we haven't heard this before.
With a guy like Jesse, the dialog starts after he has told you where he stands. We want to shake the established agenda....so does he.
Nobody is going to push him around. We need to instigate revolutionary efforts, but not antagonize.
We are on the right track. Let's not hyperventilate.
I am not disillusioned,at all.
and don't think it is really fair to expect him to mention RP in every interview. He WAS plugging his book,not campaigning for RP.
One of the biggest things that sold me on JV was his recollection of the events of 9/11 and his thought processes at the time.
Then, his son finally convinced him to take a look at the film"loose change" and he described the same feelings I had when I watched it. You can't make that stuff up,and convince people of it.
I feel he is sincere in his heart, and mind. Is he perfect? NO
Neither is RP. Neither am I for that matter.
If anything I am disillusioned with some elements of the Revolution,in that they feel they need for RP to bless their every move.
People need to start thinking outside the box.

I think the odds of Ventura/Perot are good, while the odds of Ventura/Paul are very low. Ron Paul is still running and will go to St. Paul. By that time, your Ventura campaign needs to be going full throttle.
Even if Dr. Paul could be persuaded to run with Jesse, he couldn't be persuaded before September, and you actually DON'T have time to wait for that to happen! If he's going to run he needs to campaign--and get ballot access--during the summer.
I'll respectfully repeat my earlier suggestion: Get Ventura to campaign promise Ron Paul a key position in his presidential Cabinet. That puts no pressure on Dr. Paul.
Ross Perot has drawn a lot of flak in the right-wing talk media, but he has two things going for him that give him great credibility: (a) He has been totally vindicated in his opposition to NAFTA and other outsourcing treaties (remember his quip about the "large sucking sound"?), and (b) He racked up some of the highest vote percentages in history for a Third Party candidate.

but Ventura alone would still be great media coverage for the Revolution/Freedom Movevement. If Ron refuses all efforts to draft him, maybe Jesse would hand him a nice position in his cabinet! We must work quickly and get the petition link out to any news site or forum that will help! Having Jesse in the senate would be just another 1 no vote that doesn't advance our cause. So be URGENT!!!

It’s soon party time. Time to dance and make romance. OK, plan some moves ahead of time. And selecting designated drivers before you set out is sober advise. We need constructive feedback. I mean this. Things need to be thought through AND we need to prepare for the bold action which will need to be taken. But in the end, if it’s suggested we are morons for even Ventura-ing forward, and that we should just sit on the porch, I say: ‘…let’s get stupid’. How things shake out will depend on a number of factors, but, I’m convinced helping Jesse be a player will help make this an event. Jesse has the boom box.
The Ultimatum does not need to be overt. Jesse, as former governor of Minnesota can be there for the 1-2 punch. He could be there at Ron’s invitation or Ron could be invited to Jesse’s gig.
Ron and Jesse can each throw a party and dance. They can flirt. ( I hope this metaphor does not provoke the dissention of the homophobe thread—that is precisely the type of hot button side track that is always used to keep things out of focus). I want Jesse to be a player. I want Dennis Kucinich to help rock the house as well. I don’t care if we don’t even get into the parking lot, we need to come to rock and roll. Maybe a Jesse rally and a separate Impeachment rally the weekend before the festivities. It will give the talking heads something to babble about. People will be converging for the GOP dud. If we set the beat ahead of time, we’ll at least call our own tunes If we have enough base, and turn up the volume they’ll feel the rumble.
Ron will play it like he’ll play it. Let folks resort to him for moderation when it’s time to chill between sets. Ron Paul can be the belle of this ball ( that’s right—The Liberty Bell ). If it is Ron Paul’s charm to be coy, let him be demure. But we need to face down these Hollow Men of the GOP who will be courting the wallflowers with more than a whimper and a whine. Let’s not hang our heads and pussyfoot with hands behind our backs. It’s time to release repressed energy before the rage and need becomes antisocial.

Be mindful of the fact that you are seriously running out of time. You are close to losing the opportunity to run Ventura as a candidate. You do not have a party to run him on--the CP and LP will have nothing to do with him--and pretty soon you will be all out of options on a party level.
Ron Paul is still running. He will probably not suspend or end his campaign out of respect to his own delegates.
Every passing week loses ballot access in key states, whether Ventura runs as an Independent, invents his own Third Party, or selects an older one like the Reform Party.
As I see it, your only intelligent option is to unhitch Ron Paul from this wagon and find another VP.
If Ventura is the only one who has to sign on to this idea, you can start the ball rolling now. In September, it will be much too late for Ventura to run.
If you start the campaign rolling forward right now, you may still have a chance. If it oozes along through the summer, the time window will close on the ballot access.

Did anyone read what Nystrom said about why the Daily Paul traffic went way down? He said it crashed after the New Hampshire primary and really dropped after the ambiguous winding down no third party run letter! So once again for those that just don't get it. FOR A REVOLUTION TO SUCCEED, THERE MUST BE CANDIDATES TO VOTE FOR IN THE GENERAL ELECTION!!! Americans are bandwagon people as a whole. After New Hampshire, even before Dr. Paul said the campaign was winding down, many supporters jumped ship because they knew the Republican Party is a fucking scam and would not let us win! Why won't the naysayers here just admit that getting maximum exposure of the freedom message with Jesse Ventura and Ron Paul leading the charge is the best and only way to get the political fence sitters and fair weather fans energized enough to care? This country is in serious trouble but people continue to say, let's just slowly take over a seat here and there. Hello!!! Who's gonna vote for these other Ron Paul Republicans? Right now I think he thinks RP is set on the (R) ticket.
He has to be sold on the idea. Why it must be a call bomb. He has got to see we are behind it. All of them need to see we are behind this effort. He knows the grave danger our country is in. I don't think he realizes the power of trying to get the two together.

If Ventura is top of the ticket, it seems to me that your best strategy would be to proceed as if Ron Paul is not the VP.
Ron Paul will not be the GOP nominee, so you should strike out that possibility. If by miracle chance he was, nobody out there would care about putting Ventura on the ticket. They'd be too busy thanking God and kissing the ground. And if he was the GOP nominee he'd have no need for a celebrity running mate.
IMO, you have to find a Third Party that will run Jesse Ventura for President, and you need to find it immediately while you persuade him to run for President because your time window is closing rapidly.
If he runs Independent with no party, you need to sign him onto it right now, and that will only have a small chance of working if you can find a wealthy donor to pay for the ballot access.

Paul won’t deliver the ultimatum himself. We need Good Cop/Bad Cop; one hits ‘em high, the other hits ‘em low… but they don’t get to have their election this year – business as usual.
We don’t stay home because we didn’t get the raised letter invitation. We bring a present: the chance for GOP victory in the fall. Then when they reject our Trojan Horse, as they will, because they see us as barbarians at their gate…We strike up the band and dance to our own tune.
If we do this right many party goers spill out to where the action is.
If either Paul or Ventura do not want to run let’s at least urge them to help us develop a r3VOLution ticket that becomes the Turd in Their Punch Bowl.
Here’s The Ultimatum:

I can see why he would be tired of the crap. You say he favored himself and family over politics, I can believe that :-P Its seems sad to me that we had such an individual with his foot in the door and lost him. I watched him on L. King and he was not as humble as I would have liked, but that was my perception itself. He said let the Mexicans in too pick veggies otherwise I would be paying alot more because he would charge big $$ to pick the stuff. I have the impression it would take allot of pressure to prove him wrong even if he factually were wrong. Does anyone have any material were he admits he was wrong? Sure, it's in his new book.
It was a combination of his wife's Epstein-Barr symdrome and the constant crap from the media and the feds.
He even at one point threatened to put a CIA tial in the river if they kept it up.
He explains all in the book, which is a good read. Even his (mostly) libertarian views and a sure-fire way to win, but his timing way just off this time. In 2012, if he follows up on this, look out!

From what I have heard him say.
He was sick of public service. He had the opportunity to see the belly of the beast and wanted a break.
After all he said he was confronted by the CIA shortly after being elected Governor. He thinks they were surprised that an average guy could get elected,and wanted to assess him.
As he put it " I had given 4 years as Mayor,4 years as Governor,and 6 years in the Military. That make 14 years of my adult life in service to my country."
I think he was just fed up,tired,and wanted a new adventure in his life.

No SHIT Sherlock. We aren't talking about an RP lead 3rd party ticket. Not only has RP said with 99% conviction that he would not. Since he lost the primary it is imposible for him to be your write-in solution.
If you want RP in the Whitehouse in any capacity it has to be VP on an independant ticket. The only best option we have is Jessie Ventura. How has proved he can beat the Dems and GOP in both his bid for Mayor and his bid for Governor.
If Jessie gets in the race he will be the only candidate with former executive experience. This country is not in the habit of electing Senators and Congressmen bacuse they tend to be long on rhetoric and short on executive experience.
If Jessie goes so far as to offer himself up as the NOTA candidate then it is a lock. So long as we push the NOTA sentiment threwout the major parties constituency.
At any rate this is not a 3rd party run for RP. It's a 3rd party run for Jessie Ventura if he answers the call.
