ARE ABSENTEE BALLOTSSTILL AN OPTION?

I've been seeing alot of people recommending voting nota...now I thought that we would still be able to vote Ron Paul if he was'nt on the state ballot by voting absentee..now for me I have no choice but to vote absentee being that im stationed overseas..but isn't this still a road we can take?

I don't think so. Some

I don't think so. Some states do not allow a write-in for the POTUS. Other states RP would have to file paperwork for the vote to be counted and he's not filing.

If you vote NOTA you will still need to write it in, absentee. Will it count? No. But they will count it because it's neither a person or binding.

This is only if we cannot find a better option. However, since NOTA can really disrupt voter support disenchanted with the prospect of McBama in the oval office. I fully endores it as a worthy protest vote if used in a single voter block.

Keep in mind that the last thing any politician wants to face is a vote of no confidence. So getting voter consent legislation passed is going to take political will of intense magnitude. This really also goes hand-in-hand with a mandate for universal national ballot access, which neither major party wants because it threatens their monopoly on the elections.

On any level of government for any office you vote for. Don't support any candidate who will not support these two things. And think... when these two things are inacted. We really will get to choose who is POTUS.

The only hesitation I have with voting NOTA

is that it dosnt say " I want Ron Paul" like a futile write-in would. Im still torn on the issue. After the votes are counted they will say "Here are the numbers- McCain got this many, Obama got this many Baldwin, Barr etc and oh my...NOTA got this percentage AND there were also an uncounted number of Ron Paul write-ins." Ill feel like I voted my conscience if I know I was one of those Ron Paul wasted vote people- even if Im the only person who knows it. A vote of no-confidence for the others IS appealing as well though. I just feel like I will gain more personally wasting my vote than the protest will gain from another vote of no confidence in the big picture. Mcain dosnt really strike me as the kind of man who cares that Jinc emphatically resents the idea of him running the country.

Nota as it applies to the

Nota as it applies to the revolution is only good if there is alot of it that isn't necessarily for Paul. NOTA is a final vote solution not a first or even second vote solution. We want the masses that do not support RP or the other candidates to go threw with NOTA to cap their numbers and split their votes. As for the revolution however, I plan to have a non-NOTA vote. It will really come down to a consensus within the movement what that vote is. Although I am pushing for a Ventura/Paul ticket and proclaiming NOTA. I will vote with the single voter block strategy. RP or NOTA should the posture as we go into September unless JV gets on board before then. It is quite likely that if none of my plan comes to fruition that I will make a last minute vote switch to the LP or CP candidate. But since I am indifferent to this as a back-up plan. I'm letting those with more passion figure it out since i'm still trying to sneak RP in threw the back door.

okay : ))

I gotcha. And thank you for your dedication in all of this wninja!

I voted absentee recently in California and wrote-in

Ron Paul as my Congressman -- good fun.

I'm voting absentee in the general election and writing-in Ron Paul as president. Will it count? Not sure but it'll sure feel good to send that message. Barr and Baldwin won't matter even if they are counted.

Hey Lisa...

If someone will be in Australia on a spouse visa just before the election, and they will still be a US citizen -but residing in Australia- would their write in count if their LAST state of residency did not recognise Ron Paul as a write -in?

It doesn't matter where you are.

Your ballot comes from the place you were last registered and is no different from people living in that county.

If you are going to be in Australia during the election, you'll need to register absentee and give them your Aussie address. You will need to keep on top of it if voting is important to you. In my county, if you don't return your absentee ballot they will not send you another. You will have to re-register. A couple of times over the years, I have traveled back to the US during election time and have taken my ballot back with me and delivered it in person.

Personally, since I know neither Baldwin nor Barr has a chance of winning. I am going to write-in Ron Paul regardless. It might, or might not count "officially", but his name will still be on record. The GOP will definitely get the message if a million of us took the same route.

Spouse visa, huh? Things are moving along. Seems a million years ago. I literally cried when I was given my citizenship. I was fed up with dealing with immigration and was happy that it was all behind me. I had to get permission every time I wanted to return (a "resident return visa"). What a hassle.

I think it depends on your

I think it depends on your home state's write-in vote rules. My state requires that a write-in candidate be registered with them before the election. I think some states require you to register the names of the candidates for the Electoral College and might require you to register the name of the VP candidate.

nothing from anybody huh?..i

nothing from anybody huh?..i guess people are too busy with discussion of the new iphone?

After looking into it a little bit further

Im finding that although there IS a blank you can use as a write in on most? all? states' absentee ballots, it may not be counted if the state in which you are registered to vote in did not liscense Ron Paul as a write in. (using moneybomb funds to ensure he WAS liscensed everywhere as a write-in may have been a good idea- i personally did nothing toward that end when we had the chance so i cant bitch, just saying ...grrr) For what its worth you can apply for an absentee ballot as early as 90 days prior to the election.

Im a registered Republican in Washington state

We cannot write in Ron Paul . BUT I will be overseas myself on Election Day. Ive not been able to find any specific info as to any loopholes by voting absentee- anybody out there in the know? any links?
