** ABC News: Ron Paul Launching Campaign for Liberty **

Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign, which was a pugnacious, ideological crusade against big government and interventionist leanings in the Republican party, will officially end Thursday at a rally outside the Texas GOP's convention, ABC News has learned.
Paul told supporters back in March, in a video posted on his website, that he was "winding down" his campaign and planning a new phase to what he and fans call their "revolution."
The new phase of the revolution officially begins with a speech tonight in Houston and a web video to be posted on his website, officially ending Paul's presidential campaign and freeing up the more than $4.7 million in campaign cash for investment in a new advocacy group, The Campaign for Liberty.
The new entity will be used to push a slate of libertarian-minded Republican candidates for public office in local districts nationwide, according to a description provided to ABC News by the Paul campaign. Paul also recently published a new book on his political philosophy, The Revolution: A Manifesto.

Lets say you were to convince 100 Million of your fellow Americans to "write in" Ron Paul. How many write in votes do you think will be reported? Zero. Unless he was a "certified write in candidate" your vote goes into a black hole and counts as nothing. Why not use your vote and vote for a small goverment candidate? I am sure your answer will be that if a candidate does not have an R after his name, you are genetically incapable of voting for a given candidate.

Time For Bed Children
I only read a few of the post..and the few I read..it seemed like half where nothing more than bickering children.
We are THE PEOPLE..we are suppose to be spreading THE MESSAGE..not a bunch of back biting boocrap.....as they..the NeoCons, count on us to do.
We need to show up, and question, not just federal levels, but state, county, and city/town levels of our government. We need to be ready to demand they be tossed out of office the 1st time ANY of them go against the Constitution.
They should ALL know we're watching...No set time should be given to them..no warning..no anything...A recorded phone call..a recorded face to face , a fax, anything, should face them around every single corner...a billboard near their office reminding them...t-shirts that read Government:We're Watching You On ALL Levels.
For parents of children under 18...would you like to see another branch of 'non' government that can come in..they go against the Constitution...they even go against the law...and the ones that pay the price..YOUR CHILDREN...I suggest you read..learn...and fight on every level.

I just feel like we have all put so much into this campaign and for RP to "suspend" his campaign without swinging for the fences I just feel like he could have "gone for broke." He has NOTHING to lose and EVERYTHING to gain!

The Alaska Constitution defines the people of Alaska as the owners of the natural resources of the state of Alaska. Therefore, the people of Alaska allow the oil companies to pump their (the people's) resources, in exchange for payment. It is not welfare; it is a business deal, and the oil companies agree to it by virtue of doing business with us, the people of Alaska.
Please read up before you get "freaked out" about what we have going here. You may not like it for your state, but that is why the U.S. Constitution leaves these issues to the states to decide upon. Our state decided that the resources belong to the people. Do you have a problem with that? If so, why?

Does the state collect any form of tax? What I'm asking, are the resources generating so much revenue that it runs the 'essential' government and has some left to spare for residents?

He did not say he is filing paperwork to that effect.
Just like he didn't say that a few months ago when he said the campaigning was "winding down," and the NYT and major TV networks lied with headlines saying he was out.
His "Campaign" is a political organization registered with the FEC--by closing it, he can redirect his $5,000,000+ into other things.
We will still go to Saint Paul (I'm a national alternate from Alaska) and still mingle with all the other delegates. We are still free to choose a different candidate than McCain.
Ron Paul will still be registered with them, I believe, as a candidate, and we can still make it happen--if we move the mountains that are minds and show them how he really is the Best Choice.
Simultaneous to the Convention, Dr. Paul will be within a few miles, ready to show up at a moments notice to speak, should we manage a floor resolution to have him speak.
Don't give up! Hope for America -- We are all part of it!

What I don't understand
is if he is not quitting, why didn't Manystrom voice frustration with the article. He said his comments were taken out of context but that it was a good article. He should know what Dr. Paul's intentions are or at least think he is quitting himself, or he would have been ticked with ABC for saying that.

It's sad but we need a much better educated country if we're going to win. Hopefully, this is what the liberty initative will be about. More people can tell you about Brittney Spears and Kevin Federline than can about the Patriot Act.
We need to start a massive education effort that is understanding of our fellow citizens who we are educating.

This is yet another reason why I cannot tolerate mainstream news media with their agenda-setting biased reporting of the candidates. I've ignited a great deal of heart and patriotism for this country through the Ron Paul libertarian movement. There's no way I'm shifting gears from now through November. The old media is wrong if they think they can attempt to write him off again.
The freedom message must continue!
I have cycled through several emotions since the beginning of this campaign: sadness, laughter, anger, and elation. I would not trade this experience for anything. I have joined the Campaign for Liberty. I WILL be in St. Paul come September. I WILL continue to educate others. I WILL continue to be involved in the political process. These past 17 months have been among the most exciting and eventful of my life. Together you and I delivered a message of freedom the likes of which American politics had not seen in decades. I have been blessed with the most informed, well read, and enthusiastic supporters of any presidential campaign. Something of great significance has just occurred in our country’s history.
With the primary season now over, the presidential campaign is at an end. But the larger campaign for freedom is just getting started. Therefore, I am happy to announce the official launch of the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty.

Completely Confused and Frustrated!!!
What has this whole campaign been about? I sacrificed my precious time,energy and money to have someone with my beliefs WIN The Presidency, or at least spread the message of freedom to the largest audience possible! If I had been told from the start that there would be ZERO chance of a 3rd party or Indy run I never would have stood out in the freezing cold advertising a candidate that never intended to finish the Presidential race. I love Dr. Paul, but these times are more URGENT than some of us think, including Ron Paul. A foundation is great, but why is it focussed on trying to change a corrupt party full of gangsters that WILL NOT LET US SUCCEED. Get over it!!! This Campaign for Liberty should be focussed on creating a NEW third party or uniting the ones that share simular beliefs! IT is VITAL that we have a candidate that comes the closest to having the record and message of Ron Paul to vote for in the preidential race. Otherwise our little Liberty Campaign will be drowned out daily by the sickening sounds of McBama being force fed into every Americans skull!!! Having no solid presidential candidate to rally around WILL KILL this R3VOLUTION. Did the colonists form a foundation to slowly try to influence the British into lowering taxes? Hell no!!! I hear your frustration and have often shared the same attitude. The difference is, I've been frustrated with our wayward gov't for two decades!
Ron Paul brought renewed hope for this election and for the future of this republic.
Ron Paul is fighting an heroic battle against the long and deeply entrenched duopoly of power that is about to ruin this country. He truely believed that his campaign was doomed from the start, because there were so few of us that understood the problem. Wow, did we surprise him!
There are millions of Americans with their light bulbs coming on and more all the time. We will always be a minority, as long as most people are relatively comfortable and have a TV, beer and a good ballgame.
BUT....when the economy or war jars them out of their comfort zones, they will start to question the status quo. That's were we come in. When they blame the oil companies for high prices, we calmly begin the education process about the Fed-caused devaluation of the dollar and thus the inflated price of oil.
When we explain that we can no longer maintain a global nation-building, interventionist foreign policy that has our troops in 130 countries and cost a trillion a year.....they will start to wake up.
The American people are not stupid, they are just mis-informed by the slanted media and ill-educated by their gov't run schools. They just don't know our true history of liberty, limited gov't and non-intervention.
Schools have a vested interest in teaching obedience to authority and not explaining that the Constitution severely limits the gov't, not our liberty. That we created the federal gov't for the express purpose of defending the nation (a job they are failing) and protecting our rights.
And if the gov't fails these tasks, it is our right and duty to "alter or abolish" and set up a gov't that works for us. It's right there in the Declaration, but if you read it outloud in most towns you risk arrest for "advocating insurrection." Go figure.
Far from being discouraged by today's announcement, we should be thrilled that RP is moving to a higher plane in the fight. He's a realist that will maintain his chance to get the nomination, but apply that $5 million to all the other candidates that have been spawned by his campaign.
If Ron Paul gets just one lunch-buddy in congress, it is a success. This is only the beginning. We work within the party to return it to it's roots. That is the quickest way to help America. A third party just has too much to overcome.
The economy will be hurting in November and there's not much the president will be able to do. Paul Republicans will be elected in 2010 and by 2012 the nation will be hungry for a real conservative/libertarian gov't.

1) The Republican Party is not a democracy! They are GANGSTERS and will NEVER let you get control! That is REALITY! It's about MONEY and POWER, how hard is that to understand!
2) URGENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time is running out to save your country! If another "terrorist attack" happens, There WILL BE MARTIAL LAW. (PSD-51) Look at all the freedoms we have lost after 9/11 because of the Patriot Act. You don't want to see ACT two!
3) Don't be SHEEPLE! Yes, we all love and have supported Dr. Paul to the fullest, but if you follow every order or direction that Ron Paul tells you, YOU ARE A SHEEP. Everyone knows that his campaign HQ sucked big time and it was the hard work and dedication of the GRASSROOTS that propelled the entire run.
a) He never ruled out third party completely during the campaign because obviously it was an option that was being considered by Dr. Paul. He even asked Tim Russert on MTP if he could have a little wiggle room on the question. So, why then wasn't the question posed to US the freedom movement if this is truly OUR movement. We are being LED!!!
b) Most of the Ron Paul Revolution were never Republicans and never voted Republican. So why now with this CFL are we FORCED, LED, whatever you want to call it into winning Republican seats? What, we can't even decide if we want to start our own third party or maybe support Indy candidates as well? F the Republican Party!!!
c) I don't get why Dr. Paul bitches and moans about how it's too hard to get ballot access for 3rd party or Independent cadidacies? We could have done it! Even if we weren't on the ballot in every state, we could have done absentee or write-ins in the others. Why wouldn't we make ballot access laws and voter fraud be the main focus of the CFL then???
d) THIS ELECTION is ripe for the picking! 48% of voters did not like any of the candidates offered by either party! We need a modern strategy that utilizes the MSM to our full advantage. Do you realize that a victory in even one state in the Presidential race would grow this movement faster and wake up more people than 10 years of working behind the scenes? Not only that, if the country starts to devolve into the massive police state that I and many others expect it to, we will need as many citizens to be awake as possible to protest the subversion of OUR CONSTITUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, R-Double. Again, I hear your thoughts and concur with much. Please allow me to qualify my reply. I'm a retired US Military Officer with degrees in poly sci, international relations and a half century of life-experience and world travel.
Dr. Paul is the real deal. I never expected to see such a figure emerge on the national stage. He will get the American Flame Glowing.
It's as if Thomas Jefferson (who was a bad public speaker) and Thomas Paine had come to life to save this country. He embodies both their eloquence of thought and brilliance of clarity. The Idea has to come first.

How about a sports analogy: When your team is being trounced, do you as a reciever not follow the play as called, and just run your own pattern to get out in the open? Do you think the QB will see you if you are not where you are supposed to be? He's got guys twice as big as he is coming at him - he does not have time to scan the whole field looking for some rogue player. Get in the game and on the team, or go to a third party site and give them your support. (Does R-Double mean Republican double crosser? - Just asking.)

I tend to agree with you...I think CFL is a great cause and we should join, but we are not going to institute change rapidly enough to head off globalist fascism without WINNING THE PRESIDENCY.
Ron Paul (who could win on ANY party ticket) is dropping out of the race.
All three of the potential Third Party candidates have problems:
-Bob Barr has image problems (and rightfully so, IMHO)
-Jesse Ventura is a man without a party who has ballot access issues.
-Chuck Baldwin is a virtual unknown.
"We're Screwed '08" is looking more and more prophetic every day.

said that this freedom movement is just the beginning. The campaign was the kick-off. Now comes unending work in the in the trenches. We might get trench foot, and bad things might happen, but we don't quit, no matter what. Eternal vigilance.
It took us a long time to get into this mess, and it will take a long time to get out. Keep spreading the word, the message. A nation turns like a carrier, not an F-16. Freedom comes like a tree growing, not like the 82nd airborne. Restoring our freedom is a multi-generational work, not a 18 month project.
Dr Paul is going to work with some respected friends to create curriculum for private schools, which includes home schools. This shows me anew that Dr Paul knows what he is doing. I remain very heartened.

In these modern times we will not win whithout advertising! Back in 1776 people actually used to Talk to each other face to face to relay news and plans of Revolution. They were the media! The truth is that today the majority of Americans are either shallow, materialistic, ignorant, lazy, misinformed, unimformed, or a combination of all the above. To advance THIS Revolution we must reach the masses with the tool that influences them the most. They don't call it MAIN STREAM media for nothing. The MAJORITY of people today, still get their information from CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and the televised debates on broadcast networks. Having a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE in the race possibly making the MAJOR debates will wake up the sheeple more effectively than 10 years of working behind the scenes. This is a culture of Celebrity worship. We need An American Idol per se. Maybe someone like Jesse Ventura? Basically I'm saying MODERN STRATEGIES FOR MODERN TIMES!!!
