I think Ralph Nader is a fine alternative for Ron Paul supporters.
Paul speaks against BIG GOVERNMENT. And contrary to what news bites and propaganda would have you believe, Nader is also against big government. Consider the enormously bloated military budget which accounts for nearly half of the government's total operating budget. This is a tremendous waste of taxpayer money going to imperial wars based on lies.
And as part of this war, we have more BIG GOVERNMENT in the form of citizen surveillance. The PATRIOT Act (which Barr VOTED FOR) grants the government unprecedented powers to watch over American citizens without the need to prove probable cause in the court system.
Nader is against big government when it is fraudulent, wasteful or illegal. He calls for end to the intrusive PATRIOT Act and a massive reduction in the military budget. He wants to put an end to the excess of corporate welfare and put and end to the intrusive, failing drug war.
Nader is against maximizing government and sees its role as simply protecting the rights and interests of citizens and society as a whole.

The only two candidates that will broadcast those views are Barr and Baldwin, but Barr is the best bet to get into the news and debates.
1) Vote for Nader because he shares Paul's views on the war, foreign policy, our civil liberties. Problem with Nader: he has socialist leanings.
2) Vote for Barr because he SUPPOSEDLY shares Paul's views on the war, our foreign policy, our civil liberties. And, he is definitely a fiscal conservative. Problem with Barr: he's not trustworthy, especially with regard to his views on the Patriot Act and our military policy.
3) Vote for Baldwin because he shares Paul's views on just about everything. Problem with Baldwin: his chances of winning are less than the other two named so far.
4) Write in Ron Paul. Great idea if we can get enough people to do it. Problem with that: seems as if we have a few non CFR third/fourth/fifth party candidates to make that gesture unnecessary.

with the Campaign for Liberty really kicks in! I had planned on still writing in Dr. Paul in my state (Pennsylvania) (if I had to). Then I came across a very disturbing article about PA write-ins being written-off (the link to the article is below). Anyway I immediately notified our local RP meetup...we have a meeting soon, will be discussing this issue and we will be taking action, trying to get this fixed. Perhaps others should research their states' voting laws and take action, if necessary. http://www.pittsburghlive...
BTW, I am so thankful that there are RP supporters who understand "legalese"...when I start reading laws, my eyes start to cross...lol (Why is law language so complicated?)
I have looked into the Constitution Party and the thing that disturbs me about them is the prevailence of Christianity throughout their platforms.
I am concerned that if they should happen to get power, which is highly unlikely this cycle, that they will be another conservative movement that attempts to legislate morality and impose their religious values on the electorate. We have seen this happen in the Republican party and it was not to their benefit.
I don't think I can vote CP...
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.
Thomas Jefferson, 1791
Honestly, it is way too early to make a decision. Right now if I had to make a decision I would write in Ron Paul even if it didn't count. There are many of us that feel that way. BUT if Dr. Paul really thinks it is a bad idea to write his name in, he really needs to say, "Don't write my name in. You must vote for someone on the ballot" At that point I would vote for Chuck Baldwin. That's today, but tomorrow, or November it could be totally different. In the meantime, I will be trying to spread the message of the liberty foe THE LIBERTY CAMPAIGN.
Perhaps we should all vote for the worse possible candidate, someone who completely misrepresents our ideas. Let them get into office, install their programs and allow them to fail. Some people just don't want to believe until they get burnt. Like the Soviet Union, the state owned everything the people pretended to work and the state gave them money that was worthless. Since the U.S. government already owns most lands in our country most mineral rights and even if it isn't owned by the government it still has the power to tax it, so what is the difference. Sooner or later it will collapse.

Chuck Baldwin did an excellent job later last year endorsing Ron Paul in the DVD: "Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul and Pastor Chuck Baldwin, Pastor's Gathering & Forum". The video clips are from Ames, Iowa in August and, quite sure, Des Moines in October. Baldwin relates the idea that much of the U. S. Constitution originates from The Bible.
The problem with former members of the CP, is that running mate Darrell Castle voted in 2006 not to make issue with those not upholding the strict pro-life party platform(Mormons from Nevada). The party motto of "principle over politics" was said to be flushed down the tubes. I agreed in that if the party doesn't do what it professes and stand for it's own principles, how can it lead?
Don't think it is unfair to say at the present time that the CP is an unsettled party.
Ron Paul, has a great way about him. He attracts both evangelicals and libertarians at the same time.
Bob Barr has three strikes against him. I really don't understand why he'd be anything close to Ron Paul. Barr voted yea for the Iraq war on October 10, 2002, voted for the "patriot act" and supports the ACLU. Also: John Lofton of The American View did an interview with Barr recently. He seemed afraid to express Christianity. Seemed gruff and short tempered.
Write-In Ron Paul on Nov 4 and pester your local newspaper to report his results. Dr. Paul...and we as Americans...deserve this since he got more than 20% in some states' primaries. If the media would make a commitment to do their job right and report votes for major write-in candidates such as Paul, the two party monopoly would deservedly end. We as a nation need to focus on one viable candidate. He is still Ron Paul in 2008! Who else could it possibly be?
really likes Chuck Baldwin and I know he is one of RP's biggest endorsers. I also agree that we as Christians cannot use the federal government to enforce morality issues. That is not true freedom...even if I personally oppose this type of behaviour.
I hope and pray Chuck can come up with a catchy slogan which shows the benefits of the Christian based Constitution for believers and non-believers alike...I belief that should be the key strategy in his campaign. FREEDOM FOR ALL.
I am going to put a #10 clothspin on my nose and vote for Bob Barr.
He voted for the Patriot Act, but he was the one that got the sunset clauses put in that piece of crap. If it wasn't for Barr, it would be permanent.
I realize he has not been in the choir very long, but he is singing our song....
Ron Paul said that he could do a lot of good.
I think that many of us have had an awakening and a clarification of our ideas over the last few years. I believe Barr is sincere in his conversion.
I won't vote for McCain or Obama. Writing in a candidate who is not running a write-in campaign will insure your vote is not counted. Staying home and not voting is equivilent to allowing the two party system to push you aside. Voting for either party is an endorsement of that candidate or party.
Barr's platform more closely represents my views than any of the others at this point. If another candidate were to more closely represent my views, I would vote for them instead.
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.
Thomas Jefferson, 1791
on more than one occasion, cast the only vote for/against certain bills in Congressional votes.
He was the lone voice, or in some cases, with very few other Congressmen.
Some here might say that vote "didn't count" because RP's position didn't win, so he may as well have voted along with the group.
But, in reality, that vote counted MORE than all the others combined, because WE SAW the vote that stood for freedom.
Freedom will stand and be counted. no matter what odds stand against it. It doesn't need pragmatism to let it's sound ring thru the nation. If anything, pragmatism will muffle it. The sound must be clear as a bell ringing true, if it is to be accepted.
Dr. Paul's vote counted because it was recorded, and is a permanent part of congressional history. A write-in vote is simply thrown a way in most cases. Personally, I want my vote recorded, and will never allow someone to place my views in the garbage. History will show where I stood.
you will never allow someone to place your views in the garbage, then you better start working for a new voting system because I believe in the primaries, many votes were maneuvered and I KNOW in past elections many votes were thrown in the garbage.

Someone dreamed up this whole story about why he voted for the Patriot act and he allowed it to be told, but he never agreed with it. That is weird.

We have seen this happen in the Republican party and it was not to their benefit.
I don't think I can vote CP...
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

I think you're correct. I am
I think you're correct. I am a Christian, but overly inserting Christianity into government equals big government.
Good points MikeK
ya cant legislate morality.
Too Early to Know How To Vote
Honestly, it is way too early to make a decision. Right now if I had to make a decision I would write in Ron Paul even if it didn't count. There are many of us that feel that way. BUT if Dr. Paul really thinks it is a bad idea to write his name in, he really needs to say, "Don't write my name in. You must vote for someone on the ballot" At that point I would vote for Chuck Baldwin. That's today, but tomorrow, or November it could be totally different. In the meantime, I will be trying to spread the message of the liberty foe THE LIBERTY CAMPAIGN.
What does it matter who wins if the state is still in control.
Sooner or later it will collapse.
grant
Chuck Baldwin or Ron Paul.

Baldwin picked Castle as running mate
I am a Christian who
really likes Chuck Baldwin and I know he is one of RP's biggest endorsers.
I will be voting for....

Well said and so true.
Well said and so true.
Dr. Paul
on more than one occasion, cast the only vote for/against certain bills in Congressional votes.
History will show where I stood
Dr. Paul's vote counted because it was recorded, and is a permanent part of congressional history. A write-in vote is simply thrown a way in most cases. Personally, I want my vote recorded, and will never allow someone to place my views in the garbage. History will show where I stood.
If
you will never allow someone to place your views in the garbage, then you better start working for a new voting system because I believe in the primaries, many votes were maneuvered and I KNOW in past elections many votes were thrown in the garbage.
