Hey, What happened to acid rain?

I agree with BigT, that whatever our beliefs are about global warming, acid rain or an Ice Age, the government should not be involved in resolving them. Personally I believe we will be affected more by an Ice Age than by Global warming. Therefore I prepare for such. But I don't expect the government to be there to save me, or do I need them to spend billions of dollars to tell me how the weather is going to be in the future.

An ice age would put an end to our worries about the government being necessary, since it would be a case of everyone for themselves, unless you believe the government and FEMA will be there to save you.

Another bang up job the Bush administration has done in respect to the environmental safety of this nation, and her peoples is like most other things that simply makes sense, it does not exist in their realm of reality. This calls for investment without monetary return, so it must be ignored at all costs, and the costs are the health and safety of our children. Knoxville TN being the nation’s asthma capitol of the world is paying for this oversight with their children’s health, and like good sheeple there is no outcry whatsoever, and trained they are to accept this as the norm for the area.

This is about the state of North Carolina suing the Tennessee Valley Authority for allowing polluted air from Tennessee to flow over a more restrictive North Carolina. Not to fear though, as the local children suffer from respiratory illness, you can be assured that those at the top levels of TVA are rolling in cash and bonuses, so it should ease your pain knowing that someone is making out well. (Sarcasm off)

The political response to this is that they would love to help, but it would raise the cost to the tax payer due to business having to install measures that would improve air quality, and all the while foreign aid goes out in the billions to Middle Eastern countries that would kill an American to spite his/her face. So when you learn how many bases we are building in Iraq, when you hear what the war costs, and then you see the children suffering in the most powerful nation on the planet, it can at the very least convert one from a staunch neo conservative republican to a Ron Paul Republican, such as it is.

Now to the acid rain, I can tell you; it is alive and well. The media have been instructed not to cover this as the establishment can ill afford to suggest such issues exist as this would take from the corporate coffers to correct. The reality is this photo from the observation tower on Clingmans Dome the second highest elevation in the South East:

and if you Google Clingmans Dome in the Smokey Mountains National Park you will find the proof of its existence and the damage it causes year after year while the obedient media stays mum, with an occasional story on asthma issues, still no public outcry.

I know it is hard for us here at the DailyPaul to consider the fact that the media would not report on issues such as acid rain, but when children are suffering it is no surprise they treated Dr. Paul with such disrespect. I am by no means a tree hugger, I have recently opened my eyes to what is going on in this country thanks to Dr. Paul, and the truth is ugly, and we should all be ashamed. We have allowed these corrupt politicians to hold office year after year based on name recognition and not demanded change, I hope this helps explain that acid rain is still around, and points out once again that our excellent investigative reporters in the MSM are at the mercy of big business at the expense of children’s health, thanks god G.W. is such a good Christian.

Here is another one - remember the hole in the ozone layer. I threw out my aerosol hairspray to save the ozone. No small sacrifice during the "big hair" phase of my life. lol

Unlike global warming, acid rain wasn't a hoax, but it was overblown by a sensationalist press. The short answer to what happened to it is the problem has been solved.

Acid rain was caused by large amounts of sulfur being released into the atmosphere, causing sulfuric acid to form, through smoke stacks at coal power plants and the like. The problem was solved by putting "scrubbers" in the exhaust systems to remove most of the sulfur from the effluent air.

I read last week about some “scientist” that wanted to pump sulphur into the atmosphere to combat CO2 and save us from global warming. Wasn’t sulphur the primary cause of acid rain?

I also recall in the 80s being told of a coming ice-age. Seems they have always used fear as a means of control.
