Letter from Bob Barr Campaign

For all you third party advocates. Read and learn what it takes to get on the ballot in just one state. After reading it do you really think you want to go forward with your ideas with less than 5 months left till the General Election. Get a clue. If you started today with unlimited funds you may get on all 50 ballots by 2012 but more likely 2016 or 2020. The Libertarians have been trying for than 36 years and they still haven't made it.

Dear Friend,

Since I wrote you late yesterday, several hundred people have rushed us a contribution to help the Barr/Root Presidential campaign be on all 50 state ballots this November 4th.

As you can imagine in a Presidential campaign there are hundreds (and sometimes it feels like thousands) of important projects that need our immediate attention, but in June, one issue dominates all others.

And as I'm sure you know its making sure we get on all 50 state ballots.

About 27 states are relatively easy but 23 take varying degrees of work

But no question, Oklahoma is the hardest state. In 2004 Oklahoma voters' only choice was between a Republican and a Democrat. No third party or independent candidate was on the ballot, in fact they've rigged the election rules in Oklahoma so you can't even write in a candidate's name.

Late yesterday, I got a phone call from Oklahoma State Chair, Angela O'Dell.

To say Angela is passionate about her job as State Chair would be an understatement. When I spoke with her last evening, I could all but see the tears streaming down her face as she was in a panic about getting enough signatures to get on the Oklahoma ballot.
To get Bob on the ballot in Oklahoma we need to collect 61,478 signatures by July 15.

But we can't seriously start collecting the needed signatures until we raise $40,000 to hire the people needed to collect the signatures. To complete the entire process of getting the 61,478 signatures will require another $83,000, but we can't even start until we raise the 1st $40,000.

I don?t mean to seem pushy but I know how much you share Bob's concern that domestically and in foreign policy our government is dangerously out of control.

So if you have not had a chance to send a donation in reply to yesterday's letter, please do so today.

We must get on all 50 State ballots to make sure that on Election Day November 4, 2008. We will have the largest vote ever expressing American's opposition to the out of control, power seeking, power hungry, big government Republican and Democratic politicians who are driving our great country into the ground.

I'll be anxiously waiting to hear from you.

In Liberty,

Russ Verney
Campaign Manager
Bob Barr '08

P. S. I'm sure you're aware that since I wrote you yesterday Ron Paul has terminated his Presidential campaign. This leaves Bob Barr as the only libertarian candidate running for President this year.

The cause of liberty has come so far and accomplished so much this year, please let me hear from you today that you'll send a generous contribution to help us continue the fight to stop the massive power grab by big government Republicans and Democrats.

If you feel you can send $500 or $1,000 please do so. But I assure you whatever you can send will be helpful and greatly appreciated whether its $1000, $500, $100, $50, or $25. But please respond today otherwise its going to be very difficult to carry our limited government message to all 50 states for this November's elections.

Wrong website!

Bob Barr is attempting to ride on Ron Paul's coattails, but it is not going to work! We true Ron Paul believers are going to stand with him totally, and we will not be deceived by any other substitute, because THERE IS NONE! I am just as excited about the new direction Dr. Paul is leading us as I was at any time during his presidential campaign. Freedom marches on!

Strength in Numbers

All of us Paul supporters need to come together and decide who we are going to vote for. Our strength can be noticed in our numbers, but if we don't unite under one candidate our power will not be clearly seen due to the dispersement between Paul Write-in's, Barr voters, Baldwin voters, and Obama supporters. We need to unite behind one candidate, and I say Bob Barr is our man. What say everyone else? "Unite or die" Benjamin Franklin

7 hours? Come on. Please read the other posts on this Babar battle before spouting of rants and shrills for a Lib-in-name-only.

I have not given up on Ron Paul

I may be the only one, I don't know.

And I don't like Root.

Exactly

There is no other Libertarian running now. What does that say about Barr/Root?

My money won't go to the CIA

You're not alone. I was going to write about Barr's horrible record and Root degrades Ron Paul every chance he gets, but then I decided I wouldn't bump this thread. Ron Paul has given us a goal to meet and a plan for the future. Never compromise your principles and have faith the good guys always win.
