Campaign for Liberty
We've seen it written here both ways...which abbreviation do you prefer for the r3VOLution 2.0?
CFL is cheeky because it's a riff on CFR, but is a tad blah, *but*
C4L is a natural progression from our highly successful r3VOLution, using a number in our logo. It seems intriguing and shows design consistency.
Please consider we are competing with:

C4L
is just catchy. CFL looks rather insipid and too much like the CFR.
"The Campaign" is great too
Dr. Paul cured my apathy
My name may give it away :-P
Though, like the remark from our fellow Patriot below, I'd prefer simply "The Campaign". They have their "Programs" and we have our "Campaign".
I prefer the "KISS" method, (keep it simple stupid)
Maybe (TLC)... **THE LIBERTY CAMPAIGN** :-O
TLC AKA > TENDER LOVING CARE :-)
In my opinion
it should be CFL *officially* (as in what the leadership uses), because it spans all age groups as being more professional and serious - which this definitely is. However, in my observation these kinds of things also get determined through natural crowd consensus over time. A perfect example is "Goole Ron Paul". Nobody at Google was brilliant enough to suggest their name be a verb synonymous with "search", it happened naturally from the Net crowd. So, C4L will probably gain "hip" and fun usage as a more flashy initialism, but as long as official correspondence uses CFL (or spells it out completely) the public will accept both as the usage case dictates.
Interesting tidbit of information:
Google inc. has actually legally suppressed the use of it's name as a verb.
Just some trivia...
That is a natural course for them...
The way I understand it, in order to retain the integrity of trademark of something it can't be something of widespread public common usage. So, people saying "xerox it" instead of "copy it" weakens their trademark. Adobe also recently denounced saying "it's photoshopped" for the same reason.
I think the new logo looks kinda funny.
It looks like the cover of a fairy tale book.
Ron Paul would be a knight in shining armor...I guess that the federal reserve would be a bunch of evil alchemists trying to turn paper into gold...there would be some kind of dragon somewhere...I guess its name would be NWO, and I guess that it would have a penchant for destroying sovereign kingdoms...I guess that hot Liz chick, the "Ron Paul girl" would have to be some kind of damsel in distress...aren't there usually midgets in these kinds of stories somewhere?
The official name is CFL, so I think were stuck with it.
Works for me...
CFL
I never got into using numbers instead of letters. Too cutsey.
Keep it CFL please... Trying
Keep it CFL please...
Trying to be cool with C4L is not smart. Plus C4L looks like CAL to me.
I like C4L. I have noticed
I like C4L. I have noticed that when you mix letters with numbers it gets more attention than when you just use letters alone-makes it more interesting.
C4L
It has a young appeal and gets as far away from CFR as possible. I hate CFR-absolutely hate it and the first thing I thought when I saw CFL was CFR. Not a good thing.
I also like CL--because the C and L on the site are so nicely done. The minor "for" does not have to be depicted.
CFL
that what the movement started calling it, so thats what we should use.
Well…
I’m not from the era of chat lingo, so I prefer “CFL.”

CFL
It just seems a little more professional. However, if we're going the fun route I would like to put on the table, "C4Lyf"

Call me boring, but I like
Call me boring, but I like CFL better as it is standard abbreviation and will work across the age spectrums. I mean C4L is kind of fun like 1337(LEET/Elite) or H8te, or the multitude of other hAckZor lingo. However, a good standard abbreviation alienates nobody. I can just see it now...some 80 year old lady explaining to her friends that she is a member of the C4L...
Plus, I kinda of like the matchup of CFL vs. CFR :D . It is kind of like the 'L' stands for Liberty Lovers vs. Rockefeller Retards for the 'R" hehehehe

I like either
C4L or CL and let the for be implied.
I don't like CFL at all because I hate the CFR.
On the site, I love the way they do the C and L, so it could just be CL. or CfL, but that still creeps over to CFR and I hate CFR-did I mention that?

Personally im not one that likes 4, 2, U etc
but alot of people do. the backward "love " in revolution was brilliant. adding the 3 for an e is clever. I will personally just call us CFL...and probably encourage it to be called simply "The Campaign" with an implication that really there is no other campaign. Itd be cool if after a few years when you tell a stranger "yeah I do work for the campaign" they will understand that as meaning the campaign for liberty. However it reaches your target is good. Im all for C4L- but not as an official letterhead. Id say keep it "straight" for now.- just me weighing in tho. : )
"The Campaign"
~
good one! Like it.
The abbreviation would not be for official letterhead and it would always be Campaign for Liberty. People just naturally abbreviate for expediency. Most say USA, not United States of America.
I like
the 4 because it is 2 good to be 4 gotten. LOL
Be forewarned,
I'm for 4.
With my memory, I need hints.
Either's fine with me!
This was my one of my first comments about the new organization. :)
Every time I go to type "CFL," my fingers automatically seem to type "CFR" and I have to go back and fix the error -- ha! I am hoping that "CFL" replaces my muscle memory quickly!
Because "CFL" might get misconstrued with "CFR", I do prefer "C4L," however, I personally don't take to cutsie abbreviations such as "kidz" or text-talk styles like "C U L8R". I prefer the utilization of actual lexicon. But I'll use whatever abbreviations and nomenclatures will best reach our audiences. So for young "hip" groups, I'll use C4L, and for other groups CFL, and yet others, "Campaign for Liberty" -- the label matters to me less than getting folks on board.
Funny that no one has suggested "RPCFL," since that's actually the name of the organization, "Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty." Or might that be too close to "ROTFL"?? ;)
thanks, fanofwalt...

excellent analysis there and I agree with what you've said. Either is okay for me, as well...this will be ultimately up to the Campaign for Liberty staff, but I was just trying to get a group take on the issue.
Visuals our important, and I've always loved our iconic and eyecatching r3VOLution logo. C4L seems like it may have a similar feel and extension, i.e....consistency is important to any brand, and ours is a great one.
