I am looking for information on running my car on water

I remember a post a short while back that spoke about converting a car to run almost completely on water. Has anyone tried this, or does anyone know about the validity of the claim? Does it work on all vehicles? Can anyone build the converter from the kit?
From what I remember the instructions for the kit was like $50 and the parts ran around $60. Is this right? I can't find that post.
I found a few web-sites but I am looking for the DP'ers to set me straight.

Youtube has videos on homemade HHO cells.
This technology uses HHO cells and from what I've seen it does work but will only give you a tiny increase in mpg. You could properly inflate your tires and get the same kind of increase. There are lots of things you could do such as tune ups to make sure you car is running in tip top shape and get the same increase. If you are doing all of that stuff already then sure HHO cells could help but I've seen youtube video's of them exploding too so be careful.
Youtube is a really neat place to find information about alternative energy sources including building your own wind turbine, solar arrays, hydro turbine (if you are fortunate to have a running creek nearby). Lots of things about it.

... fuel mileage improvement is not tiny. Every soon to be worthless dollar counts these days and for the minimal costs (less than $100) you could save gas, get more performance (10%-20%) and clean up exhaust emmisions (NO carbon). What's not to like? Please don't marginalize and dismiss this as a futile waste of time. HHO is an alternative to a $40,000 hybrid vehicle that will still spew CO2 from the tailpipe and have battery issues down the road at some point.

Not the most efficient of the one's I'm looking at, but it's transparent in it's workings and a good place to start learning.
There's one from eagle research which I believe produces more brown's gas which is what you want I believe since it runs cooler.

The problem I have with this
The problem I have with this stuff is that I constantly see people talking about how it -should- work, or how they are about to test it out... but I never see someone with specific, provable results that can be seen. The only examples I've seen that come close involve people installing this system and getting a couple percent better gas mileage... which could easily come from a slight change in driving habits (an unconscious change for anyone who wants this to work). Where are the proven results? Where is someone with a car I can come and see? This idea has been going around for a long time, so there should be something by now.

It IS possible. No you will not get it right without knowing something about cars. No you most likely will not get "complete" setups online. If your smart, it can be figured out and accomplished. No I am not offering assistance nor answering questions. YES i am telling people to think and be creative because it is totally doable, from mpg increase to totally running on water.

The thing with this is , you dont go selling stuff like this. You share it with trusted friends, family and acquaintances.You don't go running your mouth about it. Well if you think there are no PTB then go ahead ...LOL. Ever heard of a 100+ mpg diesel? Umm.... i have. Ever modified one to get that? Umm.... I have ....and Yes , business is good. Nothing is impossible. With 1) time , or 2) money , EVERYTHING is possible .... which do you have?
As stated in many other posts about this subject I will state again.... My lawnmower runs on water alone ....and amazingly well i might add.
If people want to stop and think for a min...they can take plans they come across and modify them and improve on their modificatons .... and viola ...WaterCar.

I built two about a month ago
I used two quart canning jars. Stainless steel wire. around plexi glass about 1/2 inch apart ran them in series just pluged one into the vaccum line and the other I have stuck in the air cleaner and did not do much else. I did not tune any thing up used baking soda and distill water and 12 volts. I got about 12% instant increase in gas mileage this was on an old 85 dodge 316 v8. I understand that smaller engines get better increase plus putting a tuner on it.

Not to answer for him but
he's probably talking about tuning or overriding your o2 sensor. Sometimes they will cause problems by telling your computer that your running to lean when burning hho.

Burn Water
Bought the supplies for my generator this weekend and should have a production test by Wednesday. My costs are now at $50 (I paid a metal shop to cut the stainless) with maybe $20 left to go. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE INSTRUCTIONS. I was planning on testing in straight tap water first then changing the catalyst (salt, baking soda, lye...) to find the highest production. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. This one mod could save hundreds yearly. If the auto companies built these, we could be driving 30 mpg trucks and SUVs.

use sodium hydroxide. It doesn't take much. A teaspoon and a pinch or two.

Burn Water
I'm using 6 2" x 6" strips of stainless for the cathode/ anode stuffed inside 4" ABS pipe. The HHO is then piped to a nearby bubbler to filter any water vapor that may escape the cell and act as a flash-back device in case of IMPLOSION! I'll attach the HHO line at the throttle body and at the air filter. Anybody considering using a HHO generator should use a bubbler and a 20 amp relay for the power supply. Hydrogen is 5X more powerful than gasoline so be careful. Thanks for the sodium hydroxide tip. Is that in distilled water? How much water? I should have at least 1 Liter in my cell.
My brother in law and I are installing one on our cars.
His is complete and he is running his booster now. Mine needs a little tweaking but should be ready to go by the end of the week. Can't confirm any mileage improvements just yet. He just installed it and filled up.

It adds about maybe 5 to 7 miles per gallon onto what was before around 20 miles per gallon. There is a conversion kit. The thread ran a few day s ago.
But there are cars out that are running mostly on water. Not in the US though. I just saw them speak about it on the news today talking about the Car Show.
