NEVADA marches on!! A report from "The other side"

Many of you may know the name Mike Weber by now. He tried to save the Nevada convention after the illegal recess. As we now prepare for a major battle, he is fully endorsing the "rouge" convention slated for June 28th. Read his release from today - It sounds like the ideas of liberty are making headway!
----------------------------------------------------
Please send this to everyone you know who was a delegate to the Nevada Republican Convention

A personal message from Mike Weber to all Republican State Convention Delegates:

Should you attend the convention of delegates on June 28?

I have been involved in the Republican Party in Nevada for over 20 years. During this period, I have been a county chairman, have served on the State Central Committee, have been a national delegate 4 times and have served Nevada on the Rules Committee at the last two national conventions. During this time, I never witnessed such blatant disregard for Party traditions, rules and processes as I saw in the Republican State Convention in April. Because of this, I have invested thousands of dollars out of my pocket to work with Dr. Terhune to convene the Republican state delegates on June 28. I am dedicated to challenge the process all the way to Minneapolis. If this convention process and my appeal fail, you are likely to never have an open process of electing national delegates from Nevada again.

Now you know what this is about.

I have received several messages from people stating that since Ron Paul is dropping out of the presidential race that having a convention on June 28 is a waste of time. Here's a hint, folks – I HAVE NEVER BEEN A RON PAUL SUPPORTER. This is not about Ron Paul. He and his supporters are being used as the scapegoat of a larger agenda. This is not about presidential candidates. This is not about national delegates. This is about right and wrong. We are convening on June 28 to take a stand for right – and you have that choice to make.

If you think it was okay for Party leaders to illegally shut down the April convention, stay at home. If you think it is right that Republican Party leaders purposefully crafted a set of rules to shut a group of Republicans out of the process, don't bother coming. Since 2/3 of the state delegates voted for an open national delegate nomination process but you think it is okay for Party leaders to ignore this vote and appoint your national delegates behind closed doors, go ahead and sleep in on June 28. I have no confidence that Party leaders are capable of running a fair and open convention in July. In fact, I'm not even sure they intend to reconvene the convention at all. But if you think this is okay, perhaps you ought to attend the Clark County Party All American Barbecue conveniently scheduled for June 28 (and I suppose that you think this is just a coincidence as well.)

In the past 20 years or so, I have picked up a bit of knowledge of the rules and procedures of the Republican Party. I have tried to teach a few of you about the process along the way. Now I will be faced against our state's best legal minds in front of the Committee on Contests at the national convention - a daunting task. This is very serious business.

A little over 230 years ago, Paul Revere rode though town warning that the British were coming. Most people turned over in their beds and went back to sleep. But a small, rag-tag group of patriots stood against injustice on that day. They were called rebels. They were called troublemakers. They were told they had no chance of winning. But they stood against the most powerful force on earth and gave us a country where ordinary citizens decide who represents them. Now we face a powerful force to decide if ordinary citizens will select our Party's national nominee.

So choose this day who you will serve. Are you going to conform silently and march like lemmings into the sea? As for me, I am going to stand against the injustice being handed to me by Party leaders and do what is right. I'm asking you to stand with me on June 28 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno at 9:00.

If you want to join in, please let us know.

My E-Mail To Every Republican in The State Assembly and Senate

Fellow Republicans and Citizens of Nevada:

As of today's date the June 28th convention that is being sponsored by the delegates is receiving strong support among the delegates we've called. We have radio rads airing in the Reno area, and the Las Vegas area. Delegates paid for 12 spots on KDWN, KOH (5AM to 6PM window), 23 spots on 99.1FM (Ira Hansen and Bill O'Reilley Show) 59 spots in Winnemucca and 59 spots in Ely. Delegates also ran advertisements in every Nevada Newspaper over the weekend. We've already received RSVPs for approximately 300 delegates to the convention.

On June 16th I sent the following e-mail to approximately 30 Republican Activists, Senator Bob Beers, Sue Lowden, and several journalists. I am sending this e-mail to a broader range of activists, politicians, and journalists. You folks are the decision-makers, the opinion-molders, and the leaders of our community. I am asking you on behalf of my community to read everything that is contained in this e-mail, and become leaders of the whole of the Republican party.

My e-mail to Sue Lowden and Senator Bob Beers has received rave reviews.

Here are some of their responses:

1) WOW! Thank you for "penning" what we all feel. You have "nailed" it.
2) Way to go, Jason!
3) Good writing Jason. Well said. I made plane reservations today. I will be there.
4) Really good letter! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5) Very impressive letter Jason!

Once again, I extend my invitation to Chairwoman Lowden to attend the delegate sponsored convention on June 28th. I hope that the leaders of the State GOP step up to the plate. We'd like them to put their money where their mouth is:

National Committeewoman Beverly Willard: "I am absolutely thrilled about moving up this caucus. It will get more people involved in the process, help to energize the party, and put Nevada on the National Map."

>
> There are also practical concerns as well. In Reno, on June 28th, there will be many hundreds of Republican activists from across the State of Nevada. This event presents a unique opportunity for aspiring politicians to present themselves to a highly motivated and highly active group of Republicans.
>
> The political problem that Chairwoman Lowden now faces is that her actions on April 26th benefited very few delegates, while at the same time it managed to enrage a majority of them. Although Chairwoman Lowden is extremely adept at handling the media, I don't think she will be able to slide by this time. There were simply too many people watching.
>
> The decision to move the Precinct Caucus date to Jan 19th opened up a flood gate of political activism, and these people, ultimately, want to be included in the process. The leaders of the State GOP will have to make the choice: Do they want the political clout that comes with having an early caucus state and the inevitable headache that comes with such power? Or do they want to move the Precinct Caucus date back to its original time frame in an effort to exclude the participation of the grassroots activists?
>
> We exist in a political environment that cannot be controlled by a single individual. We have to work within the confines of this environment. The problem for the Republican Party of Nevada is that Chairwoman Lowden seems completely disconnected from the existing political reality. I get the impression that she thinks what happened on April 26th was purely the result of Jeff Greenspan’s designs. This has nothing to do with one individual. She has completely misread the situation. This is a political movement. We are now engaged in something akin to a guerilla campaign. The delegates view the convention as their native land. The harder the State GOP leadership tries to stamp out the natives, the madder the natives will get.

> A similar political environment exists in Nevada. I can assure you that this not the intention of any delegates to the State Convention. The thought simply isn’t on their minds. I’d say that 95% of the Ron Paul supporters really liked Sue Lowden before April 26th. In addition to that, the political activists I’ve talked to yearn very much to work with the establishment; but they would like some share of the decision-making process, and this would include having a fair State Convention where they get to choose who attends the National Convention. Right now the majority of the delegates feel excluded from a party that they feel is being run by an out-of-touch Country Club Republican. This is the inevitable consequence of what happens when people in positions of authority stop serving their community and instead serve their own selfish interests. I know I will receive some criticism for making this comment, but it’s the truth, and someone has got to say it.
>
> My perception is that a fair convention costs the establishment very little in the long term, but it means the world to most of the delegates. At the end of the day I believe the State GOP leadership will acquiesce to our insistence on a fair convention. The grassroots activists make for natural allies of the interests that Chairwoman Lowden serves. What irritates me more than anything else is how completely unnecessary this current conflict is. We shouldn't be having this fight.
>
> It is my hope that Chairwoman Lowden will unite behind the majority will of the delegates to the 2008 Republican State Convention. Considerable momentum has built up around the June 28th convention, and her presence would serve as a way to heal a fractured party. She has nothing to lose, and everything to gain. As for our definition of success? Well, the truth is if we get a quorum we will be able to override any decision that Chairwoman Lowden makes. Failing that, a meeting of several hundred political activists will send a message to the party leadership that the party rank and file will not tolerate any malfeasance at any future State Convention. And in the unlikely event that that message fails to get across I will be content in knowing that at a rare moment in Nevada's history a group of courageous citizens banded together to stand up against an establishment that did not have their best interests at heart.

is this the group that just voted in favor of the June 28th

convention??? please let us know

great email!!!

go team send this sucker all over!!!

Very well put!

My recommendation now would be to take excerpts, with Jason's permission of course...O.K. Jason?....and send bits and peices as reminders to the various politicans and chairs of this State. I've been emailing back and forth with Bob Beers and you know, deep down I think he knows he is on the wrong side of this blanket. I frankly don't give much hope to Sue Lowden, but we can only hope. It isn't like we don't want to give them a voice...we just want our own, too. When the delegates are credentialed, it becomes their convention. So, any Nevadens out there...once we get Jason's permission...snatch your favorite bits and send them on to those you think can influence participation. Great job, Jason...thanks. Aren't you just so ready for this?!!?!

Why is this slipping to the bottom

This needs to be read by everyone. It is fantastic.

This is very inspirational

Prepare, prepare, prepare. I think many conventions have gone awry because there weren't enough people who understood all the rules and how to proceed.

FYI - No it is...

a message that I received from Bob Beers....

http://www.nevadagop.org/...

read it for yourself...

this is supposed to be the reconvening of the canceled GOP convention...

i only received the message today and thought it interesting that i had not seen anything on dp.... comments...whats going on?

Pressonregardless

You may have gotten this form Bob Beers today, but it was written back on June 4th by Zachary Moyle who is the Executive Director of the NV GOP, running interference for Suzanne Lowden, Chairman of of the NV GOP. We do not need to see this again. If you want more information do a search on DP under "NV Convention." This site that you posted is NOT, I repeat NOT the Official Delegate GOP Reconvene Convention to take place on June 28th. Are you a delegate to the NV Convention? If you want information on what the delegates and real patriots are going to do to right the wrongs of the NV GOP leadership, visit www.nevadagopconvention.c.... We're doing well here, don't let Bob Beers fuss with your head. The date they have chosen will never, ever happen, besides it is illegal, and their effort is small in comparison to what the "Ron Paul" supporters are doing on JUNE 28th.

Get Excited - It's going to Happen

pressonregardless has been trying to get his post going to publicize the wrong date today...please ignore. JUNE 28TH at the Grand Sierra Resort is when the delegates will surely press on in liberty. 7:00AM to register and be credentialed if you are a delegate...9:00AM proceedings begin in a parlimentarian and fair fashion for all Republicans. See you June 28th!

Nevada GOP Convention News July 26th????

Executive Board chooses Saturday, July 26th as new convention date

Las Vegas, NV: The Executive Board of the Nevada Republican State Central Committee has set Saturday, July 26th 2008 as the official date to reconvene the Nevada State Republican Convention. The convention will be held in the same place it started, at the Peppermill Hotel and Casino in Reno, Nevada.

A record number of delegates were credentialed at the 2008 Nevada Republican Convention before it was called to recess on April 26th 2008. The convention has already passed rules, bylaws, credentials, a platform, and elected national committee members.

“We are excited about completing business and moving on towards our end goal of electing Republicans in November,” stated Chairman Sue Lowden. “Our Executive Committee has worked hard to secure a location, insurance, and the necessary security precautions for the reconvening of the convention. All credentialed delegates will receive notification of the date and location by mail.”

Nevada has 34 delegates to the Republican National Convention. State Chairman Sue Lowden, National Committeeman Joe Brown, and National Committeewoman Beverly Willard are automatic delegates to the convention which will be held September 1st through the 4th in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Too Little, Too Late....old news

Fie Fie! This is the "rogue" convention....the delegates quorum convention will meet on June 28th at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. A small number of insurgents with delusions of grandeur have chosen another date...which is way too late as the results will already be in from the "official" delegates convention in June.

(pressonregardless) you might want to visit www.nevadagopconvention.c... for mor einformation and please chip-in while you are there!

No more hope....

We don't need to "hope" things will change, because they actually ARE changing! A round of applause for us all !!!!

Mike's comments are just the shot in the arm we need and I thank him!
I'll be there! We must make sure we get this word out to all delegates.
We are individuals, not lemmings...let's prove it. We have the right to vote for our choice and decisions should not be made by the RNC in DC but by the delegates as they voted to do. Nevadans are strong, we are not lemmings, we are individuals with a spirit of liberty for each and every person, not some suits from Las Vegas.

This effort by Mike and the Terhunes is a gift to us all and we must accept it graciously by doing the small bit we are asked to do....show up and be counted! Onward.

Clear something up for me

What does he mean when he says we are being used?

----------
"We will never give up. We will never give in." - Dr. Ron Paul

I have read several media

I have read several media reports on the April Convention and in most of them, all blame for the fiasco was laid at the feet of Ron Paul supporters. They will use public sentiment against us to further insure that there is never again any chance to permit a motion from the floor supporting an open delegate nomination process. If they have their way, future conventions will be nothing more than a rubber stamp ceremony for the party heads. Delegates will be determined ahead of time behind closed doors and anyone who questions the leadership will be villified and probably barred from future party functions.

Things are only impossible until they are not.
-- Jean Luc Picard

Has this been happening like this in the GOP

for as long as we can remember, since we have had predesignated presidents for as long as for ever. Or was the GOP rational at some point in history? When did media become totally owned by establishment? Are both parties the same?

if you/ we do not stop this tyranny in any form(ie stand up to

the bully's) then that will happen and we will have no more free country at all!!!

IF IT WEREN'T FOR RON PAUL RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT WE WOULD ALL BE IN THE DARK AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW CORRUPT OUT COUNTRY HAD BECOME....

That is certainly true for

That is certainly true for me. I can't wait to go!

I hope you send this to the

I hope you send this to the Campaign..Ron would probably be so proud he would bust a button on his shirt..

Mike Weber is a true Patriot

Mike Weber is a true Patriot and inspiration. Folks there are still good people who are insiders in the party. Mike weber Proves it. And in Idaho we worked with some of those same type of patriots in our party to oust our corrupt chairman.

Don't be so quick to write off the GOP it's not the rank and file its a small minority in leadership. They have had it easy herding the rank and file where they wanted them to go for several decades but many are waking up to that fact. It's time to take a stand.

This is about right versus wrong. Every credentialled delegate from April 26th needs to attend. The Nv GOP most likely will NOT have a meeting on July 26, opting instead to appoint delegates of their tyrannical choosing.

Yes, and I am so proud of

Yes, and I am so proud of all of you. Even Neo-cons are people. :) Think of me. I am all by myself in the GOP here, and all I talk to are old neocons..and u know what? They LOVE the constitution! They are just all confused about how it actually works in their government. Many think Bush is fine, but most of them do not like him or McCain. They just do not see the dangers yet, that we see and face. But NEVER tell them they don't know it, because then they get MAD. I gave every one of mine a Constitution, and every one happily took it. In fact, one lady had already gotten a free one and told the others about how to get a free one before I even got mine. They are sleeping but they dream of liberty, and do not know they are losing it. Most of them. Not that Sue lady in Nevada, and she is GOING DOWN,,,WTG NEVADANS. You fight a great fight..
