I was talking with a person I have never met from my area that was in support of Ron Paul but didn't become part of our local meetup group or was involved in politics. They know something is going horribly wrong as well.

I don't think a draft is coming any time soon either. However,
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) keeps introducing a bill to establish a draft or mandatory national service for males and females between the ages of 18 to 42. Last I heard, it was stuck in some committee somewhere and, if like past attempts, it will probably die there. He does seem intent on continuing to introduce the same legislation though.

or another mercinary army will shore up the numbers. They can hire already specially trained troops from all over the world to goosestep down your street and stomp on your freedom and your head. Besides, people might actually begin to care about what is happening around them if a draft disturbs their X-Box time or takes their kids away.

Check out the Department of Defense (DOD) Directive 6130.3, Physical Standards for Appointment, Enlistment, and Induction (I found it last fall, but wasn't able to find it today). It lists all kinds of medical disqualifiers. Here's an "about" article: http://usmilitary.about.c.... Actually, I just read that they can issue waivers for medical conditions. What'll you want to bet they'll be issuing a lot of waivers if there is a draft?

My disqualifer is f. (6) Nephritis, acute (580) or chronic (582) - I received a kidney transplant due to it. And yes, I did mention it in my many responses to military recruiters ("What have you done since graduating high school?" "Well, I was attending college, until I had to drop my courses due to the fact I'm getting a kidney transplant next week" "I guess that answers my next question" - a real conversion with a Marine recruiter.)

That is for military service.... what is coming up is national service.
A way to serve your government without being in the military...lol.
Not enough people can still qualify for military service because of the physical requirements... sadly enough, we as a nation are in pretty sad shape.
However, you can still hold down a desk.. at a local gun check-in point, a food distribution center, etc.

A draft is in direct conflict with the ideology of the bush administration. It will never happen because the country will go crazy for one but also for the fact that a draft removes the ability for Bush and his group to live in denial of what a failure this has all been. A draft is in a way the logical and reasonable thing to do which is the exact opposite of how the bush administration operates.

They were thoughtful enough about putting the national service idea together that they didn't only include military service.. so the majority of America that is obese can participate too!
The country will not go crazy.. it will be a nice combination of patriotism, people needing to feed thier families in a downward economy and a way to get a degree.
Of course, a major catastrophe would help feed the fire, as it were.. we'd just have to find a country to pick on that can nuke one of our major cities.
In an ideal situation, it would be a country without a central bank.. a place with oil... a populace that we've already trained America's debt-slaves to hate anyways...

They do not operate from reason. You need no more proof of this than the new McClellan book and others showing just how maniacal they are. All I can say is this.
If a military draft is ever instated do not let let them take your family.
They will not take anything without a fight.
I am committed to that. I don't want that. But that's what it will be if necessary.
I am thinking about moving to a different country,more and more,these days.

Where will you go?
I too have given serious thought about leaving but cannot fathom where to go. What countries are good choices? Panama? New Zealand? Italy?
That is the question,I wish I had an answer to.
I don't want to leave this great country. And I don't know where you would be safe from the encroaching police state.
I would just like to live in peace and not even have to discuss things of this nature.
I've thought of Costa Rica.But I have been told it is no better than anywhere else. I don't know,at this point.
