We have been married 37 years,
and only had a television set with tv for a 2 or 3 year period during that time. My husband wanted to keep it, although admitting that it controlled some of our family life, but decided we had to get rid of it, because he knew that it was the only thing that brought out my violent tendencies (of which there are none, cept towards the tv). I kept dreaming and day dreaming of shooting it to death. I always felt that it controlled our life around it, and also it tried to make us think a certain way, rather than thinking for ourselves. So, we did shoot it many years ago. We do have a tv set now, but no tv service, and now use it occasionally for movies, and school lessons, and musical instrument lessons. I recommend it to all with children to do away with it, or at least use it only for movies, (non hollywood). and other things.
I am sure people think I am daft
since I have large flat scren HD panel tv and no cable or other signal coming into it. Unforuntley I had not realized I was being neutralized by sports entetainment until after the purchase. I kicked all the sports programming a year ago and cable went this year.
The famly and I still enjoy the a movie now and then andoher dvds - but the mass media has lost its reach in my home.
The kids? They are doing great. My 5 yr old plays chess with her nine year old sister. That wouldnt be possible without kicking the cable.

The biggest mass-hypnosis machine for the younger generation is coming from Comedy Central via Stephen Colbert and John Stewart. Both of these guys are Progressives and they instill in youth the belief that government is there to do everything for us: fix all our problems, provide food and housing for everyone, and change our diapers. People who watch these shows are also under the assumption that they are smarter/more educated than everyone else. It's the best mass hypnosis I've ever seen.

Thank God my parents didn't own a TV for the majority of my upbringing. I think they may have owned one once when I was very young, but even then you couldn't watch just anything. Now as an adult with my own child, it is my responsibility to pass that wisdom on. Even to this day I do not watch much TV.
Generally, I only find myself watching if I know Ron Paul will be on, or if I have a very specific reason having to do with research or learning more about our situation. One more thing: those of us who face our dire circumstances with courage, not turning away to live a life of convenience and ignorance, are a blessing to the world. We fight the depression and sense of despair that we sometimes feel knowing what we know, but our strength comes from a source that can't be controlled by the enemies of liberty and justice. Even in prisons we are able to liberate minds locked in the matrix using the power available to us.

Are we seeing a pattern here? Those of us whose parents were smart enough to see something potentially malevolent in the unrestrained consumption of TV programming (even "age-appropriate" programming) have brought up children more prone to resisting the NWO. In contrast, those whose parents allowed them to watch as much TV as they wished are prone to sticking their head in the sand at the first sign of trouble. One thing I have noticed among hardcore RP supporters is a disdain for TV in general, and perhaps that's saying something....

I watched a lot of TV growing up...fortunatly i had my awakening. I only watch things of Humor and Cspan...and the occasional Fox or CNN to see what they are lying about today...Im like a dog now...i can smell evil.

Everyone I talk to, the topic of conversation is always had bad things are right now.....and all I have to do is ask a person "how are things going?" Please make sure that when you get into these conversations about how bad things are and are getting, that you interject that we are really building a movement that is going to change all this crap. We must know we are going to change it. They must know it too. Once most know it, it will change almost overnight. I see a BUNCH of evidence that it is already beginning to change. Let us continue to be firm and spread our resolve and understanding.

when i saw the propganda and the smear job they did on ron paul. the first few weeks were hard but life is so much better with no tv. netflix movies are an option.

Ok, I agree as much as anyone that we need to shut off the MSM. They're corrupt and it's actually fairly provable that they're being manipulated if you compare the graphs of the candidates web traffic online compared to the MSM web traffic. They all follow similar dips and rises based on events except for Ron Paul's traffic rising even when the MSM shuts him out.
You can scream all you want that people need to shut it off...just change your whole lifestyle because the MSM is corrupt.
Usually when something is corrupt or worthless, the free market produces an alternative. Don't shout out that we need to stop driving if everyone drives SUVs, recommend a hybrid. Don't shout out that we need to stop voting because the Republicrats are corrupt...recommend a third party.

The ZeeVee ZvBox. You plug one end into your computer and another into your TV. You still have all of the same TV channels of your old school TV but you can also change the channel to your ZV channel. From there you can watch Internet TV. There are a few sites out there that provide their own content. You could even just drop your cable and solely watch your ZV channel.
I'm in no way affiliated with the ZV device, nor do I own one but I see it as a good first step toward every day americans having an alternative to their corporate TV stations. This is something I could set up for my mom and she wouldn't have to become a computer geek to use.
I'll definitely be buying one of these, or hopefully a competitor will come out with one as well. But I see this as the future of our TV viewing as a nation.

While we are low ranking (as your statistics have shown) among 20 or so high-income countries, that is the difference between 97% literacy and 100% literacy. I mostly have a problem with the article making statements like, "most Americans can only form a few simple sentences," because it's a fundamental fact of language that humans can form infinitely long sentences in their native language.

I get tired of that slant.I do believe that what is going on on the planet is anti-human, anti-enviornment, anti-spiritual. That encompasses a lot more than just Christianity. This article implies that the TV has falsely created environmentalism. I say TV and government have falsely created messed up "too little, too late" laws that step on our rights and actually HINDER us from doing what's needed to take care of enviornment.Most people want to take care of this planet and if we could live a full life without polluting the planet I believe my fellow man would opt for that.(example: bring out the sustainable renewable non-polluting energy resources that have purposely been suppressed)

I haven't owned a tv for many years ... and when I did I was very selective about the shows I watched.
However, having switched off the cyclops, my mind has become much, much sharper. And remember, I was only watching "educational" stuff (which is actually, still full of lies). These days, when I happen to be in front of someone else's tv, I find myself analyzing the undersying agendas being spoon fed to the masses. Their whole technique is pretty apparent when you've been off the tube of awhile.
Another good (but much longer) youtube video is a BBC production (amazingly enough) called "The Century of the Self." They're using Freud on us, to keep us fat, happy and buying their crap. The elites fear a mass rebellion. If you have a few hours to spend, I highly recommend it.

Myself and 4 other close families have cancelled our television services 8 months ago. We no longer subscribe to the newspaper either. We derive our news from several sources but none of these sources are owned or operated by Disney, Viacom, GE, Murdoch or Turner.

television news a long time ago. I watch some local news and that's it. I ignore the brainwash machine otherwise. If anything, it had become more amusing than informative.

There were things in the article and the overall opinion, I was well aware of...however, it was a long article and there was some historical background, I wasn't... and the depth of the manipulation goes beyond what I had previously thought.

You can learn a lot about who we are trying to change by watching television. You can get in their mindset and understand their thinking. If you are alredy awake, then you shouldn't be fooled by the MSM. Also, television today actually is filled with shows that are very educational.
If you have discernment,you should not have to worry about TV .
I look at it as viewing enemy transmissions. and as R-Double said, it is important to understand their mindset. They call it programming for a reason.

Somehow, it makes me think of Obama, especially when people faint at his events and how the "light" encapsulates him...the Messiah! I'm not sure the Democrats realize what might be in store for us if he becomes President. There is just too much we don't know about him, beyond not like his socialistic policies.
