Elected Sheriffs willing to claim their authority

write an letter to the editor of your stating cases. Arrange a debate going with the persons running for sheriff. See if the will stand there constitutional grounds according to the 10 amendment and US court rulings.

Im a bailbondsman here in cleveland (moving to san diego area in 3 weeks) and the law up here states that the only individual that can arrest a sheriff is the county coroner. weird

An Eye for an Eye will ONLY make this world go blind~Ghandi~

It's that way in

Colorado, too. The county coroner in Douglas County, CO used to rib the sheriff about that. The sheriff didn't have a sense of humor.

It seems that this is a

It seems that this is a biweekly thread topic here. While it may be a pleasant fiction, its just that, fiction.

This myth stems from a case in the 1990s where the INS raided the home of two people in Jackson County who were here legally and were harboring no illegals. The couple who were raided asked the sheriff to make sure that it didn't happen again. To do that he presumably said these things, though I've never been able to see the source. There are a number of versions of the false story floating around but most include a federal judge ruling in favor of the sheriff, usually with quotes from the judge. This is where the story really goes into fairy tale land. There is no record of the case anywhere and no name for the judge is ever given. How can a story be legit with no case record and no judge's name?

I really wish people would stop bringing this up. I'm not attacking anyone. I learned this by posting a similar thread months back, doing the research on the election process for sheriffs and looking for the legal backing to the articles' claims. Its a fraud. By all means run , help people run for sheriff in your county or drop off Constitutional materials, but don't expect to have gained a magical position where you can use existing case law to ward off the Feds.

Stuff like this is what gives people in the movement a bad name for being nuts. Do the research and you will find that what I said is, unfortunately, correct.

Please let us know where you looked. It seems you want to claim foul but give us no background.

It took me all of ten minutes to find this case online: http://www.potowmack.org/...

I have the cases at home but am at work so I decided to see what I can find. This is the first case filed by Sheriff Mack. The Wyoming case is real. and there is an Idaho case that Idahoans followed in their news several years back. Also an Arizona case were local authorities removed federal agents.

You also show your lack of experience dealing with courts on constitutional and freedom issues. Courts often seal cases so they do not show up in clerks records or databases so they cannot be used as precedence for other cases especially when a patriot wins. I know this first hand and other patriots will testify to this also.

Bottom line we are not dealing with article 3 constitutional courts we are dealing with administrative law courts who use case law and maritime law and sometimes even make it up as they go and do not use lawful statute as they are supposed to. People have actually been told in these courts not to bring up the constitution again under threat of sanction. Don't believe me next time your in a court room for any reason ask the judge if your in an article 3 constitutional court.

Heres some more articles that mention the Idaho sheriff and a few others and what been going on with Sheriffs vs feds:

Get sheriffs educated.

They need lots of DVDs. Don't be afraid to hand them some evidence. Exhibit A,so to speak.
The sheriffs are the last vestige of local authority. We must make friends with them.

Sheriff Election

I am currently involved in an upcoming write-in campaign for our Ron Paul Sheriff who lost the primary by 38 votes. Why did he loose, why most folks believed he was a shoe-in so they didn't go vote. Only 24% turnout. Now they are coming out of the woodwork to support the write-in campaign. It has been a wake-up call for many who don't vote in the primaries.

Does your state have a "sore loser" law?

Sheriff Richard Mack

Sheriff Mack has been a consultant on numerous cases regarding police abuse, brutality or other government and police misconduct for attorneys and citizens alike. He lectures on various Constitutional issues, especially gun control and the 2nd Amendment, States' rights, federal intervention, the proper role of law enforcement, and the peace officer's oath of office. He is also an expert at explaining why a Sheriff is the leading law enforcement authority in his county. http://www.umedia.com/Mac...

sounds like

an interesting man

I heard

they Federalized all police but have been unable to link a source.

Anyone heard or know about this?

What you will start seeing is "Regional" on your police cars. I've seen them here in W. PA - anyone else?

Then..............

we have the recent example / fieasco with the Browns............

true

The Sheriff should have ordered the Feds out, like the WY Sheriff

I followed that story

I believe the Sheriff handed over his jurisdiction on a silver plater. The Brown's always said they would pay if after a fair trial they we shown the law. The law is way too complicated now but the request is very simple and easy to provide seeing it has been ask many times and ways. The Sheriff could have easily solved this by demanding proof of the laws they violated before handing them over. Ed and Elaine always said they would gladly pay if given proof. We need more Sheriffs of the same caliber they have in Wyoming.

This is true.

If I remember right, sometime in the 90's the sheriff in a Nevada county banned the feds from exiting the interstate highways in his county.

Also, the coroner of the county I lived in in Colorado knew how to get the sheriff's goat--he would remind the sheriff that he was the only man who could have him arrested. The sheriff, who had small man syndrome, or something, always got ticked off when the coroner ribbed him about that. It is true that the only man who has the power to arrest the sheriff is the coroner.

According to Common Law,

the smallest sovereign state must have at least 10,000 people. This number was established during the time of the ancient city states. It is the number of people required to create a self-sufficient community capable of satisfying the basic needs of the individual.

All you need to do is get the signatures of 10,000 people who agree to the borders of the proposed state. Then you must get a majority of the people in that territory to sign your petition. And, voila, you have your own legitimate state.

Next, you must establish a government that will be both representative of the people and immune to corruption. The only way to do that is to allow citizens to vote directly or by proxy. No bait-and-switch middleman politicians in the pockets of international bankers.

"Direct representation" - an idea whose time has come.

Mayor took all authority away from our sheriff

and now controls the entire police force here in Indiana. Interesting, because we have martial law training going on right now too.

Mayor can't take the

authority from a county elected official.

Well he did

research it if you like.

he may have done it,

but I don't think its legally enforced. I'm not an attorney.

Mayor = Sheriff

Control, or position, might have been a better term than authority.

This article might be hoax but the premise is true

The Sheriff has, if he/she so chooses to use that power, more power than the Governor or President in their county. I think many of them have been fooled that the can only take the scraps of the prison system. I think it is too bad they don't realize they can stop all injustice just on their say so. We should really look to take all Sheriff position across this country.

This is a question of jurisdiction....

....and the Sheriff is the law of the land, being the only elected law man. The Feds do not have jurisdiction and only have jurisdiction in a limited number of places. Not long ago there was a story about a Sheriff's Dept. who got sued by a citizen when the feds claimed he was illegal and raided his home with the sheriff's consent. I'm looking for the article and will post a link when I find it.

I didn't find the specific article that I was looking for, but this one is good as well......

If you read it closely it is claimed to be a hoax. Though look into it for yourself to find out for sure.

I find it

hard to believe that any local official could stop the Feds anymore.

The first local office we should be sure to influence.

The sheriff can also enforce election law and make sure elections are not tampered with... I suggest we make sure to get to know our local sheriff!

"There's a new Sheriff in town"

Don't bother to get to know your County's Sheriff, become the Sheriff! Find out when he or she is up for re-election and start the process now. It's a lot easier than you think. You are now the anointed one. You now have the knowledge and the tools to make this happen. You also have us, many of us who are willing to help you financially to reach this goal. Go ahead we'll prove it to you. We here in Pennsylvania are now in the process of running a Ron Paul republican in our county for the position of Sheriff and she is a definite shoe-in for that office, it will be an easy victory. Please keep in mind that you do not need prior law enforcement experience and you would be best served by "marketing" yourself as "The People's Sheriff". Also most Sheriff positions in this day and age require that you become Act 235 certified, so get busy now.

Excellent

This is where the Campaign For Liberty must put its efforts. We must all work at the precinct level to elect Ron Paul Sheriffs!

What a wonderful idea! Ron Paul Sheriffs!!! Awesome!
