That's what it comes down to....we need to make the biggest splash in November by causing a McCain defeat....Right now,Barr has the edge at name-recognition and Media attention...Baldwin and even Nader appear to have no media at all....Barr is also polling at 6-8 % of the electorate at this time...that's pretty good for a 3rd Party...we need someone who represents our views in the debates and to make McCain go down to defeat...a GOP/McCain victory assures years of dominance of the GOP by the stupid neo-con/"compassionate" conservative crowd...

If Ron Paul wants to go to Minneapolis and sing "Kum-by-ah" with his supporters, that's fine with me.
I'm even sending anti-McCain slide shows to Obama supporters.

I can't vote for the CP
I can't vote for the CP until they remove all references to Harvey the Rabbit from their platform. Jefferson built that wall for a very good reason, and I like it just fine.
I'll write-in Paul as planned, unless he endorses Barr, in which case I'll follow suit despite my reservations about Barr's past.

First off, I don't have to vote for ANYONE.
Secondly, everyone that is voting for nader/paul/baldwin/barr/etc could ALL vote for McCain and McCain STILL is not going to win. Plain and simple. If McCain were to win there would be an insurrection in this country. Hardly anybody likes the guy, democrat or republican.
Third, Barr won't be in the debates. Even if he did, he'd have to be in them for a long while for what he is saying to start sinking in. There just isn't enough time this go around.
If we can get the religious right to back Baldwin over the course of the next few years we stand a good chance at having him as President in 2012. There is no way the religious right would get behind Barr due to his new found libertarian views on some things. Baldwin would accomplish the same things Barr would and moreso. Pragmatism comes to mind. An end to UN participation, bully pulpit used to oust the Fed Reserve, no more foreign nations lobbyist groups (AIPAC comes to mind) having sway over US foreign policy, drug decriminalization left to being a states rights issue along with gambling/pornography i would guess. Ya, these are all things that someone like Baldwin, who is a pastor, could explain to the religious right and get the mobilized behind him.

And McCain may still be close in electoral votes.
However, if he loses Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, South Dakota because of a third party vote - it will be huge in the media.
Barr would have a chance to be a spoiler in Georgia as well. I'd like to think that a third party might have a significant impact on PA and NH as well.
if a Liberty based candidate could actually win some electoral votes, that would even be bigger.

That's what I thought too. So I was pretty surprised when he won primary after primary. And have you heard these pissed Hillary supporters..... And Obama's wife is a disaster.

Baldwin has to prove that he is not going to allow government intrusion on moral issues such as gambling and abortion. He would have to tone it down to ever capture enough support in America to win. How many neocon Israel supporting christians are out there? The majority of evangelicals are. So don't label the Freedom Movement into the category of the pro-life movement Freedom Movement. That will lose the many of those who crossed over to vote for RP. I respect and understand why people believe abortion is bad. But to change ingrained thinking will take a peaceful effort of outreach and understanding. Segregation never ended in a day, but you could not have judged those bigots, for they were BRAINWASHED, and indoctrinated. Same goes for the abortion issue. Vote Nader, stifle Oblahblah and get out of Iraq or we will be judged for all these killings.

Give it up already, and quit pushing Barr in our faces. The only real chance we have at winning this election is if Ron Paul can win-which I know seems impossible, but can still happen. Most of us here will not compromise our values again, just to hope for winning. I truly want Ron Paul to win the presidency, but if we can't have him, then we will do our best and carry on. Most of us realize much more is at stake than the presidency, and while still hoping for the best, are also getting more active in other areas as Ron Paul has suggested. Please do us all a favor, and quit trying to choose for us, we are all free thinkers and will decide for ourselves, I don't want to upset anyone here, but some of us will vote Barr, some will vote for Baldwin, and still others will vote for someone else, we each should vote for who we most believe in, and leave it at that.

A majority of the delegates at the convention could turn and vote their conscience on the first round rather than for McCain. The next batch could do it etc. Odds are slim, but there are odds that this could occur. To say it is impossible isn't true.

'Presumptive' and 'Definite' are not the same word. There is a reason that the former is used and the latter is not.
Until the convention is over, I am in Ron Paul's column. Afterward, I look forward to 2012, when we will have a much better educated electorate, even if we have to go do it house by house (which we will).

So, I will either write in Ron Paul, vote for a Paul-endorsed candidate (which will not be Bob Baaarrrff, trust me) or I will abstain. With all that in mind, we need to keep up with the Campaign for Liberty and we need to get as many Ron Paul Republicans into office as possible. And when the next election rolls around, we will be ready for them.
