I think I'm voting for Chuck. He's the closest thing to Ron Paul that I can find.. I was gonna vote Barr but hes a neocon plant. Chuck's my new choice. He seems sincere like the good doc.
As a Christian I see eye to eye with him. But, as a Christian, I am passionate about religious liberty and am terrified of anyone getting into office that might impose their religious beliefs on me or anyone else. Yes, there is a constitution that I believe was a God-given blessing based on freedom and justice. But, I do not want someone in power who wears his religion on his sleeve. Ron Paul is a Christian and he walks it but does not wear it on his sleeve.
But, I don't like Bob Barr either. So it is Ron Paul or nothing.

Still praying for a miracle for Ron Paul to be our next president, but my backup plan is Chuck Baldwin. Matter of fact, because after carefully studying both Barr and Baldwin, I feel Baldwin message is the closest to Ron Paul's, my car windows say Ron Paul/ Chuck Baldwin. with Baldwins email below his name, and CFL below Ron Paul's name. This way, since most people have at least heard about Ron Paul by now, it helps to get more interest in Chuck Baldwin.
James Madison said: "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined." (Federalist Papers #45) The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people (Amendment X).
Gambling promotes an increase in crime, destruction of family values, and a decline in the moral fiber of our country. We are opposed to government sponsorship, involvement in, or promotion of gambling, such as lotteries, or subsidization of Native American casinos in the name of economic development. We call for the repeal of federal legislation that usurps state and local authority regarding authorization and regulation of tribal casinos in the states.
Picking on Indianans..... come on man, have we not taken enough from them already?
Pornography
Samuel Adams said: "While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
Pornography, at best, is a distortion of the true nature of sex created by God for the procreative union between one man and one woman in the holy bonds of matrimony, and at worst, is a destructive element of society resulting in significant and real emotional, physical, spiritual and financial costs to individuals, families and communities. We call on our local, state and federal governments to uphold our cherished First Amendment right to free speech by vigorously enforcing our laws against obscenity to maintain a degree of separation between that which is truly speech and that which only seeks to distort and destroy.
With the advent of the Internet and the benevolent neglect of the previous administrations, the pornography industry enjoyed uninhibited growth and expansion until the point today that we live in a sex-saturated society where almost nothing remains untainted by its perversion. While we believe in the responsibility of the individual and corporate entities to regulate themselves, we also believe that our collective representative body we call government plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining the highest level of decency in our community standards.
So are they wanting to regulate the internet or tell me what kind of art I can have in my house or what movies to watch?
ON Drugs.....
The Constitution Party will uphold the right of states and localities to restrict access to drugs and to enforce such restrictions. We support legislation to stop the flow of illegal drugs into these United States from foreign sources. As a matter of self-defense, retaliatory policies including embargoes, sanctions, and tariffs, should be considered.
Ron Paul said he would pardon everyone who was in jail for non violent drug crimes. How is this like Dr. Paul's thinking again???
I am not saying these things are the hight of a free society or that this kind of activity needs to be condoned but it sounds to me like they want to push their views on me and that is where I bow out and go for the LP even if Barr is an ex CIA ex NeoCon ex Drug Warrior.
your post is damn near unreadable. trying to track down who is actually saying what, you blend CP platform material, that has in it quotes from historical figures mixed in with it's own summary, and your commentary is blended in...sheesh what a mess.
Yeah, I don't really like that they roll out Jesus right in the beginning, I mean the founding fathers used words like "providence" and "creator" and I think that they were intentional in there use of that language. Freedom brings people together of all faiths and beliefs. I understand that people are proud of their faith and want to testify about it, but to put it into the CP platform so blatantly to me is a turn off (and I am Christian).
The Christianity peddeled in todays pulpits is not the Christianity of the Reformers in the 16th and 17th century, nor the faith of the Founders after the Great Awakening. Today we have pre-mill dispensational Arminianism (semi-pelagianism). The predominate faith earlier was post-mill Augustinianism (Calvinism). Big difference.
This is the very issue I see as hurting Chuck Baldwin, although it is the party and not necessarily his own personal views. Some people will feel their views oppose-as a christian myself, it is one of the things that most impressed me with Ron Paul because of the simple fact, I don't like Christianity to be forced upon someone. I feel God wanted all people to have their own choices in matters like these.
view, would be similar to what Ron said about abortion. He does not believe it to be a Federal issue. The same would follow about gambling and pornography. These issues, though not of the belief of the Constitutional party, would be surrendered to the states. I don't have a problem with that.

Well, I don't think who we vote for is that important. I think what's important is getting someone into the debates with a generally libertarian message. Sincerity doesn't come into play unless the person has a real chance at being elected. I'm supporting Barr financially simply because he has more name recognition, so it's going to take less money and campaigning to get him into the debates. Baldwin is starting out with zero name recognition and zero political history, so I don't see how he could make it into the debates. Again, I think who you vote for is not going to matter because neither of them are going to win. What matters most is just getting someone speaking about liberty in the debates to challenge McCain and Obama. That requires 15% polling.

there are some finer points that I'm still studying. I'm not a big fan of the censorship of porn, mostly because it starts us down a slippery slope (pun intended?) where you have to define porn.
However, the gambling thing, according to the CPs website is that they seem to be against gov't involvement in subsidizing gambling (state lottos, native american casinos, etc), which I can agree with. I don't like my tax dollars being used for that. I see nothing in their platform to suggest that they want to do away with private gambling.
But still, 95% of RP's platform is good enough for my vote.
doesn't bother me if all the porn was off the internet.. I don't want my kids seeing it! why would it bother you to get rid of SMUT?? the 1st ammendment wasn't there to cover pornography .. porn is not speech!
Then you have to raise your kids not to look at or buy some software to make it so they can't. Do not think for one moment that the Government should be able to regulate it and take my tax dollars via force to hire porn cops. If you give them power to do that then they will have power to shut down other things. Like anti Federal Reserve web sites which could be viewed as acts of terrorism etc. THINK.
The thing about freedom is that it is the only gift in the world where in order to have it for your self you have to be willing to give it to others.
